We really liked our room, room 3, which faced the water and houses just across. The shower was good and strong, and the toilet was large. Beds were comfortable, and the room was nicely heated. More than enough space to open luggage and store items. Breakfast spread, which we paid for, was more than sufficient, and we were even allowed to take away extras. Note that during winter no restaurants are open in town, and you have to eat at Egilsstaðir, the town half an hour before. The drive can be challenging in the winter. The hotel did inform us of this nearing our stay date, but wish we knew earlier. I want to say we may not have chosen to stay at Hotel Aldan instead, but guess what? We saw the Northern Lights clear and bright, dancing across the sky. So bonus points I guess haha!
I didn't like that I had to call upon arrival. I only had a data-only SIM, would have appreciated if it was a number I could Whatsapp. We had to ask the lady at the supermarket for help and she chided us for not having a phone that could call. It would also be helpful to let guests know that the check-in location is in a different location from the hotel beforehand.

We were in the old post office across the bridge. It was described as a very small double and so it was. No complaints it was as described. Downstairs was a common space referred to as a kitchen, No heating. No hob to cook !!!!!! . But ok to sit. On level 1 a comfy space at the end of the bedroom corridor to sit, settees and a radiator and lovely. The room itself. Good for a night. Longer than that the lack of space is too uncomfortable. But for one night. Fine.
The road coming in was snowy. If driving in? it is high and exposed to snow and ice. We drove out and the road was dangerous. This was week two September and beware. You can get trapped here.

A beautiful hotel and hotel room, decorated with era-appropriate art and amenities. There’s also lots of little nooks to relax. It took my breath away when I walked in, and kept me happy and impressed for the days I was there. It’s in a cool little town and walking distance from everything. Really helpful staff, be sure to speak to them if you have any out-of-the-ordinary requests, and they’ll help you make it work.
It’s an old building, so pretty thin walls and small rooms. Make sure you use headphones when watching videos or listening to music when others might want to be sleeping.

We stayed in the ‘very small room’ and they weren’t kidding. Everything about the room was very small except for queen size bed. The sink, the shower, and the room itself were all very small. It’s in a great location, and it is charming. It was very clean and the bed was fairly comfortable.
Breakfast was not included and I felt it should have been for the price. When we arrived to check in at the reception desk the young woman was talking with a guy from the kitchen and didn’t even acknowledge us - a simple ‘I will be with you in just a minute’ would have been nice. We just stood there and stood there and stood there…….a bit rude really.

We stayed during down season, so we didn't expect it to be so quiet in the town. It was beautiful though and we enjoyed it very much. The host was very responsive and helpful. The place was lovely and right next to the pond.
The wifi connection was spotty, which made it hard for my wife to do some work while we were there, but that's not why you come here! No big complaints.

We had the superior family room which was in a separate building away from the main. The room or more accurately, the studio unit was located just next to the fjord with a lovely view. It was tastefully decorated, comfortable and relaxing place for a short stay. Only basic amenities in the room like kettle, cups, fridge.
The sink's design is not made for brushing teeth. You cannot bend without knocking your head against the cabinet/ledge so be careful.

Hotel Aldan Old Post Office The hotel is super centrally located in this pretty place! Parking in front of the house. Reception in the very nearby restaurant of the hotel - friendly and uncomplicated. We had rented 2 different room types: - Apartment for 3 people on the ground floor. Very large, bright, well and somewhat stylishly furnished. Very comfortable beds, one of them in an alcove! Pleasant bath. Small fridge, kettle and some crockery available. Efficient heating. Beautiful view directly to the Fijord. It should be emphasized in particular that there is a small lounge with a large sofa, armchairs, etc. ... great! - Single room on the first floor: Bright and simply furnished. Cramped, especially the bathroom with mini sink. good bed A little noisy. Overall acceptable. Ate excellent fish in the beautiful hotel restaurant! Points: Apartment 10 single room 8 Overall: 9 points

Charming hotel, wonderfully located. Rooms in the old post office were small but comfortable and there is also a sitting room to relax. Friendly staff at the reception building. Breakfast buffet with a lot of options, very tasteful.
Rooms a bit warm with only a small window that can be opened for fresh air. Single glass windows on street side means you hear some of the traffic but it is a quiet town, so not too bad.

The location is fantastic. We arrived at the end of the day driving up the East coast coming from Egilsstadir. The road from Egilsstadir goes over mountains and the view is absolutely gorgeous. The town of Seyðisfjörður is quaint and easily walkable. We stayed in two of the bottom rooms in the old post office building. The rooms were decent sized and we had no trouble fitting in them with luggage. Both rooms had refrigerators and electric kettles and instant coffee and tea. This property is one of three managed from a central office in the town, so the "Hotel Alden" appears to be the company and the "Post Office" is one of their properties. It was a little confusing when trying to search for it on the map, but since the town is so small, it's nearly impossible to miss. The views are fantastic. Be aware, this is a port town. We woke up to a cruise ship in the harbor in the morning and by the time we checked out, the area was pretty flooded with tourists. So, I suggest walking the town in the evening or early morning, especially if you want quiet pictures of the landmarks without too many tourist obstructions.
Nothing. The property was great, the people were friendly, and the area was so scenic.

This lodging was fantastic! The location is right on the water with a lovely view....the sunset with the reflection in the water was unbelievable. The room was comfortable and really felt like 3 rooms in one....there was plenty of space for the 3 (adults) of us. The lodging is well maintained and the beds were comfortable as was the living room area. The "kitchen area" is small but has all that you need. The lodging is in a restored Post Office which is pretty cool. Finding the check-in point was a bit confusing as it is at a restaurant just before the bridge as you come into town. But once we found it the service was quick and friendly. We were even able to secure some ice for our cooler for our departure day. The town is lovely and the people are very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the Bistro under the Arts Center....it was fantastic! I would stay here again.
