Great old style house, curtains on beds, carpet in the room. I must say shower rooms were there best among all other hostels I stayed in UK. Spacious, enough hooks to hang things, water temperature was good too. Also good shared space where you can work or relax. When I checked out I couldn’t use lockers for my suitcase as they all were occupied. But the staff kindly helped me to keep it behind their counter.
Everyone says, I know, but kitchen is way too small. I read the message that it’s hard to change it, but maybe there’s still something they could do to improve it.

Outstanding Experience all round; it's like an old-school reunion but with only your best mates - the entire Staff/Team are truly the BEST in London; hands-down a Master-Class in customer service. I daresay they'd give the Four Seasons a run for their money despite it being labelled a 'hostel'. Everything about Palmer's is spot-on - the Location, Staff, Ambience etc.etc. Where else in London can you get a £7.00 breakfast buffet with freshly baked croissants (daily), free Tea (all day) plus an on-site bar to boot?! Kudos ladies and gentlemen - If I could spend both Christmas and New Years with you I wouldn't hesitate; I'm in Love!
Restrictions on Stays is a heartbreaker folks :-(

Dorms were very spacious with plentiful storage space for each person under the bunk bed.. At night the curtains provided good privacy. The room was very warm at night which was lovely and the beds were extremely comfy and spacious. Rooms were cleaned daily while I was out, so it was always on good condition. And the radiator let me dry my towel throughout the day. Locked myself out of my room once and the staff were very helpful. Spacious bathrooms shower stalls had lovely warm water at good pressure with easy to use knobs for cold and hot, so I didn't get sprayed with freezing or hot water. They were also cleaned daily. Breakfast consisted of different pastries and bread and unlimited hot and cold drinks. With very helpful and friendly staff to guide you if you are confused. Laundry room where you can use am iron for free or wash your clothes, I'm not sure of the washer and dryer cost. They looked like university launderettes size wise. My roommates were very kind and everyone respected each others space. The bedrooms were quiet mostly, as it's where people were resting. Location is very close to 2 underground stations within walking distance and surrounded by many places to eat. Also, very decent price for a week stay. People also turned up on the day without a booking and were able to check in no issue, which was good to see.
The towel I rented was a bit small, perhaps I should have rented an extra one or carried my own for next time. Also I left quite early in the morning before the 7am breakfast so if breakfast started earlier I would have enjoyed it . Additionally, if there were more filling breakfast options such at oat porridge or flapjacks - but that's justy preference. The bathroom gets quite wet and slippery in the morning and evening when many people are using it - I would recommend bringing slippers. Additionally there's not a lot of storage inside the shower stall for your things - most people kept them outside of the bathroom (where it was perfectly safe). None of these things would stop me from staying here again, it was delightful, safe and warm.

The property was clean and tidy, easy to access by tube and the staff were friendly. I really liked the pub in there, which was great with good prices.
I think in time of check in staff should show us the bed, as I came back one night after midnight and my bed was taken by somebody by mistake.

There was a lot to like. The hotel was located right next to the Swiss Cottage Underground station (about 3 mins on foot) but not on a main road, so it wasn't loud around. There were plenty of busses going around as well. Not far from the place is Finchley Road Station, where coaches to and from Luton and Stansted stop. There are a couple of supermarkets right around the location, with a couple more a bit further away at the nearby shopping mall. Right next to the Swiss Cottage Station there's also the Hampstead Theatre, which I had the pleasure of visiting for a play. Highly recommend, the tickets are not particularly expensive. The building itself was magnificent and looked very classy and magical. Exactly like presented in the photos, there wasn't one thing off that I could find. I got a bed in the double-decked 24-bed dormitory, which, frankly, was exactly the room I was hoping for. There was a lot of space, and you could keep your privacy and some of the light out with the thick curtains that each bed was equipped with. Most of the other guests were respectful of the curfew and didn't talk loudly after 10:00 pm. There were some snorers, but that was to be expected in such a big room. There were several gender neutral bathrooms to use, offering a good number of facilities. I never had to wait for a stall or a shower. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was being taken care of, but of course if you went into the shower soon after someone else, it depended on the person before you in what state you would find it. All perfectly understandable with a shared bathroom. Downstairs, there was the pub and a small kitchen. I didn't cook much, but it came in handy for breakfasts and evening snacks. It was very narrow, so no more than 2 people could use it at a time. There's also a luggage storage machine there, very convenient for when you have to check out but still have some time before departure and don't want to drag your luggage along.
You need to bring your own lock for the storage space you are assigned, which I didn't see mentioned anywhere beforehand. The lock can't be too tiny, because there's quite a distance between the lock hole and the edge of the metal piece you lock. My suitcase lock barely cut it once I wiggled it around. Of course, they are more than happy to sell you a suitable lock at the reception.

Everything as a Londoner and not a tourist, I can confirm this is excellent for everyone. Each room and bed had space and storage, and privacy. I was definitely speechless because I didn't expect it to be the same as the pictures I saw at booking.com. It was exactly how it was, if not better, that they have their own shared kitchen facilities, plenty of plates, and cutlery to have your own desired food. If not, you can order from their private beer bar and chill at their garden and they have offers for food and alcohol. Probably the best hostel in London or in England in my opinion and the price is the roughly the same as the other places with the same rate.
I wish they had 1 person private room and also more than 14 days of stay.

Common area great for meeting fellow travelers; curtains around the bed plus charging port, lamp, shelf etc; nearby markets and tube station; walking distance to primrose hill and hampstead heath; plenty of bathrooms so never had to wait; cool building; luggage storage underneath beds. Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff was kind enough to give me a bottom bunk which was actually its own bed no one above me which was great. Slept really well here.
The shared kitchen is really small and narrow so a little challenging when other people are there. The shower temperature a couple of nights was temperamental and would go from warm to very hot.

The location is brilliant. There are three underground stops nearby to take you to the centre and wherever you want to go. You can easily go direct to King's Cross for example. It's a nice part of London with lovely houses and trees etc nearby. The building itself is lovely and feels comfortable and historical. There are curtains on beds which is a key plus for me. Lots of showers, nice staff who make an effort to talk to you when checking in (not everywhere does). It's clean and has recycling points which is cool to dispose of plastic etc properly. Great price too. This was my 2nd stay and I'd definitely come back.
There aren't many sinks on the 2nd floor to get ready/brush teeth etc so you might find yourself going between bathroom areas but overall it's a great place

The staff at Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with any queries or needs, which added a warm and personal touch to the stay. The location is perfect for exploring London’s iconic tourist attractions, as it offers easy access to major landmarks and public transport, making it an ideal choice for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the city. Additionally, the building itself is a historical place, exuding old-world charm with unique features like a display of armor on the second floor, which adds a fascinating and unexpected element to the overall ambiance.
While Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage had its charm, there were a few aspects that could be improved. The doors to the rooms seemed to need better maintenance, as they didn’t feel as sturdy or smooth as expected. The toilets were quite narrow, and an expansion would make them more comfortable for guests. The kitchen, though functional, felt too small to accommodate the needs of all visitors, especially during busy hours. Additionally, the dormitory setup had its challenges; the sound of everyone snoring, including myself, was hard to ignore! It made me wonder if there could be a way to better isolate the beds—perhaps some kind of encapsulated design or soundproofing to provide more privacy and reduce noise.
