Very helpful and polite staff even stayed behind on her shift a little for us due to traffic getting there the hotel is situated in the town plenty of pubs clubs and restaurants on the doorstep ranging from all origins was very happy with the price you get what you pay for so don't expect the Ritz we had the family room which had very comfortable beds 1 which was a 7ft emperor bed and 2 singles all nice warm comfortable clean bedding pretty large TV big bathroom which was clean but very out dated but as I say you get what you pay for and I have no complaints at £60 for the night thanks for having us and looking forward to staying again

The location was great, all places we planned to visit on Saturday were actually on the same street. There was Baggins Books Bazaar opposite the hotel and the hotel looked amazing from outside as well. It was very easy to see it from far away, because it looked like the biggest hotel in that area. There was a number of parking spaces at the back available for us. The interior of the hotel was very antique and beautiful with the beautiful, wide enough and low stairs, which made me easy to go through due to my legs problems. The administrator of the hotel was very nice, friendly and helpful to us form the first moment we saw her. We were amazed with the size of bed, it looked so big as it was supposed to be for three people, but then we realised that those were two beds put together. Anyway, we enjoyed sleeping on clean bedsheets and clean purely white four pillows (more than needed, thanks!).. There was a lot of other useful staff as two new big and two small white towels, toiletries and sachets of tea and coffee with the kettle. There was a very nice view from the window as well, where we could see the church! The room was quit big as well and I really enjoyed the mirrors everywhere. The shower and toilet facilities were in order and it was very clean in the shower cabin with the strong water flow where it was unblocked, really appreciated! They have provided us with tens of hangers instead of the wardrobe, which I found very practical. We really liked the TV in the room as well with a lot of English channels. Finally, I would like to tell that we didn't have any stress with the closing doors time at nights, because we were given the keys form the outside door and the gates, which we found easy to manage.

The arm-chair in the room was very old with the dirty upholstery. They could have covered it with something clean on the top, so we could have used it for sitting.

We stayed in a Deluxe King Size Suite. Huge room, huge comfortable bed. Lovely bathroom with rolled top bath. Very affordable at only £68. Friendly staff and very helpful.

I'd stayed before many years ago but this visit the decor looked very tired. Both net curtains were torn, a fitted wardrobe had a badly fitted curtain over it instead of a door. Only one bedside table and lamp. Carpet in common areas in need of a steam clean. There used to be a bar and I'm sure an area where you could get tea, coffee and a sandwich. Minimal options in the room for tea/coffee etc. No information in the room apart from a poster on the door.

I visited your hotel for a stop over after the superboxx concert. The location was perfect! Everything was straight forward to check in. My room was on the top floor. Although it’s not modern decor, and some things could have been improved- it served the purpose I needed. Tea/coffee supplies and a kettle, towels folded nicely with travel toiletries included and the bed in room 29 was lovely to sleep on. You do hear doors banging when people come in and out of their rooms, but it’s to be expected in a hotel of that age. It was lovely to wake up the next day to hear the bells ringing from the cathedral. Being on top floor was nice because we couldn’t hear much noise from the entertainment establishments on the high street. Thank you for a good stay.

Needed a shelf in the bathroom. Could do with carpet replenishing and fan in the room needs to be cleaned.

Location, good value for money ,friendly staff, great room , everything in it tv, coffee and tea provided.

4 steep stairs to Bath room, low ceiling so you had to remember to keep your head down as you went Up the stairs. Floor gets slippely when wet. The bath Room besides this very good very big ,big bath and Shower. The room was big had fan and heater. This was room 11 so next time we stay again ,I will make.sure I don't have this room. I so 69 so room not for me. Must have bath room on some level. Other then this one problem , room OK.

The bed !! Was amazing, huge, and like sleeping on a cloud it was huge, soooo comfortable, the duvet was also so light and lovely fabric, so comfortable i didnt want to get out of it !! & lovely new bedroom carpet. The hotel really is in the centre of everything, perfect for visiting the castle and local shops. The Cheese room is highly recomended just a few metres away. Lovely old building with lots of character and steeped in history

i love the fact that the hotel is old and steeped in history, but they really need to replace carpets in hallways and touch up here n there paintwork, the rooms are lovely but the hallways let it down massively. But for the price, we paid, we would not complain.

We simply needed comfortable beds for the night, close to an event we had been to in the town. This is exactly what we got. Luckily, there was a space in the free car park which we were told was not guaranteed. We didn't pay for anything we didn't need which made our overnight stay very good value for money!

There were quite a few stairs to climb to reach our floor. The en suite bathroom was a little small but we managed. The general appearance of the place was in keeping with the age of the building but could do with a bit of TLC.

Great location for visiting the castle and cathedral and the many restaurants and bars on the High Street. The car park is in the courtyard which has the gate closed at night, so much more secure than the nearby car parks. Rom was good for the price. Staff are friendly. Free WiFi. The photos are of the High Street from our bedroom window.

The hotel is a bit run down but is full of character. Shame that there isn't a restaurant or bar, but there are many within a short distance nearby.

The staff went above and beyond for me, nothing was too much trouble for them. I had to move rooms because I extended my stay and all doubles were booked up, but the staff moved my things into my new room whilst I was at work. The twin room I was in was really spacious. There was no kettle in room but the staff got me one straight away.

It was a little tired and run down but it's an old building so you expect that. Lack of plug socket by the bed.
