The room is spacious with a mossie net over the bed which is needed. The hotel is a small boutique with just 3 rooms on offer, you enter into the kitchen, with a seating area, this is very spacious and beautiful. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the owner, Dilani who was absolutely lovely and was very keen to take notes of how to make our stay the best it could be. She gave us some great recommendations of places to visit and where to eat. The room was very clean and bed was comfortable with plump pillows. The bathroom is a wet room with a large shaped bath, shower with normal head and drencher and two sinks. Toiletries were provided with shampoo, conditioner and soap. We had an issue with the drain as it was not draining quick enough, but this was very quickly sorted by Dilani. So I would recommend if you have any issues during your stay, not to leave it and complain afterwards - make sure you say something and it will be attended to straight away. When we returned one afternoon her crew made us a coffee to enjoy while sitting on the balcony which was a nice touch. Breakfast is plentiful - made fresh in the morning and I thoroughly recommend the curds and treacle (which tastes much like honey). Very tasty with the muesli. The traditional sri lankan breakfast is lovely and I thoroughly recommend having this - it will set you up for the day. To find the hotel, it is directly opposite number 20 which is clearly identified. We booked on booking.com where it said payment could be taken at any time. But we ended up paying by card at the hotel as they didn’t take the payment over the website. I recommend having a revolut account paying in Sri Lanka as there are no fees and the exchange rate is superb - because we paid by card at the hotel it ended up being less than the advertised amount on the website. I have also used my revolut card for cash withdrawals in Sri Lanka and again there were no fees and the best exchange rate.

The hotel is very echoey which can not be helped. I recommend earplugs or you will hear the early risers - guests and peacocks. The water pressure is a bit low. But nothing to put me off the hotel.

The breakfast was very generous, room large and comfy and the location was wonderful in the lane right next to Amangalle hotel, easy walking for everywhere in the fort and parking also available.

Only suggestion would be nice to have a kettle/tea coffee making facilities in the room as we were not sure if we could just make our own tea/coffee in the lovely kitchen or if we needed to call for the staff who were very accomodating. Maybe a small note just explaining what we could use would be helpful on check in and a couple of extra water bottles in the room.

This is a beautiful historic building. The room was excellent, and the lobby and dining areas were very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The quality of the service and the attention to detail from the three men managing this hotel was absolutely perfect. The breakfasts we were served, which were included in the room price, were the best we've ever had. This hotel was perfect in every way, and we will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Galle Fort.

We loved everything.

Our 3 day stay at the 5th was amazing. It started with a nice fresh made fruit juice. The 3 guys (Anil, Samir, Samar) who run the daily business assured, that we felt comfortable at any time. they were very friendly and supportive with any request we had. They even made sure, that we could keep our room until 5pm on our last day (no extra charge). The room and bathroom were very clean and beautiful. The breakfast was very tasty, we could choose between SriLankan or Western breakfast and it was freshly made every day. over all we can highly recommend this place!!!

No trash bins in the room. As normal in Sri Lanka the walls are pretty thin.

The residence was like an oasis to arrive to and we were greeted with a freshly blended smoothie. The architecture of the building is so beautiful and it is decorated with stunning artwork and furnishings. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was incredible and the hospitality of the staff was outstanding. The location was perfect for exploring Galle Fort. It was truly a 5 star experience.

Towel racks or hooks in the bathroom would be helpful, as well as somewhere to hang clothes. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay though.

Beautiful, peaceful villa type hotel in the middle of Galle Fort. Exudes calm and tranquillity. Less than 10 minute walk from the train station and were welcomed with cold towels and a watermelon juice, by the fabulous staff. We had a superior double room, with an enormous double bed, huge walk in wardrobe and even bigger bathroom with the biggest stone bath we have ever seen and one double room for the children both rooms complete with mosquito nets and A/C. We had a choice of a western or Sri Lankan breakfast and went for the former, which was perfect; lots of fruit, juice, coffee, tea, toast eggs any way, chicken sausages.and mushrooms. The inner balcony looks out onto a tiny very verdant garden, with the sounds of the birds in the trees.

It is expensive compared to similar hotels in SL BUT you are paying for the location, the serenity and the beautiful rooms and are looked after so well by the lovely staff there so yes, it is worth it!

Fabulous location in the centre of Galle Fort but on a quiet street. Beautifully appointed property with open plan ground floor leading onto a secluded garden with seating. We had a first floor room, mosquito nets on bed, hot shower, quiet, efficient air-con. Our only comment would be, as someone else has previously mentioned, there were no hooks to hang towels or any clothes on in either the bedroom or bathroom, not a major issue but one that could easily be addressed.

Nothing, we loved the place!

Absolutely, everything is perfect. Beautiful Japanese inspired design hotel, only a few renting rooms, a lot of privacy. Staff were extremely helpful, very polite, good manners, and very friendly. Also, hotel designs like bedrooms, kichen, and living room made us feel like at home. Amazing breakfast, they can serve whatever you wish. Highly recommended

The villa is absolutely gorgeous, well maintained and feels like you’re in a luxurious house. The team were so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure my partner had a lovely birthday. Breakfast was incredible, you can never go wrong with Sri Lankan breakfast (don’t even bother asking for western their home cooking is gorgeous!) It was very central but quiet in the night to sleep peacefully. The king suite was so gorgeous I want to recreate the bathroom in my home! We felt so spoilt thank you so much.

Nothing we didn’t like

This is a small hotel with three rooms. The staff here takes good care of the guests. Don't expect a fully functional reception desk. It is more like an upscale homestay. Having said that, i must add that this bungalow has been lovingly restored, it is aesthetically pleasing and there is a touch of personalised care in everything. Best place to stay inside the galle fort.
