Breakfast was nice, appreciate the pop machine being available most of the day/night - not just during breakfast hours. Also appreciate the ease to get to Elvis Explosion at the LaCrosse Convention Center.

Not sure if it was because we had a handicap room, with we did not need - but didn't care for the set up, no bathroom vanity. Shower didn't work as we thought it would - a lot of water on the floor outside of the shower - which we wiped up. Also - the Orange Juice was out on Sunday breakfast. Employee working the breakfast area seemed flustered (probably after someone over flowed the waffle maker area) so I didn't mention it to him. We stay at the Gunderson every year - would be nice if they offered a free night after so many nights stay.

I welcomed the potatoes and eggs. Tuesday was a bit better, with bacon. Wife liked the diet Pepsi on tap. Please add an automatic espresso dispenser! We loved finding one at our last hotel - Delicious! The toaster was good, also the bread. We had excellent helpful service from the receptionist. The hotel was kept very clean - we certainly appreciated our stay.

Gundersens web page hails its breakfasts and we looked forward to them, but they were not as good as we anticipated. We seldom saw an attendant on hand in the self service area. Breakfast on Monday .. hmm, only one meat option: processed ham. The plastic cutlery is barely strong enough. Why is there only one type of coffee on tap? Dark or light roast is a good choice to have.

I stayed for a night for various reasons and was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating this hotel is. The staff were polite and respectful while also being human and able to joke around with us. The room was incredibly clean cozy, heat and air worked great, bathroom was a good size and there was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. The bed was one of the more comfortable hotel beds I have slept in, and it was quiet. Of all the hotels I have been to in La Crosse this one has been one of the best, I look forward to staying there again when I need to next. Thank you for your hospitality.

One of us was on a supported cross-country bike trip and the other was driving along to sightsee. In Sioux Falls, we tested positive for Covid-19 and wanted to isolate in a hotel where we could stay comfortably for several days. The Gunderson was on the upcoming itinerary and offered several days stay at a very reasonable price (the tour leader said that hotels near hospitals, which this one is, are often lower priced than others in a city). The room was clean, comfortable, and had a refrigerator, microwave, and good TV, which were what we needed. We appreciated all these amenities, and enjoyed our stay as much as anyone can while recovering from Covid-19.

If you want to be within walking distance of stores and restaurants, this isn't the place for that. But it was easy to drive to these things.

Staff was extremely nice. Love all the artwork and it’s representation of La Crosse.

We travel a lot and think Gundersen is a good hotel. We would love to rate it as an excellent hotel but it’s missing a few things. Our room had 3 closets but only one hanger. We wish there were 2 luggage racks instead of 1. There’s plenty of closet space to store it. There’s also just 1 hook in the bathroom and there is plenty of wall space to add at least one more. There’s hardly any counter space in the bathroom. Everything is in decent condition but the ottoman has seen better days.

I really think that SOME housekeeping services should be reinstated, now that Covid restrictions are not in effect. To think that with nearly a two-week stay my room was never attended to is not what I would expect. Trash removal and clean towels after 3 days would be nice, and a change of bedding after a week would be nice, too.

Breakfast needed a bit of help. Day one of our stay had the biscuits and gravy...biscuits were so hard they couldn't be cut or chewed. Day two of our stay, we ate around 6 am, omelets were cold as were the hash browns. Coffee at 5:30 am was almost cold. I think something could be done to fix these issues. Had food been warm, I am pretty sure it would have been good.

Well, while we were there, the dining area apparently had been rented out for a function the second night of our stay. Walking through that area was seriously uncomfortable. Would have been a great idea to have staff let their guests know there was something going on before we all "found out" the hard way. I really didn't appreciate being stared at as we went through the lobby. Made to feel like we were intruding and overheard a comment from one person who was attending that "they should have told them to use a different exit instead of parading through here". I thought that was very distasteful and made us feel VERY unwelcome...didn't expect treatment like that for the amount we paid to stay there.

A modern, clean and comfortable hotel with a good sized room and bathroom. It had a large car park which was free. The facilities were as listed but I'd expect a quality hotel to have room safes as standard. Unexciting decor. I'm afraid I don't get how this hotel has been marked as 'fabulous' though.

My room was on the road side and what a busy and noisy main road! Although the window was well glazed, the roar of trucks and motorbikes through the night was very disturbing. The hotel is in a rather dull and forgettable part of the city without any noticeable bars or restaurants close by and it is well out of the downtown so you need to drive to get anywhere slightly interesting for the evening. An average breakfast.

Quality facilities. Very tasteful decor. Large room with nice kitchen and separate bedroom. Exceptionally clean room and clean public areas including pool. Good hot breakfast included. Soda and coffee available through day.

Noticeable (but not terrible) noise at night from adjacent highway. Fairly pricey, but consistent with LaCrosse. A few small things, like no ice cube tray in freezer, small rust spots on freezer rack, not a lot of silverware in kitchen, only one caffeinated coffee pod supplied in room.

Convenient parking and excellent check-in experience! Lobby area was spacious, clean, bright and welcoming! Clerk made immediate changes to my original online reservation to accommodate my 84 year old mom who had joined me. Beds were exceptionally comfortable for good nights' rest. We enjoyed their delicious onsite breakfast and kindness from their staff working. Hotel also offers complimentary coffee, tea, soda 24/7. Would definitely stay again!

Was concerned about location and street noise. Wasn't an issue whatsoever.
