Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was exceptional, my wife and I shared the goat cheese salad starter which was delicious and more than enough to share. We then had the fish and chips and we think it was the best fish and chips we've ever had. The breakfast porridge was also amazing.
There was no milk in our room and when I asked for some I was told they had run out of milk flasks. I was asked to go down to the breakfast room at 7-30am to fetch some if I wanted morning tea in my room. Not what I'd expect from a hotel of this standard.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tongue Hotel. After a warm welcome we were shown around the property before being taken to our room. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with everything we could have needed for a lovely stay. The bed was huge and super comfortable, the bath had a view over the fields below and there was a large bathroom with a heated towel rack and enormous fluffy towels. The restaurant was great. The food was delicious and it was very well staffed by very friendly and efficient people. The breakfast was outstanding, so many options on the menu plus fresh, warm pastries and fresh fruit. The hotel will even organise a packed lunch for their guests. We have stayed in some very nice hotels on our way around the NC500 and this is one of my top picks.

Most charming staff we came across during our 8 nights of hotel stays, service was impeccable. The rooms felt spacious, the beds had a good size and the bathroom was large and had a bathtub and great toiletries. Parking was easy upon arriving. Both dinner and breakfast was of very high quality.
Most expensive dinner we had during our full 18 days of vacation in Scotland in total, doesn't mean it wasn't worth it ;) Bring earplugs, we could hear snoring from the surrounding rooms (we had our windows open though and probably contributed to the choir ourselves once we fell asleep). Would have liked some screening option in the huge bathroom window (we had a total of four rooms and ours was the only one with a window in the bathroom though).

The room was very clean, well equiped and it was amazing to have 2 sinks! We had an amazing dinner, the staff were all friendly and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
There wasn't a curtain or blind over the window in the bathroom - there was just a net curtain which is useless when you have the light on. I appreciate that the view was from the road but there are plenty of weird folk who would watch someone in the shower or via the mirror going to the loo so I certainly think you should have a proper blind/curtain over that window.

Nice spacious room with beautiful views. Lots of character in the hotel. Sherry decanter was a welcome touch. Good breakfast. Beautiful location and ideally placed for exploring the north of Scotland.
The room was a little cold, I understand the difficulties of heating old buildings but I feel this could have been remedied with a winter weight higher tog duvet. Wifi was poor. I phoned prior to booking to ask about this and was told there wasn't a problem so I brought my laptop to do some work. It would have been better just to be open that the wifi was non existent some of the time. Milk sachets to go with the tea would be good as there is no nearby shop to buy milk.

Nice big room, large bathroom, good sized bath. Hotel seemed strange, in a good way, modernised but in keeping with the building style. Staff friendly. We had a nice view overlooking the water. Weather was quite stormy in the night but despite the old wooden window frames we slept really well, not quite sure how they managed to help with the noise. It's the kind of place I felt guilty for not spending more money! We only had an overnight stop. Short walk to a nearby castle ruin is worth it for the views of the area!
Being fussy but a larger TV would of been nice in the room. Breakfast was interesting, we were served by someone who didn't seem to be suited to a public facing role, friendly but not approachable. I think nearer the end the manager may of made sure we were happy, at least I'm asusming the manager as they were very friendly and seemed to be geniune in wanting us to enjoy our time.

We were right up on 3rd floor-same room my husband had stayed in that I had booked him into 6years earlier.(Wish they'd put in lifts) Lovely touch was sherry in a nice decanter in bedroom Beautifully redecorated bedroom with lovely view and modern bathroom with nice shower too. Dinner was lively, had a good meal, wasn't over the top though and yet rooms are very pricey. Breakfast was a little bit of shambles, had to ask to take our orders as we were travelling onwards, so we were time poor
Service was just not there for the price of the Hotel I felt, let themselves down that way.

From the check in to leaving, I was made to feel very welcome. I chose a classic double room as there was a deal on for March visits and I was on a budget! The bed was comfortable, showers hot, plenty of towels and complimentary bottled water, tea, coffee and biscuits. There was enough space for my nights stay with storage to hang clothes and drawers on the side of the bed. Particular attention had been paid to green credentials - everything was reusable which I appreciated. I slept so well and wish I could have stayed longer! I ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel as well. Everything was delicious! The veggie breakfast had additional items like a veggie haggis pattie and tattie scones. In the morning, I went for a blustery walk up to the castle which set me up for the day! I couldn't speak more highly of the staff who made me feel comfortable and gave me a superb experience. Thank you!
Nothing to criticise at all :)

The town is extremely small and this is one of only two hotels. It is in a good location. The staff was kind and friendly. The room was clean Dinner was delicious! My husband had lamb and I had wild mushroom risotto. Both excellent!
Although the room was clean, it was extremely small. Our only option was to put our open suitcases on the floor which meant that there was absolutely no place to walk. The bathroom, while modern, had no place to put toiletries other than on the toilet seat.

Good location. Breakfast staff were friendly. Lovely toiletries and tea/coffee in room. Decent pub meal.
Superior room was standard. Would benefit from a coffee table and a bit of a padded mattress protector and some milk would take it to the deluxe advertised however for the price we paid we got what you’d expect. Shouldn’t really be using the last season breakfast menu as both things I washed for were not actually available that said the porridge was delicious.
