Hospederia Palacio de Caseafuerte is a beautifully restored, family run palace, nestled in the small town of Zarraton. The setting, very calm and peaceful, provided a perfect environment from which to launch our trip across Spain. The family is friendly, kind, helpful and committed to excellence in everything. The common spaces, rooms and bathrooms are beautifully appointed. The grounds provide an expansive common space. Breakfast is unmatched - in addition to the usual items found in a Spanish breakfast buffet - meats, cheeses, fruit, breads, coffee, tea - the orange juice is fresh squeezed and eggs are made to order, any style. The bodegas of Haro were just a short drive as were other, larger towns in La Rioja. We will visit again.

Honestly, there was nothing we did not like. Everything surpassed out expectations.

From booking, to near enough instant contact from Daniel with regards to checking in. Warm welcome from Daniel and his Father. Advice on where to eat in the town and further a field in Haro (10 minutes away and was superb at Terete, 2nd visit). Secure parking on premises for which we were grateful. The whole Palacio was spotlessly clean. Due to age and thickness of walls the building was lovely and cool. Our room was very spacious, beautiful views, comfortable including the bed. There was a safe deposit box should you need its use, mini fridge, toiletries etc. We slept well wishing we were staying longer here. Breakfast! A warm welcome by a lovely lady who we believe to be Daniel’s Mum who served us super coffee and offered a hot breakfast for which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. The buffet spread was out of this world, fresh fruit juice, fruit, cold meats (delicious), fresh fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurt, wonderful bread, jams. It was so relaxing and just sitting in the dining room imagining the history held in the walls. Fabulous stay no one could find fault. Thank you so very much.

Absolutely nothing, it was perfect. We look forward to staying again.

The bed and pillows were comfortable; the shower was good. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits and home made sweat bread. The common areas inside the building have nice traditional decorations. The building is right next to a church and the town is not too far from Haro, which has many wineries.

Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed for Sunday, as well as Monday due to a large party coming for lunch on Tuesday. And the little town is very quiet and doesn’t have much to offer. The table and floor were dusty.

Spectacular! It feels like you are staying in a well-preserved palace. Lovely sitting areas outside. In a quiet village with easy access to the lovely town of Haro. Convenient onsite parking. Great linens . Breakfast was fabulous, complete with freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs cooked to choice and a large array of delicious foods to choose from.

The look and location of the place, a lovingly beautiful restored building, very grand. Host were great very friendly and informative, couldn't do enough for you. Room very spacious lovely furnishings, bed comfortable with large modern bathroom. Wide choice for breakfast, well presented set in a lovely dining area, the restaurant only open on a weekend so a short stroll into the village to the Tapas bar. Motorcycle parking was secured and under cover.

Leaving.

Exceptional small ( 5 rooms ) boutique hotel in a lovely renovated 15th Century palace. Three feet thick sandstone walls with massive timer beams. Its location in a small and very quiet village in the Roija area was perfect. Thirty minutes travel at the most to all of the many wineries and hill top villages. The breakfast was exceptional, as good as any 5 start hotel we have stayed at. Being run by the mother and son owners, the service was also exception, very professional and friendly. It was a 5 star experience at a 3 star price. Cannot recommend highly enought.

Rooms should have tea and coffee making facilities. A strange oversight.

Unlike many other stays in more conventional hotels, this palace shows an exceptional charm reminiscent of the last centuries, although perfectly rehabilitated to provide the best comfort. About the owners, the friendly treatment makes you feel like in your own family to ask, and be well informed, about sites, events and tours of beautiful places in La Rioja. Undoubtedly a place to be remembered with pleasure and to return without any doubt.

The only thing would be the need to use a car to get around the visiting sites, although if you travel calmly I imagine that public transport or the use of a bicycle would be possible.

Amazing accomodation and services in the very nice middle age La Rioja village. You stay like "in the castle".

This is not to be understood as critic of the accomodation, just for information of potential trevellers - need a car to get there and during the days when the restaurant in the accomodation is closed there is no good alternative restaurant in the village, just a bar - you need to travel to Haro (apr.6km)

Lovely hotel. We had a lovely large room, in a beautiful period property which the manager/owner told us they had spent several years restoring. The manager/owner and other staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast (included) was lovely with a large choice of meats, cheese, fruit and breads/cakes - lovely, and a choices of eggs (we had an omelette and poached eggs). fresh orange juice etc.. They also catered for me being a coeliac and needing a gluten-free option. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely, fantastic food and one of the best risottos I have ever tasted. Huge portions and lots of local (meaty) specialities. The wine list was fantastic and the owner/manager recommended two really excellent wines. They remembered I was gluten free. Not the cheapest meal we had on this trip but definitely the best. The restaurant is clearly a draw for the area (understandably as the food was lovely) and I was told they hold weddings there most weekends. We arrived on a motorbike and secure parking in their garage was provided. Great location in terms of the Rioja region (close to Haro and Briones) and near lots of vineyards/wineries etc. Unfortunately the little village is very quiet (as apparently many houses are holiday homes) and as we were at the end of the season it was effectively deserted (not even a shop). However, as long as you have transport it would not stop me staying again. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.

The weather (which they can't control), we were really unlucky and arrived when it was unseasonably cold and wet - it brightened up when we left.

Historically intetesting and impressive building and location. Easy parking on site. Helpful receptionist. Well appointed comfortable room and en suite. Comfortable beds. Good food in the evening and breakfast.

One of the sliding doors in the cupboard had come off its track and couldn't be opened. In the evening there was no bar staff at all, meaning that you couldn't have a drink at, say, 8,30pm before the restaurant opened at 9pm
