This hotel has recently been refurbished and the rooms are exceptionally well decorated and furnished. I particularly liked the notes of tartan simpathically used. The shower room was beautiful and the shower and cubical top class Downstairs there was a traditional bar with darts, snooker and a juke bic. There is a separate lounge, tastefully decorated in muted pinks, grey with rose gold touches, which has wonderful views if the bay. Personally, I think that a little background music would improve the ambience. The dining room enjoyed great views, and the menus and food were excellent. I would highly recommend the croissant, best I have had.

Firstly the location, then the really friendly welcome from the owner on Reception. The room was beautiful, well decorated and with everything you needed. Exceptionally clean and great decor. The bar was nice with decent beers and good bar staff. We had a really good chat with the owner who told us his life story and acquisition of Bettyhill. The restaurant was nicely decorated with plenty of room between tables looking out to sea. Dinner was fantastic, Haddock, chips and peas, all really tasty, probably the best fish and chips l've personally had in the last 30 years. We had a great sleep and ate our breakfast looking out across the bay. This hotel is a gem and worth staying at.

Comfortable and spacious bedroom and bathroom, immaculately clean with lovely views. Lovely evening meal and breakfast.

Our check in was 3pm and we arrived a couple of hours early along with some other guests (bikers who we didn’t know) the hotel was locked so we had to ring someone and ask if we could get in out of the cold and rain just to rest and keep warm till our check in time, when someone did let us in it was very clear by the look on the gentleman’s face he wasn’t happy and told us we could have gone to the cafe down the road to wait, not really the warm welcome you would expect, I have never know a hotel keep their guests locked out until check in time, Having said that the rest of the staff were lovely and friendly.

The location is slap bang on the NC500 route so a very convenient stop. It has a very beautiful view and I wish we had stayed more nights here. All the staff were genuinely friendly and professional. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully cooked and very tasty. Travelling this time with elderly Mum- it was her favourite place-and is the memory of this trip she says she will hold. I want to come back to stay longer and explore the area better; including the local Farr beach.

Food slightly pricey - though this is the same wherever you stay on NC500

Excellent location on our cycling trip. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Room very comfortable, clean and a good size with a well designed and equipped en suite shower room. Hot water plentiful and a large heated towel rail on which we could dry some of our damp clothing. Views from the hotel of Torrisdale Bay are stunning. We ate in the hotel restaurant - a nice meal, well priced. Breakfast was substantial with a large choice of items from the Full Scottish, porridge and cereal to scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

Nothing to dislike!

We were able to stay in the private cottage just next to the main hotel building, the privacy was definitely purely nice. When we were there the WiFi router was actually connected to 4G data; just keep the router near a window and it’ll keep a good connection. Everything was clean and we did not lack anything for our stay; beds were comfortable to sleep on. The view outside the hotel is great, you get to see a hill of sheep and a beach. Free breakfast was also good, the elderly lady serving us was a doll.

While this is an older property, it is very well-maintained and well-appointed. Staff was very helpful and efficient. Our second floor room was fairly spacious and well-appointed, with a lovely view out the window. The hotel is easily accessed, being right off the main highway that runs through the area. Excellent free breakfast; ding room / bar on-site was also excellent for paid dinner.

Looks like limited staff time for front office; we MAY have arrived a bit early but found the front door locked along with a sign that advised "Not open until 3pm". Not really a big deal, though; we went and visited the nearby Strathnaver Museum and found the hotel open for business on our return.

The hotel is well positioned as part of the North Coast 500 route and the view to the sea fantastic. We were lucky our bedroom looked out to the sea. The hotel staff were always happy and helpful. We got suggestions for places to go to for lunch or coffee do ask them. We had already found a great Eatery in the village, literally minutes away from the hotel and also a fabulous Norse Bakehouse (Tongue) to visit.

The hotel has a roll over from Covid and after breakfast does not offer any service until 3pm. However, this was repeated in other hotels during our trip. If you are only staying for an overnight, this is not much of a problem but if you are there for a few days a slightly different matter, as a resident you are given a key to access the hotel during this time. Hence, make use of the hotel team to find out places, they are helpful.

If there was a 20 score for staff, the staff here would get it easily. Everyone was so friendly and the breakfast staff were really accommodating, Our dog, Minnie the Minx was made very welcome and there was a saucer of little breakfast treats for her every morning on our table. Our Veggie breakfast was delicious. We had a very nice meal in the bar, Veggie Tagine. The room was very clean and comfortable, there is a bar, a very cosy lounge as well as the rooms set up for eating (dogs and their owners in one, and non-dog owners in the other). Lovely location overlooking Torrisdale Bay (I think). Off-road, free car parking.

What could have been better? The weather! But we did have enough of a break in the rain to have a lovely beach walk! £10 charge per stay for a dog.

Arrived to a very warm welcome.. and was given key to our room, which was so nice. Clean and tidy, everything was perfect. Bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was new. The shower was superb. Towels provided. In the bar area, we met the owner, who was an amazing man, gave us the history of the hotel and some excellent tips on places to visit and Northern lights. My husband loved it with a pool table and dart board. Evening meal in the restaurant was excellent and service was great. The food was hot and tasty. Veiw from the restaurant, wow, what a veiw. Sunset was amazing. We had a free breakfast included in our room price, and an excellent food was hot and presented so nicely, with a combination of cooked and continental breakfast available. Would definitely go back to this gem of a hotel.
