This is a beautiful old hotel with loads of character. Although a bit tired around the edges it's set in lovely grounds and the parking is great with easy access to the hotel. The staff were brilliant and the breakfast was delicious 😋. I'd definitely stay again as the location is brilliant for getting to walks and lakes!! 👍

The only fault I'd have was my single room was a bit tired and the bed wasn't the greatest comfy wise. It also had no view whatsoever just looked out into the middle of the hotel which wasn't great!! Everything else was spot on!! 😃

The staff were extremely good , friendly without being intrusive, and very helpful . Nothing was too much trouble . There was an efficient and relaxed atmosphere. The food was also very good. Tasty and freshly cooked , and value for money . I couldn't fault the cleanliness especially for what looks like an old building.

The building, although clean , was tired looking , and some of the bedroom furniture looked the same way . ( I stayed in room 5 ) The window in my bedroom didn't close firmly ( although I'll admit that this gave the advantage of me being woken by birdsong ......never a bad thing !!) and the curtains wouldn't close fully . Bathroom taps could do with being replaced too .

Needed r & r and got it in bucketloads. All staff were wonderful & the food was great. Our room was larger than I had imagined. Can't recommend this hotel enough. Our dog, Sofie, was treated like a queen & she, being blind, was very, very happy with all the strokes & treats she was given 😁😁😁

Place could do with a little tlc but this adds to the character of this listed building. Lighting in our room not too good

Staff were super friendly! The food and the rooms were excellent.

Lack of internet service and wifi connection upstairs, where the rooms are. No front of house lighting - could do with motion sensor lights. The sign in the car park about not being responsible for our cars was not worded in a nice way - it didn’t give a good feeling when we parked. The wording of the disclaimer could be reworded in a more comforting way.

the service in restaurant was pretty ordinary had to wait 50 minutes for meal after ordering without apology and that was after the waitress had taken two orders for meals that were not available. That said when the third choice of meal finally arrived it was actually pretty good. The hotel is obviously a bit tired and in need of an up date in bathrooms etc but that didn’t effect our stay at all. If service was better would have given higher score

Lovely large bedroom and very large bed. Looked out onto the substantial gardens great to walk Billy our dog around, very close to Longlands Park and lake. We only had breakfast which was great and Billy got a sausage of his own. The dining room was lovely staff so friendly

The only problem we really had was the shower we couldn't regulate it from burning hot despite instructions from the staff so ended up going without as too risky.

The staff were friendly & helpful. The bedroom were large, clean & comfortable. The food was excellent. Plenty of room for the dog, who was allowed in all areas.

The old adage applies, don't judge a book by its cover. The building is very "tired" & could do with money spending on it, but as a Grade 2 listed building this would make it exceedingly expensive. But if you look past the cosmetics it is a very nice, reasonably priced hotel.

Breakfast variety and cooked meal is good. The staff are attentive and the service mostly good. The grounds and rooms are excellent.

Dance music was playing in the fine dining restaurant at dinner (on both evenings we dined there) (?) Does not suit the atmosphere at all. Burnt toast under my two poached eggs one morning. On two occasions, staff came to clear the table before we had finished eating (without asking if we had finished, just asked if we had enjoyed the meal). This felt rushed.

Lovely traditional house. The lady on reception was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help with a problem we had. The room was lovely, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great, and the presentation was good. Service was efficient and quick. Would recommend.

Would have liked a booklet in room maybe telling us history of the house and details of breakfast times and what was on the evening dinner menu. Also where fire exits where. And maybe telling us good places to visit while in area.

It could be a bit more clean,we had an small issue with locking and unlocking our room,lock it was not working properly,there is a nice big bathroom that fits in a nice tub and shower on the other side of bathroom,when decided to have a warm bath I discovered that there were no shower gel,no shampoos or conditioner,it was just inside the shower a small pump and next to sink a pump with hand wash,so if you don’t carry your personal stuff impossible to use that bath wich was a bit disappointed
