We stayed at the Rose & Crown to attend a wedding nearby. This is a community owned pub, and you can certainly tell that this is a labour of love! The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and couldn’t be any more helpful… they even offered us a lift when we were struggling with a taxi!! Check in was quick and easy, and we were shown to our very comfortable, clean room, which was exactly all you need. Comfortable beds, tv, scorching hot water, tea and coffee and even a fridge. We had a drink in the bar before we left for the wedding, which was cosy and comfortable- we could definitely have stayed for another! We didn’t have time for food- which is a shame as the food menu looked fabulous!

Nothing!

We liked the exceptionally friendly welcome and our spacious bedroom. We appreciated the non-slip surface in the shower. We enjoyed our dinner - imaginative, well cooked and nicely presented. The provisions for our DIY continental breakfast were generous and varied. We admired the efficient and friendly service at dinner.

The guest rooms are over the deservedly popular bar and are a bit noisy until closing time. We'd have liked a caddy in the shower and a couple of hooks in the shower room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate with 14 friends in the restaurant and the food was beautiful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The Rose & Crown is set in the most beautiful countryside and we were within east reach of Corbridge and Hexham.

Unfortunately due to the time of the year we visited the weather wasn’t particularly great and the room was rather cold as there was no heating on.

On arrival had drinks in the beer garden then we were shown our lovely room with en suite. Then had a superb meal chosen from a varied menu with a bottle of wine from the excellent wine list. To top the night off there was a fun pub quiz which was free. We felt like one of the locals!! Slept like logs and enjoyed a continental breakfast which had everything from croissants fruit juice toast fruit loaf yogurts fruit salad cereals and cereal bars etc etc teas and coffee. Perfect stay from start to finish and very reasonable. See you again 😁

Our time flew!

The staff were amazing we arrived at 4:50pm with a problem with our car that had reoccurred whilst we were on our way from wales. As soon as we mentioned it to The lady who greeted us (Emma i believe) she was straight on the phone to a car rental company to try to sort out a rental. And did all she could to assist also allowing us to leave our car at the pub whilst we were away for the week. Great pub, great atmosphere, clean comfortable accomodation and fantastic food and hospitality. And the best and most helpful staff who are a credit to the pub. Thank you so much for your help and would certainly stay again and totally recommend it.

Nice food, good beer.

The property was advertised as being wheelchair-accessible. The accommodation is not. I asked a question about this in my booking, but received no reply. I tried to phone three times, but no answer. So, communications could be better. The map on Booking.com shows a car charger at the pub, which was important in our choice (after supposed accessibility). Unfortunately it doesn’t work, and hasn’t for years.

Peaceful location with a lovely view of sheep in the fields behind. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The Continental breakfast was just amazing. Separate breakfast area with the room. With a mini fridge and toaster. Had everything from juice and cereals to fruit and yoghurt, croissants, bread and fruit breads to fruit bars and granola. Perfect stay.

Nothing to improve

The staff were excellent- the food was great and even though I room was above the main bar it was unbelievably quiet so had a great sleep- would recommend and will definitely go again

There’s only 1 shop in the village and it’s only open from 10am until 12 Monday to Friday and there’s another pub but about a 15 to 20 minute walk away but the rose and crown had everything we wanted and more

Rooms decorated really lovely, well equipped. Beds very comfy and good bedding. Staff lovely especially Anthony who greeted us, showed us to our rooms and also served us at the bar. Great little bar area, friendly locals and tasty food.

Would have been great to have cooked breakfast in the mornings rather than just toast, cereal, etc.

We didn’t have breakfast but had an evening meal which was lovely and tithe portions were plentiful. The staff were very friendly too. Beds were comfy. There was even a couple of biscuits each which was a bonus.

The only minus was the smell going up to the room. As the kitchen was directly under the breakfast erea. There was no smell in the actual room.
