a monastery converted into a hotel and feels opulent with dated furniture and ambience.Staffs are extrremely helpful and do thier best to help:kudos to them. Excellent location, with parking and windows open out with a view of the danube. clean rooms, good bathrooms and comfortable beds

no coffee maker in the rooms and had to ask for it, no fridge either.feels a llittle desolate. reception and door close at 9 pm or so ad have to use the room key to get out. restaurant is closed except for a sparse breakfast. depsite these, will stay with them again: the hotel, thier staff( such sweet people) and location is that good

Excellent and unique facility. Museum-like art everywhere, interesting local history and activities (boating on the Danube, shops in town, visiting churches, visiting nearby Melk Abbey). Good onsite breakfast and dinner option. Romantic dinner setting. Good size room with sitting area and good size bathroom; exceed most European-sized bathrooms, great amenities. Extremely clean.

Smell of local raw sewage would occasionally permeate from river area, which was challenging at night when you have to leave the windows open for circulation. Also detracted from an otherwise terrific, romantic dinner.

Location was perfect and Dürnstein is absolutely beautiful, would 100% return! Hotel was great, the pool was wonderful and the lounge area outside. We also dined in the hotel restaurant and the waiter we had (older gentleman) as absolutely great! A very quiet sleep. You can count on this not being a partying hotel so you'll get a great nights sleep. Fan also in room.

It is an old hotel, true to it's age so if you like this kind of stay then this is for you.

It was so magical! I visited Dürnstein 36 years ago when I was pregnant with my son and had lunch on the terrace of this hotel and never forgot it. I lived in Asia for years afterwards & travelled all over the world & forgot the name of the town. I always dreamed of returning & spending a night at that hotel. I was finally able to return with my husband, my son who is now a man, and his lovely wife. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Durnstein is like Brigadoon, it has stood still in time & the hotel was as good or better than I remembered. It’s a magical treat! The beds, the food, the ambience! I have no words. It was an unusually cold summer so we couldn’t use the incredible swimming pool, but we had apricot liqueur in the evening by the fire in the elegant fireplace of the living room. It was one of the best days of my life!

It’s a gorgeous property. Our standard room was large and well furnished. We loved the pool!

The lack of air conditioning is a big down side. we were on the third floor, during a week where it was actually not too hot (28-30°c), and it was pretty unbearable. there was just a cheap fan which was a bit rubbish. Even if you don’t want to install air con, it would be good to have a better fan or small cooling unit in the room. It’s meant to be 35°c next week and I feel for anyone staying in the room. Guest comfort has to be a higher priority, I’ve seen other reviews fobbed off with excuses for not having air con but there are alternatives. Management are located on the ground floor and might not realise how hot it gets on the third floor. Not good enough for an expensive property

This hotel has it all! It is beautiful,historic,clean, perfectly located in the lovely Dürnstein, the pool and gardens are amazing and peaceful and most of all: every single member of the staff is truly wonderful, helpful, friendly and I cannot say enough good things about them all. Their wine cellar has some great whites from the Wachau and the restaurant with the terrace overlooking the Danube is fantastic!

The property is truly so beautiful. The view was amazing, the gardens were exceptional, the location was unmatched. The service was friendly and helpful! The rooms weee very clean and everything in the room worked properly. Overall an excellent experience and I would stay there again.

The pool chairs were stacked and you had to sort it all out and put it back at the end. It was a shame because the pool is really big and gorgeous but that area just looked kind of sad. Perhaps if they arranged just a few of the chairs so it didn’t look a haphazard.

The view of the Danube from our room was spectacular! The hotel is very historic and a fun place to stay in Durnstein. Breakfast was wonderful. We enjoyed the pool on a warm day.

The room was on the smaller side. The vending machine was not replenished so there wasn't anywhere to buy snacks or drinks afterhours.

We actually stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and loved every minute. Everything was well done, well cared for and it was all exceptional. We would recommend it! The food is delicious, we ate dinner every night at the hotel, the staff and everyone involved in the hotel are gracious and always willing to help. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

The place is absolutely magical. Possibility to walk out of the hotel after good supper through empty Durnstein - priceless! :) Very pleasant restaurant and good sekt for breakfast

Comfort of the room, small tv, not the best bed etc. - the hotel is not the most luxurious. Nevermind, it is not bad and the spirit of the walls reward everything
