We loved our stay in Sofia, the staff is helpful and friendly, the buffet breakfast was delicious, the bed was comfortable and the shower modern and the view in our room stunning. The air conditioner worked perfectly. The swimming pool is so nice,, I can really promote this hotel. We loved it here.

We were not allowed to charge any extras to our room. This policy left a bitter taste. We toured the whole of Sri Lanka for a month and paid everywhere only with our checkout for our stay and extras. I am not sure if Sofia had bad experiences with tourists leaving without payment. I witnessed also an incident where a customer was very unhappy with this policy and said that he will never come to this hotel again. I suggested that this policy should be reviewed.

I liked everything about this place. The room was modern and comfortable. Breakfast was very varied. The service was top class and the views from the roof terrace made for a great way to ring in the new year.

As other customers have said, their policy means that every room has to be inspected at check out. This can delay the check out process. I was aware of this and I allowed enough time. For me, it took around 20 minutes. Best to know this if you have a flight to catch. The only thing that I could have wished for is a bar by the rooftop pool!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in Colombo, thanks to Jimi, who went above and beyond to make my visit special. His kindness and care made all the difference, ensuring I had everything I needed. I was so impressed by his service that I booked the same hotel again for my last night in Colombo. The hotel itself is great, but it’s the exceptional staff like Jimi who make it truly unforgettable. Highly recommend!

Clean and comfortable rooms, good view

Dining room staff need training in attending to customer needs. The hotel booked an event during my stay and closed the dining room. They expected existing guests to move to a makeshift dining room or use in room dining. Needed to manage existing guests’ needs better.

We booked the hotel to spend our last night in Colombo before catching our flight back home. It was a perfect stay before a long flight, very comfortable, super friendly staff and good food. The young lady who served our breakfast, Afraiz and Raj took really good care of us. Everything in the room was brand new and the shower exceptionally modern, warm and clean. The view towards the sea is beautiful and it’s easy to watch the sunset.

The staff is very friendly but the amount of people taking care of you can sometimes feels a bit overwhelming.

The staff at Sofia hotel go above and beyond to see to the needs and comforts of the guests at the hotel. During our over a week stay at Sofia, Ajith and Kalpana made sure we were well taken care of in the dining hall. Sofia staff Dinithi, Shalika and Kapilia made sure our hotel stay was wonderful and all our needs are taken care of. Even though Sofia did not have a business center, the staff at Sofia got the copies and printouts we needed for our business work. The Hotel has excellent WiFi in the rooms and common areas, more than fast enough to run online business.

You do need to have a small business center. I informed this to your staff. Everyone has cellphones and laptops and do not need a large business center. However, a room where you can make photocopies, print and fax documents are still needed.

I arrived on a very early morning flight and was received by Jimi and the concierge team. I was extremely tired and weary from a long journey. They made me feel instantly at ease and provided with a tour of the property and information about Sri Lanka and the hotel. I was then allowed an early check in. I can't thank the team at Sofia more for making my arrival in Sri Lanka so wonderful. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful and my room was luxurious and comfortable. I can't recommend it enough. Location was also fantastic, views spectacular, food delicious and the pool was devine.

Everything was wonderful

Staff were very friendly and helpful as I was recovering from a major surgery after being discharged from hospital. I stayed for 12 nights and spent most of my time in the hotel. The Boy on our floor Shalika was very attentive and helpful to our needs. The place was clean and had good room service and a good chef which were the things I needed for my recovery to go smoothly. Management regularly asked if how I was doing and even called a few times to make sure I had everything I needed. The view and the rooftop were also amazing. Overall a great stay made better by friendly staff.

The hotel is fantastic and offers excellent value for your money. The rooftop view is amazing, and the rooms are comfortable. They also have a modern gym. Plus, the staff is super friendly, making your stay enjoyable.
