Candie is a regular stop for us en route to Italy, and it never disappoints. The rooms are period-decorated, very comfortable and with all your favourite extras - Nespresso machine, good toiletries and plenty of hangers (not usual in many French hotels!). The main chateau has the larger rooms. Set above the city of Chambery, the views are spectacular and it is very quiet. There is a lovely swimming pool and walks through the extensive grounds is a real pleasure after a long day in the car. All the staff are friendly and very helpful.

The restaurant seems to be having some trouble with deciding exactly what it wants to serve - it has tried to do over-thought-out 'modern' dishes at high cost; this visit the menu was simpler, but still heavy-handed - I hope it will work out what it wants to be soon.

Completely untrained and incompetent restaurant staff. I did explain this to reception after asking for the restaurant manager who was not there. Food was good But....we were served our desert before the main course and had to wait 1 hour 10 minutes from ordering to actually recieve our main course. Reception told us that adjustments would be made to the not unsubstantial bill the next morning....but nothing was done. Could have been a good stay but we were badly let down. I repeat I did try and resolve this problem while we were there but apart from a bottle of wine given to us nothing was done.

Wonderful location, tucked into woods and hills above Chambéry. It really is a Chateau, with the full complement of period features, but with all modern facilities as well. Room and bed were both huge and extremely comfortable. Fridge, kettle and coffee machine in the room were a nice extra. Breakfast copious and tasty, including perfect scrambled eggs. We didn’t use the spa or the pool, since we only stayed on night, but they were available.

WiFi in the room on the weak side. Apart from that, perfect!

On a hill in a quiet little community away from the bustle of Chambery below, an oasis of calm. A wonderful tree lined drive leading up to a picture perfect ivy clad stone built small chateau. Unobtrusive yet attentive service. The grounds are divided up into a pool area, separate sun terrace and a dedicate restaurant terrace. Lovely food smart bistro style. Super traditional room with modern facilities. No air conditioning but a fan was already on when we arrived and big windows open for fresh air with screens to stop bugs flying in!

A dedicated no smoking area would be nice as this would work on the large outside terrace restaurant.

Very beautiful chateau, with authentically decorated rooms and a spectacular view. Dinner was really good.

The staff is very good, but there should be a bigger crew. They need to cover too much ground which inevitably has an impact on the service. Maintenance of the building and terrains is quite poor.

Highly recommended wonderful serene location. The staff was extremely careful and caring regarding every wish. The pool, even if it is a small one is perfect. The restaurant has an extended wine list, good food and service. For a week stay we loved the place. Happily revisit Chateau Candie anytime.

The bed was so big and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly which is always important. We speak limited French and they helped us understand everything. The rooms are large and unique The breakfast was delicious. Lovely continental

Shower over bath is a little annoying but perfectly acceptable. Everything else was fantastic

Return visit to a very pleasant hotel which is a good stopping point on the way home from Italy

The service at dinner was exceptionally slow and we had to chase our food and drinks several times. There was no milk at breakfast as the delivery hadn’t turned up! We mentioned this at check out and the receptionist immediately rebated the cost of the bottle of wine we had at dinner the previous night.

Good location, nice chateau and surroundings, great swimming pool, good breakfast, great choice of the fresh juices. Delicious food in the restaurant (Le Cantine). Spacious rooms. Friendly staff in the reception.

No air conditioning in the main building - it was extremely needed because we stayed during hot summer days. Service in Le Cantine restaurant don’t match the level of the hotel - mainly unexperienced junior staff. No ventilation in the toilet. No shower head holder in the bathroom. At the beginning we were offered a different room from what we booked but everything was resolved. WiFi is unreliable/disconnecting and you need to perform logon every day.
