The location, the staff, the room & the facilities

The breakfast was a bit disappointing & the service a bit disorganised. Only fried eggs available, and these were extremely tough after being under heat lamps. There were options to order poached or scrambled eggs separately, but these took a long time to arrive. The staff were lovely, but it did take some time to replenish breakfast items etc.

We had a lovely stay, food was really nice and I really think they have a fab breakfast selection. I love the fact dogs can stay for free, we were upgraded too as it was my husbands birthday and the chocolates were a lovely touch.

Could do with more staff at Reception very hard to get through to them on the phone

Our room looked into the golf course so we had a nice view. Also, most of the staff were very helpful and friendly

Our spa booking made by phone had not been noted down so we were not expected (though the change to the afternoon tea had gone through). One member of the spa staff was particularly unhelpful and just kept repeating the same unhelpful line.

Spa and pool facilities are lovely, the restaurant and bar are cosy and lovely decor. Rooms could do with a bit of upgrade but comfortable.

The food is a bit of the pricey side for what you get. The hotel was a bit chilly especially in the room.

I love this hotel, no matter how busy it never seems crowded because of all the rooms you can go sit in at your leisure. Lovely bar area and nice pool! Bedroom good size and such comfortable beds!

On the first night our food was so good, I was so impressed with the chef (Sunday) we booked in again for the Tuesday as we enjoyed it that much but sadly the 2nd meal was so disappointing, Luke warm and didn't seem fresh, I was gutted because totally opposite from the first meal and I ordered the exact same thing! There are a few small things the hotel lacks on with quality but it doesn't stop me wanting to go back.

Loved the swimming pool and spa set up. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a good selection for breakfast. Little issues we had were quickly resolved. Overall there were some maintenance tweaks needed (for example, wonky shower rails in the spa, rusty metal door edgings) but didn’t detract from a good weekend. Final point was that although there is a large car park, there are a lot of guests and golfers so parking can be tight. One final point - a map of the grounds would be helpful!

Stunning location next to 2 championship golf courses and plenty woodland walks within the hotel grounds. Food was decent if a little overpriced in bars and restaurants and dogs allowed in 19th Hole and hotel bar areas. Spacious family bedroom and bathroom. Staff attentive when asked for anything.

£25 nightly charge for dogs with no dog bowl, bed or food provided and seemingly to cover the cost of a room deep clean (incidentally the carpet was already red wine stained when we arrived). Heating not working properly in room and cold throughout the night with condensation on windows. Interior very dated and needing refreshed. Swimming pool water not warm. Not able to access leisure facilities before or after checking in or out.

Beautiful hotel, set among lovely golf courses. Staff were always friendly. Room was lovely, although would have like a room overlooking the course. Breakfast...lots to choose from , and all very nice. Dinner was lovely too, was a bit worried after reading reviews, but our experience was good. The walks around the estate are nice,

Pillows... 1 isn't enough, 2 too much. Didn't like heating ( warm air) We weren't told when booking , that when you check in you're asked to pay a further £50 PER NIGHT security payment. Thev"walks" map are a bit hit n miss..

Had a lovely cosy room (feature double) with an enormous bed and a beautiful view. The lounge/bar areas are attractively styled and calming in effect, with comfy seating. There’s plenty of outside space too, with stunning views. The restaurant is comfortable and clean with a great menu, offering some nice veggie options (parsnip wellington was awesome). All staff encountered were friendly and attentive but special mentions go to Mo: for his fun, friendly banter, to James; who served us our dinner and was not only attentive and professional but also a delightful, well mannered young man. It’s also very good value for money at Slayley, which is also the reason we returned for a second visit. We didn’t use the spa this time but have done in the past and had an enjoyable experience.

There was nothing I didn’t like. The aircon is a bit noisy but it wasn’t an issue affecting our stay.

Our evening meal on the first night, was dreadfull I was served a beefburger that was cremated my wife had a tikka chicken curry which was more like a vindaloo with very little chicken, we also asked for a spoon which never came, A manager came and apologised and said the bill was cancelled ,we thought the menu was very limited for a 4 star hotel, the room we were in was next to a room that the cleaners used for something, and in the afternoon when we were resting after lunch they were in and out quite often and banging the door, my wife had to ask them to be quiet. Breakfast was OK but on our last morning my wife ordered a poached egg which never came, a waitress apologised and said the chef had for gotten it
