Stayed overnight with my Mum who is mobility impaired. We arrived later in the evening after an awful trip round the m25 and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. The lovely lady who tended to us when we arrived (blonde, can't remember her name sorry :-( ) was so helpful, showed us to our rooms and recommended driving cars up to park outside our rooms, especially to make it easier for Mum in the morning so she didn't have to walk as far. We had a meal in the pub which was delightful, I had ham egg and chips and mum had sausage and mash (with peas which is always welcomed! ) dessert I had roulade which was DIVINE! Even though we arrived late we didn't feel rushed at all. We had breakfast the next morning which was included in our stay, the lady serving us in the morning was absolutely lovely, atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. She even gave us a bag to take away our pastries! Have saved this for if we are ever over that way again as we would definitely return, so much nicer to support local especially off the beaten track. Would recommend the deluxe rooms to anyone with mobility issues eg getting in and out of shower as they are walk in showers, my mum has osteoarthritis but can walk short distances and stand for very short periods. Beautiful surroundings and very quiet. Price was exceptionally good value. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

The only thing I could complain about would be the bed, I had a standard room and the bed was very creaky which woke me up every time I turned over (see photo). This could easily be rectified by staying in a deluxe room if I was staying again as this is what my mum had and her bed was very comfortable in comparison. I don't think it would bother anyone who is a deep sleeper or does not move much in the night! I'd definitely choose a deluxe room if staying again or staying more than one night.

Excellent location for visiting Highclere Castle. Rooms very clean. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Plenty of parking. Was lovely to unpack and walk a few yards into the pub for a couple of drinks after a long drive! The breakfast was superb - one of the best we have had! Would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the area.

There was some confusion over the time we could get food on the Sunday. Unfortunately we missed dinner as the time stated on the leaflet in the room said 6pm and we arrived at 5:30 to find dinner had finished at 5pm. Unfortunately we had to drive into Basingstoke for a restaurant when we would have preferred to eat in the pub, especially as the breakfast was so good so we were looking forward to dinner! Next time we will check when making plans for the day.

Pretty pub with good food and nice unit/room we stayed in. Very comfortable bed and great towels. Basic as you would expect for the price but perfect for what we needed it for.

Some reluctance from the staff to allow us to get changed for a wedding in the room at 1pm (despite the room being ready) without paying an additional £25. Slightly disappointing since they’d had our customer in the pub for lunch after us having had a long drive there. However, they did let us, so it was ok, but just a bit of a shame as that’s the kind of thing that can take the edge off what was otherwise a great stay.

Starting with amazing curb appeal when we drove up, the George and Dragon is a beautiful old pub with such well kept grounds and garden, a credit to the owner! Our room was set apart from the main building which made it quiet. It had a lovely outlook onto the gardens and outside seating. The bed was comfortable and the shower was the best I've ever experienced in a b+b. Lovely room. We had an evening meal, food was excellent, well priced and the service was very good. In the morning we turned up for breakfast and made our order, no tiresome form filling the night before, just easy and chilled. Would highly recommend this place and we will definately be back!

Nothing at all.

The pub itself was stunning inside and out. The setting is picturesque. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Shower was great. Breakfast was plentiful although because we were later over for breakfast, it was a wee bit slow in being served up. Maybe an extra member of staff at this busy time when so many guests arrive at once! Housekeeping were very quick to provide an iron and iron board needed to press wedding outfits. When my daughters arrived in the morning they were immediately shown where their room would be on their return from the wedding reception we were all attending. Towels were provided for them so they could shower in our guest room. Thank you.

Minor things: bathroom light needs to be brighter; furnishings a little tired.

George and Dragon accommodation and pub is a lovely place, approximately 1 hour of drive from Heathrow airport. The location is very good, as you can easily reach Highclere castle from the Downton Abbey series within cca 20mins by car, or other nice places e.g Windsor castle or Salisbury or Stonehenge etc within less than an hour approximately. The staff is very nice and friendly, the accommodation very comfortable and you will feel very private and in silence - you will have rooms in separate buildings (not the same as reception/pub) ;) Sufficient parking places available. There is breakfast served for the hosts every day, you can choose from several options and it will be prepared freshly and just for you (Full English, eggs on toast, porridge + others) + options of juices, cereals, coffee, etc. The lunch/dinner option is there too, we tried several foods, such as Sunday roasted meats, burgers, small food (chicken and fish), and dessert (crumble) as well + the beer of course. The food was really good, prepared in a reasonable time and for a reasonable price ;) Overall we would really recommend this place and would love to come back when next visit UK again!

nothing ;)

George and Dragon pub and hotel is set in the glorious English countryside visiting in spring it's idyllic. Staff behind the bar were welcoming and helpful. Keys handed over we settled into our accomodations which consisted of a chalet style block in the grounds of the pub. Rooms warm comfortable decent size double bed warm and cosy. Tea making facilities in the room. Large fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bathroom clean overhead shower in bath. Wifi. Breakfast wonderful full English with a choice of vegetarian. Tea coffee juices cereal. I can't praise the breakfast enough very tasty and great portions. We also had an evening meal my partner fish and chips had huge portions which he somehow managed to finish he said it was delicious. I had salmon and broccoli in a dill sauce on a bed of potatoes it was beautifully cooked. We stayed two nights would have been happy to stay longer.

I can't say there was anything about our stay that displeased us. It was great.

From the minute we were made to feel really welcome. Check in was a breeze, the member of staff showed us to our room, explained everything and even sorted out a booking for an evening meal. The room was spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathroom clean. We enjoyed a drink and an evening in the bar, the young staff were very attentive, asking if we needed anything on a regular basis. The food was lovely, big portions and great value for money. Breakfast was good, it arrived quickly and was hot, something other hotels could learn from. Would definitely stay here again

The only gripe I have is the blinds in the rooms, if you are going to have them please have blackout ones. As it is nearly midsummer the sun was up early, the blinds did little to hide this.

The staff are outstanding - they are so caring and personable. The rooms are sparkling clean - better than Wokefield Park - and really spacious and tasteful. There is a refurb under way, so while the decor is perfectly good, it is being freshened up soon. I stay for a work project, and I book weeks in advance to make sure of my room. They treat me like a Princess. As a solo woman traveller, I always feel safe with them. The food is always cooled from scratch and fabulous. The new Thai menu sets them apart - you can have either a full traditional menu or a Thai one - both are great. My plates are always clean.

Nothing. I love it here.

The pub was lovely with an open fire and reasonable meals. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The location was great for a visit to Stratfield Saye House. Shower was lovely. Breakfast was very good and the options available were very flexible. Rooms are a very generous size and the bed was huge. .

The mattress wasn't very comfy. We were awake very early both mornings, noise on site one morning at 5.15 (sounded like drilling) and sunlight the other day because the blinds didn't keep out enough light. The cleaning lacked attention to detail although the important things were clean. Bathroom lights took 10 mins to warm up to be bright enough.
