We have stayed at the Poaches 3 times now as it is convenient for the beach & the Farriers restaurant which we love to go too & being able to take our dog. It is very basic but is ok for 1 /2 nights. It could do with updating preferable with en-suites & the rooms could be bigger as it's just somewhere to sleep so we are exhausted as are out all day. More could be done & we wouldn't mind paying more. Breakfast would be a nice idea but we just get some out but again not relaxing to be up & out. Check in could be better as we arrived about 1pm but were not even able to unload our car.

We should have been able to leave our luggage in a locked room on arrival. no en-suite ( which we no about) but still don't like so couldn't recommend it to any of my friends & family. No breakfast, pub side could open earlier.

As expected, just a room for the night to enable us to stay over in Scarborough. We were aware there was no breakfast, and we were going to be too late back for diner, ,so we sorted our own food out. Excellent bed, very comfortable, nice towels, plenty of hot water, shared bathroom between two rooms was next door and was fine, coffee and tea provided was ok but a spoon would have been appreciated ! Could not get any more milk in the morning because there is nobody on site until lunch time, so stock up !

Not really a welcoming stay only saw a young lad who checked us in and showed us to our room, but it is the way nowadays with a lot of accommodation, rather in personal, but was efficient, great location for getting a bus into Scarborough.

The location was beautiful. Stunning scenery around the property. Osgodby is gorgeous & very close to the beaches & other seaside attractions. The room was well-equipped & extremely comfortable. There was a comfy double bed & an extra single bed too. The room had everything needed for a comfortable stay Luke the barman was lovely. He got me my keys & showed me to my room. We couldn't speak easily as there were very loud customers in the bar when I checked in at 7pm. Luke even apologised for the foul-mouthed regulars who used the F-word in every sentence despite young children being in their party. Luke got some hot food for me which was delicious. He kindly served it in the quiet, closed bar at the back where I could watch the football whilst eating. Thank you to Luke. The landlady was also very nice and friendly when I met her.

The many stairs & very uneven floors. No light in the entrance to the accommodation building makes it hard to see. Old beautiful building but not good if you have any mobility issues. No lift obviously as it's a historic building. The wooden boxing off in the bathroom had gaps in it so it collected muck.

It’s a locals pub with a few bedrooms, looks like 2 bedrooms per shared bathroom. It was basic but very clean and a comfortable bed. It helped having a sink in the bedroom. Plenty of parking , friendly staff. It’s a budget priced room so can’t expect luxury but it had tea/coffee making facilities. Overall I was happy with it . There is a large lounge/dining area again clean and tidy and I guess if a group or family staying it would be great to use

I don’t know if there was free WiFi, nothing in the room to tell you . I suppose I could have walked round to the pub to ask . But it was only one night so it was fine

Great little pub in a quiet friendly area. Full of locals so nice atmosphere. Room allocation was a bit slapdash and convoluted but all done with banter and friendliness, with still time before last orders to enjoy a drink at least. Perhaps a more comprehensive, foolproof check in procedure would be advisable. That said, we had a pleasant stay and caught our bus into Filey early the following morning rested and rejuvenated. Shared bathroom (shower-room with WC as expected but this was not an issue as it's right next door, perfectly clean/ serviceable and only shared with one other bedroom from what we could see.

Despite the slight hiccup at check in there wasn't much not to like

Basic, but clean fresh and bed comfortable and bedding crisp and white, liked the sink in the room too. Kids bed would easily fit 2 little ones. Big tv. Didn't matter about breakfast, I took cereals, dishes etc and toaster and took fresh bottle of milk kept cool in a flask. Shower room just opposite the door, very clean. Only sharing with one other room. Nice lounge area downstairs. Amazing cheap break for a little family, our grandson loved it, so quiet too. Literally 5 minutes from Scarborough. Food quite good in pub and staff lovely.

Can't think of anything except a mat for outside shower would be useful to stand on.

Wow what a amazing stay , I travelled 60 miles to stay here with my poochie and best 4 days holiday ever ,, I was unsure on public transport as don't know the area and travelled on public transport but the staff and locals was there to help telling me when buses come through the village which was very helpful and all the staff made you feel at home and couldn't do enough for you , even all the locals made you feel at home and very respectful and polite , lovely decorated and very comfy bed , there even provided doggy bowls and treats for your poochie , ive been home less than 24 hours and missing being there already , defiently will be coming back

There wasn't anything I didn't like as the staff and also all the locals made me feel so welcome and at home ,

Lovely location and cute stone built Pub served food bur we ventured out to dine as just 1 night so wanted to explore we went to The Tow Bar and down to Cayton Bay for sunset beach walk beautiful The accommodation was everything we needed for the 1 nights stay and slept well waking up to tye use of kettle and coffee and tea selection with milk sachets was a plus before leaving checkout time of 10.30am and finding a local cafe for breakfast. Thankyou for our stay

Some shower gel options would have been a plus but we did have some with us luckily but not everyone does...

Superb location with lots of parking for your car overnight. Only a short 20 min walk (or 5 minute drive) to the nearby park and ride into Scarborough. Poachers Barn had recently been taken over by new management and the new staff were fabulous. The room was spotlessly clean and very spacious and the bathroom was immaculate. The bed was extremely comfy and the soft bed linen and lovely quality pillows made for a super nights sleep. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff and the locals were lovely. We took our little dog, who was the centre of attention for everyone in the pub who loved him. There was no noise from the pub when we went to bed. We ate at Poachers barn and the food was really lovely and excellent value for money. The pub itself has a lovely feel to it, I especially with the stone walls and there was plenty of space to sit, either in the main bar or the dining area. Would highly recommend. Great value for money, a lovely stay and we will definitely come back again.

Nothing - it was a lovely stay and all round we were happy with everything.

Poachers Barn is out of the way, I cycled the 3 miles from the train station. When I asked where I could leave my bike overnight I was allowed to bring it inside - very helpful. It is quiet at night because of the location. The inn itself is quite busy and food is served at lunch times and in the evenings.

Not everyone likes a first floor accommodation, but this is only a minor issue for me. I prefer more space between the sides of the bed and the walls, but this would not stop me returning.
