The six-bed dorm was quite cozy, with large, comfortable beds and a clean private bathroom. The location is good, the hostel has a pub and a café (although the latter was closed when we were visiting), and among common areas, there is a relax room with a large sofa, TV (with Neflix!), books and puffs.
The single bathroom in the dorm is a bit difficult to share with six people. We saw there was one guest bathroom in the dining room that could be used by everyone - if there were other bathrooms available, we were not made aware of that. Also, the kitchen is very small and always very crowded.

The staff were friendly and efficient on check in and when I checked out. I could come and go when I liked for the whole stay. There is a carpark on site, Bar and Cafe in the vicinity. It wasn't expensive and clean. There is a bathroom attached to each dorm room. If you don't mind different people coming and going and feel safe, I had good roomies even though I was out early and back late 🥰
🤔🤔🤔 there wasn't anything to dislike..everything went well and my roomies were fine.

We booked a private room with 2 single beds and were comfy and washroom clean and functional. Nice that room had a window for fresh air. Staff were freindly. Good location short walk to downtown and close to botanical gardens. The pub food was excellent
Kitchen needs more cutting boards and sharp knives, more fridge space and a freezer would be nice too

Very friendly staff and nice location. The benefit of the pub downstairs is that you down have a go somewhere else for a delicious guinness and something to eat, the downside is that it's a bit noisy at night when people are still having a drink outside. But they made sure people are more quiet after a certain time. Bed is a bit narrow, but comfy. Room was very clean Would definitely come back!
WiFi wasn't working, staff tried to fix it immediately and called the service, without success. It's not their fault and they were very eager to get it to work again, but that was a bit annoying during my stay

Really excellent value for the money. Absolutely no frills, nothing luxurious, but the room was more spacious than I expected for the amount I paid. I didn't spend time in the hostel area, but it looked like people were hanging out there and being friendly, so a good place to meet fellow travelers.
There's no AC, and it got warm at night in January. The walls were a bit thin so I could hear someone talking on the phone in the hallway. But for a hostel, it was much more tranquil than most. Nelson is a pretty sleepy town -- I had trouble finding a coffee shop that was open for breakfast on a Sunday. The bar/restaurant at Prince Albert is only open for dinner.

Great value for money, room was big enough, beds clean and comfortable. We had a private room with it's own bathroom which was good.
No air conditioning, a fan in the room might be helpful as the room was quite hot and stuffy, even at night so we had to leave a window open. Hot water took ages to come through in the bathroom, was starting to think there was no hot water (cold shower!) then started getting hot just as finishing shower. No way of making hot drinks in the room, have to go down to the shared kitchen, may be nice to have this option in the private rooms?

The staff were absolutely fantastic! Really helpful and a good chat. The common areas were great, there was foosball and hammocks and books and Netflix. All the guests there at the time were so nice and keen for a chat. It never got too rowdy and when the bar was busy it was quiet by 11pm. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.
The shower doesn't have a basin in the floor it just dips inward. Essentially water gets everywhere when you're not careful and most people aren't. Also someone stole my cookies from the kitchen :(

The staff was very friendly. Everything was very clean and you have hair dryer in the room. We had a private bathroom that was very good.
I stayed in many hostels and backpackers and this was the onlyone I was where there wasn't soup in the bathroom nor te/coffee/ sugar for the people in the kitchen. I know it's an extra, but it's important when you travel just with your backpack

I had a nice stay at the Prince Albert in a shared 4-bed room. The common areas were very comfortable and clean and it was a good environment all around, with nice people to talk to. The wifi worked great everywhere. Having heaters in each room made the nights very comfortable and the showers were high pressure and had nice hot water. The carpark is quite spacious and very accessible from the rooms. The hostel is super close to the city centre, so it's great if you want to explore Nelson by foot!
The kitchen area was occasionally dirty, especially the sinks. This is not the hostel's fault (they actually did a very good job of cleaning everything come the morning), but I thought it worth noting. My card to enter the room stopped working at around 9 pm on my last night, which was inconvenient since I could only get in the room if someone was there to let me in.
