Very clean spacious and well set up. Great comfy bed, big tv, great kitchen. Really close to the Pucks glen walk. Owner was responsive and helpful. Got everything to function well with her help. I suggest you read all the instructions well and the stay will go nicely.

Needed to read online compendium to manage place inc heating, wifi, hot water etc. locked second room..made me feel like a yob. As did the security deposit we had to pay which didn’t notice on booking.com though apparently it is there. No tea and coffee. Cold..we were freezing until we got the heating up to bearable. But it was an unusually cold weekend and this is a cabin. No showers til day two when we got the water heater to work which ended up being simple. A long drive to see the rest of Lomond and Trossachs National park and long drive back. Should have done our research better.

Calltain Lodge is an adorable home from home, situated in a small glen surrounded by tall standing trees. The cabin itself keeps nice and cool in the hot weather and maintains a comfortable temperature during the evening. It is well-decorated and homely, with easy to work utilities such as a smart TV, shower, dishwasher and thermostat. The owners were very friendly and informative ahead of our arrival, recommending different days out, nearby attractions and places to eat.

The only things I would say are that the water tank is quite loud whenever water has been in use (toilet flushed, for example) and the trickling lasts for quite a long while (not sure if there’s anything you can do about that however). The doorstep on the porch also needs looking at as it catches your foot when crossing the threshold. And just a small personal preference - I like knowing there’s clothes washing facilities onsite and there didn’t seem to be.

Really cosy & relaxing stay in the cabin in the middle of the nature, with Loch Eck nearby. Very quiet, easily accessible, parking place in front of the windows, woods walks on the door step. You can do day trips to Glencoe/ Highlands, Oban etc from Rashfield. The lodge is very well equipped with all sorts of things, from the kitchen stuff to general household (torches, games, books) to furniture & appliances. We were welcomed with a little treat of oatcakes etc. In our Calltainn cottage we had 2 bedrooms, sitting room with a dining table, a kitchen and a bathroom and it felt very comfortable for 4 people. Very detailed information & guidance on everything given. Good coomunication with the hosts. We booked it for Cowal Games stay, the lodge was a short drive from there, no problem finding it. We drove from Glasgow via a car ferry, by Western Ferries, departing from just outside of Gourock, all well signposted. Ferry tickets are much cheaper if bought from local shops - Coop/other convenience shops in Gourock - on the way to the ferry port, they have no expiry date.

We had a wobble with the toilet system flushing, but we let the hosts know and Stephen turned up almost immediately, late in the evening, to have a look in order to fix it. The notifications/ messaging system feels excessive, it seems you get a lot of repeated /doubled up messages from different platforms. This was mentioned in previous reviews, - might be worth changing something in settings/ unticking some box to reduce the level of keeping the guests informed.

We stayed in Calltain Lodge for 2 nights. The lodge itself was lovely, clean, spacious and well decorated with everything you needed in the kitchen to prepare a meal. Pucks Glen itself is directly behind the lodges and is stunning. Dunoon and several restaurants are a few miles South and the beautiful Benmore Gardens are just North. Cowal is a beautiful part of Scotland with an island feel. Steve and Liz are responsive to any questions

I have no complaints about the lodge or location but just prepare for the midges in the warmer months!

Perfect lodge in beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable and lots of space for 4 people, super comfy beds and lovely bedding, lovely and cozy, so quiet and peaceful. Kitchen was spotless and plenty crockery etc, lovely clean bathroom, great shower. Loads of information in lodge folder about everything you could need and want to do. Perfectly situated for lots of walks and even just sitting watching the red squirrels ! A lovely home from home.

Nothing, it’s absolutely perfect for us.

Location is absolutely stunning with an amazing walking trail. The lodge itself is nice and cozy. Beds are very comfortable. Board games are a nice extra. Good instructions for how to work all the facilities in the leather book provided. Great communication with the hosts with checking in and out. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Only small complaint toilet is very loud however this was not overly disturbing and did not affect the stay.

The property was lovely, clean and tidy. We felt very safe and comfortable. Had a small internet issue but nothing a good old game of monopoly didn’t fix. Other board games were available which made us very happy. Weather was unfortunately not on our side but still made the most of our time. During evenings we still enjoyed sitting outside undercover listening to the rain. I found the bed super comfortable however my partner woke up with extreme neck pain each night, I’m not going to mark this down because his sleeping habits are bizarre so if you like a flat pillow bring your own!

The only bit of a slight negative feedback, and this is very small. Is the messages from 2 numbers and booking.com messages. 1 number of which you don’t reply to. I counted 7 across our stay which got a bit confusing when trying to find bits of info we had read when we received it. Also there’s some out of date information in the welcome folder. The small cafe next to the service station is now shut :( and the kayaking facebook page i don’t believe exists so a small refresh of the book would be ideal! Other than those 2 very small points which didn’t negatively impact us, the lodge was lovely and will be back!

Beautiful lodge in a great location Fantastic value for money. Got everything one would need for a weekend escape, games, netflix, prime. Wifi was excellent. Very quiet & peaceful retreat Hosts were amazing very good knowledge of local area & always in contact remotely.

Only issues were the toilet filling back up was quite noisy for some time at night until it filled. Water was running cold too. Understandable though in secluded location. Heaters are on timers which can get cold at times.

Lovely lodge inside and out, like being in a real log cabin atmosphere! Plenty of space inside and a range utilities to use! Quiet and peaceful location. Ease of travelling to all areas with amazing scenery. Local shops in nearby town and fuel for everyday needs. Overall a wonderful experience apart from the rainy days we had.

Just the rain.

Most of it, crazy nice beds, great living room, nice wee walk trail right behind cabin, decking was lovely to sit out on, bathroom was fancy and nice.

One of the direction maps lead us to wrong place at beginning, Tv was small, No extraction fan so fire alarm went off a couple times when cooking, No hot water in kitchen tap although dish washer meant it wasn't a massive problem. No first aid kit.
