At the check-out I was asked how was my stay and what did not like, that is a big plus and amazing customer service 👏🏻 (A BIG THANKS TO ELLA & JOSH, along with all the reception staff) - Reception available 24 hours BUT main door close at 8pm - GOKI app to have your own room key and main door entrance with Bluetooth access on the phone (make sure your phone is always charged) - Well connected with transportation and you can walk to reach it - Big place with all young people and facilities - Spacious room, locker available (bring your own padlock or buy one), shelf available to put your belongings, light and socket available BUT THERE IS NO CURTAIN at the window to cover the day light - Good spacious toilets and showers, always clean at all time BUT NO SHELF AVAILABLE OUTSIDE THE SHOWER - Massive kitchen with all pots,pans,cutlery, fridge,vending machine, kettle ( you can cook an actual meal in it) BUT IT CLOSES AT 10PM (midnight maybe would be better) - Cash machine ATM available (obviously there is an extra charge to withdraw) - Laundry - Dryer - Big Luggage store BUT the door is always open till 11pm, there is a camera cctv inside but could be lock and get a code i suppose - Free water dispenser in reception area - Massive area with games, sofas, books to read and exchange - Green policies to help environment/communities - A great vibe with international young guests and some free drinks / snacks available at the PUB Scary Canary next to the hostel Would I come back? - wifi works but it gets on/off sometimes due to having many people connected - Outside the shower there could be an area to put your belongings, rather than putting on the floor - There was no window curtain to cover the sunlight, in my room, but apparently other rooms have - Toilets can be bit far away from actually rooms - Kitchen closes at 10pm, could be closing later i suppose - The noise coming from the pub next to it during evening/nights, for me was minimal, but it depends where are you located. After arriving at reception hoping for an early check in I was greeted by Britt who was not only super friendly and helpful but also informed me that my room had been upgraded 🤩 After being in a working hostel for the last 4 months this place felt like complete luxury!! -beds had a comfy pillow and duvet -controllable air con allowing you to increase the room temperature which was defo needed after coming from Queensland -beds had curtains, charging points and a light -well equipped kitchen

Loud noise from the Bar downstairs

I have stayed at this property twice in a private room and a private room with ensuite. Both times the rooms were clean and comfortable with windows for fresh air and a nice bed that was cosy, had a good doona and 2 pillows per person. The shared bathrooms are clean and modern. When staying here remember, it is a backpackers so it's not ritzy, but as a couple who are well past our years of staying in shared dorms, this is a fantastic option for us and we will be staying here whenever we visit Sydney from now on.

Clean places for the amount of people that can stay here. Good amount of kitchen equipment and space people that work here are very friendly

If you’re a solo traveler I wouldn’t recommend this place. Yes the place is clean and good enough but if your wanting to make friends and do things with people from here it’s near impossible, iv noticed they don’t have a tv room for people to connect over watching something together, no pool table that people can use to play games together, just a sitting room that plays loud music that you can’t even think over. They do “events” which iv noticed only 3-7 people go to. They have the bar next door that you can play pool at and drink but when you’re on your own you don’t want to sit in a bar on your own looking like a looser. Just that sense of community isn’t at this hostel.

Excellent location, very close to Darling Harbour. Staff were all amazing, extremely welcoming and friendly. Beds were clean and comfortable. Dorm was large and spacious with a big drawer under the beds to store belongings. Lots of plugs to charge phones although they were in the middle of the dorm room. WiFi usually worked very well. Water dispenser in the reception was useful. The female sanctuary rooms had an area outside the rooms with mirrors, hairdryers and straighteners which was great. There were lots of washers and dryers available which accepted card payment. There was lots of social activities put on by the hostel.

The main issue was the cleanliness of the property, although this seemed mainly due to other guests not cleaning their own mess. The showers often had hair stuck to walls and the toilet floors were usually wet. The kitchen surfaces and tables were usually covered in food and there was only one kettle for a large kitchen. There was rarely more than one tea towel or cloth available. However, we did notice staff making an effort to clean the kitchen and toilets sometimes but not often enough to keep up with the mess.

Super social atmosphere, scary canary is so much fun. Met some amazing people that will be friends for life. The world is a lot smaller now that I have friends from all across the world that I plan on visiting. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for my East coast trip. I will definitely be staying at other nomads locations! The vibe here is great for solo travelers. Easy location and lots of fun daily activities. Thank you nomads !

Can't fault the staff or the location here! Super friendly, social staff and some good events to meet people! Facilities are pretty good and the hostel is attached to a bar that has a great vibe! Had an issue with my initial room but the staff at Reception were so eager to help when I asked and it was resolved so fast. 10/10 service.

Washing/drying facilities need some work but the guy are Reception said they are looking to improve these soon.

I love where it is easy to get to Oxford Street and go out and a nice 18 minute walk back I definitely recommend There is also a room with games like ping pong and there are lounges that you can just hang out on which is really fun when you have too fill in a time gap

This is the second time I've stayed here and I definitely will again... Nothing really bothered me but the shower was flooded when I went to have one and I know it's not nomads fault but It would be great for there to be a bench so I could put my dry clothes and toiletries I also wish there was a small mirror in the room that I stayed in (it was a double bed room) just so I don't have to hog the bathroom to do my make up

I got a free upgrade as I visited in July and got to have only one otter girl in my room and an en-suite bathroom! The guy at the reception was also super nice and helpful and gave me tips for other services the hostel is providing as scuba diving trips from Cairns to the barrier reef. Awesome location also and amazing value for money for such an expensive but cool city

I liked everything

My room had everything I needed. (I didn’t watch television at all!) The area is well served by public transport. I did use that, but I also ambled down to the harbour to watch the sunrise on both days.

Working out how to enter the room code. I got things wrong on several occasions, but I think I’ll remember what to do next time.
