Choice of breakfast was fab, staff were very friendly and catered to all our needs, even gave us milk for the little one. We had a slight hiccup in one of the rooms on the second night and the owner (who only took over the pub 23 days prior bless him) was quick to respond and made sure we were relocated to another room with everything we needed. We had a surprised 30th for my sister and again, staff were very helpful, food was incredible and choice of drinks was vast.
The floor could do with a good mop, babies got filthy sitting in the floor playing with their toys but other than that, we enjoyed everything.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Carpenters Arms! The property was clean, beautifully decorated, and exactly as described in the listing. The location was perfect, with easy access to attractions, or conveniences, making it ideal for both relaxation and exploration. Staff were incredibly hospitable, quick to respond to any questions, and provided thoughtful touches like shampoo and conditioner, as well as tea and coffee. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept so well during my stay! I truly felt at home, and appreciated how much care was put into our stay.

There is a lovely little bar area and the main room (restaurant) is beautifully set out / decorated and I loved the fairy lights on the beams. Food is fab, we sampled breakfast and evening meals. The rooms are outside, opposite the pub (within the grounds) a good size and are clean, we were comfortable relaxing there before our evening meal. Staff were amazing, helpful, polite, always asking if we needed anything. We would def stay again and would recommend. The rooms are like the pics on the website. Our first room looked bigger on the pics. A few minutes by car from Highclere Castle.
The room we booked was ensuite. The others were shared bathroom. I don't know if ours was the only ensuite but we weren't happy with it (room 4) The cleanliness was lacking and it was small with no proper hanging space for clothes and the bed was really low down.. The staff were lovely, very helpful and keen to sort this out for us. They sorted another room for us and we were very happy. I really can't praise the staff enough, they were much appreciated. If I were staying longer than a few days, some drawers in the room would be good. The only other minor thing was there were fans in the bedrooms that needed a dust.

We had 3 rooms in the annex, all were en-suite and comfortable. Staff were amazingly helpful and were very helpful though we were a little bit late. In the morning a short walk across the car park to the main dining area and more excellent service for our delicious breakfast. We were staying close to Highclere for a visit there but I did notice the Sir Stanley Spencer chapel is only over the road so I will return to look at that. My only lower point for facilities was because I did not access the wifi - I wasn't sure if it was available in my room - as I was late arriving I was straight to bed and sleep so I didn't care that much and we were off promptly in the morning for our Castle visit. We were obliged by commitments to eat supper elsewhere, but I wish we had been able to use the pub dining and bar in the evening before we slept here. It looked very welcoming.
Not the properties fault, but a top tip - Using the postcode my sat-nav took us to the entry slip road of the A34 leading away from the property which was super inconvenient. Use the proper address, as The Carpenters Arms is easy to find in the village.

The accommodation is in a cottage next to the pub. The rooms and ambience there are lovely. They also give snacks.
It was all lovely there was just a little wet patch on the carpet outside the bathroom everything else was perfect. Hot towel rail at night and I think in the morning. The service in the restaurant was slow at times but faster on the second day. Breakfast choices great and generous portion size though a little dry at times. Drinks and evening meals were excellent. Location amazing but inadequate bus service means using taxis.

Location is right off the motoway in Newbury so well connected. Room was spacious, well heated and insulated. And also had a number of charging points (by USB) which is extremely useful. Tea/coffee making facilities brilliant because they also included goodies for children. Staff was really kind and caring Parking right next to rooms and perfect is you have pets. Pub which is in a separate building is really quaint and clean. Unfortunately, we could not dine there because over the Christmas period it was closed in the evenings. One suggestion, few shops or eating places closeby so do watch out for the pub's opening times and think ahead. There are a number of pubs somewhat further but all very good.
Few issues but more personal suggestions, perhaps to have a separate waste system in rooms to help visitors out to dispose in an environmentally sound manner. Room was not cleaned or made up everyday, So towels were not changed, and bins never emptied, and over 5 days it becomes rather difficult with small kids. But to be honest we simply put it to the fact that it was Christmas time and simply and oversight.

Burgh Clere is a little ribbon development village near to High Clere House (Downton Abbey fame). Opposite the pub is the extremely moving chapel, devoted to those who fought in the Salonika Campaign. The paintings are superb Stanley Spencer murals. Check its opening times. The pub is a charming rural place which serves good pub food. Breakfasts are included in the price. Our room was delightful. It was big with a spacious bathroom. The furniture gave it character. It was in a converted country home in the yard of the pub.

Lovely pub in the middle of the countryside but not far from the A34 so easy to get to. The room was pretty comfortable in a separate building that is old and quite quirky next door to the pub so it's pretty quiet. The food was very good, both in the evening and breakfast.
The accommodation building is quite old and I had a lot of floorboard creaks in the room I was in, and the staircase was pretty steep when going upstairs. If you have mobility issues make sure you are on the ground floor.

The room was lovely, well decorated and warm. It also had a lovely welcome basket not dissimilar to a mini bar. The rooms were across the carpark from the pub.
The only negative is the noise, unfortunately it is not sound proofed, you can hear the neighbours above and to the side. I went to bed with the person above snoring and their tv left on. I was woken multiple times in the night with the people above taking it in turns to walk around and use the bathroom. This was all through earplugs! The floors are wooden so they echo and are creaky. If you’re not a light sleeper you’ll love it.

Lovely warm welcome, nice atmosphere in the pub. Accommodation was in an old cottage stone across the car park, didn’t hear a thing at closing time. We stayed in Bigwig accommodation. Nice spacious rooms, bathroom was big with large walk in shower, tea and coffee facilities were provided with a good selection of snacks, as we were friends we had twin beds still plenty of space to move around. The staff were great, it was a busy evening on a cold December evening, they were knowledgeable and acted on our concerns that the heating had gone off in our rooms and we were cold. All sorted straight away while we had a drink in the bar. There was a great selection of most items you’d expect for Breakfast, and the chef cooked/ baked any other requests such as eggs/bread. Would recommend!
We had very good provisions in the room, I would have liked a teaspoon to help us make tea/coffee a little easier, I am sure had I gone to ask it would have been provided, but I didn’t notice straight away and it was too cold to pop back over, so I haven’t deducted anything form my rating. Also I could feel some of the bed springs, it didn’t spoil my stay, but I would recommend a mattress topper.
