The room appears to be newly renovated, with no unpleasant odors. I really appreciate the pleasant view outside my window. Furthermore, I would like to extend my gratitude to Miss Harada (原田) for her genuine and sincere assistance in helping me find a restaurant for dinner. Although the restaurant serving soup curry had run out of rice, I was content with purchasing a piece of piping hot fried chicken—a delightful treat on a snowy night.It’s just a five-minute walk to the ropeway for viewing the Zao Snow Monsters.

The young lady at the front desk seemed impatient when I asked for more information about Zao Mt. Snow Monster. She handed me an English version and quickly wrapped up the conversation with an "OK," as if to discourage further questions. Additionally, the front desk is often unattended until you press the bell, and the staff appear very passive in receiving guests. Comparing the staff here to those at Kokusai, I believe Shiki could greatly improve its staff training. Lastly, the breakfast was disappointing—the tomatoes were not fresh, and most of the items seemed to be semi-processed and reheated.

The hotel itself is very nice. Quiet and warm!

I did not like one of the check in staff. She was impatient and giving me a face as if I was annoying her. But she was not able to communicate in English, and every time I showed her the translations, she gave me a face and started to speak in Japanese to herself. I thought it was very rude, as if she was speaking inappropriate language in front of me. I honestly suggest the hotel to at least find someone who can at least communicate with foreigners, so they don’t miss the business from foreign guests.

Meals were great for both breakfast and dinner. Dinner repertoire were limited as we stayed for 5 nights. Hotels were new and love the outdoor and indoor Onsen. That was the main highlight..

Staff spoke very English but all tried very hard with google translate. We were rather frustrated when we seek help for getting to a hospital to sort out twisted knee and ACL. We managed in the end and was well.

The English speaking receptionist answer our question quickly. Just 3 minutes walk to the ropeway station. The dinner is good taste and the waiter and waitress do their best to service us. There are free shuttle pick up to/from the Yamagata Station. We are also have hot spring in sister hotel. Good hotel.

The first service us receptionist does not explain about the sister hotel hot spring and hotel facilities when we arrived hotel at afternoon.

This beautiful hotel is in a great location. It only took us a 10-minute walk from the JR Station and a 5-minute walk from the ropeway station. The dinner was superb, with a variety of delicate Japanese dishes and grill beef. The famous beef was so tender and delicious. We were so full and the staff offered us take-away dessert that we could enjoy later in our room. Free shuttle bus service from Yamagata JR Station to the hotel could be reserved in advance. Great service!

Some smell of smoke in the corridor, even it is a non-smoking hotel.

Great breakfast. the sulfuric onsen in '108 steps' was excellent and does amazing things to your skin. Plenty of parking at the site. The junior suite was clean, comfortable and provide lots of space.

Hotel is far from city centre and a fair climb to the ski lifts. A direct stair would be better. Missing amenities in some onsen such as shaving cream, moisturising lotion and tooth brush. Staff can have better english.

A hotel with large room size and excellent service. Staying here felt like living in a Singapore 3 rooms flat. So large and comfortable and they even provide a massage chair in the room for guests to enjoy. Perfect location and we truly enjoyed the dinner.

Nothing. This is the hotel I would not hesitate to recomand my friends to come stay.

Servers are all friendly, especially our dinner and breakfast male server is excellent and very polite. We have a very good stay there.

Dining areas are not ventilated well, full of grilled meat smells even in the elevator.

Spacious, courteous staff and free shuttle bus from Yamagata Station to the hotel. The hotel dinner was exceptional, and breakfast included a great variety of food. The outside onsen was cosy, and they provided a common pantry for use; there were drinks, ice cream, and manga to enjoy. They even had a call service to call you to catch the shuttle bus. The place is also within walking distance to the ropeway. Overall, stay was beyond satisfaction.

Everything was perfect - room was spacious and comfortable, onsens relaxing. Most of all, the staff particularly in the restaurant were incredible - we were looked after as “special” guests and they did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious.
