It is a beautiful , well lit, modernised Edwardian building which still maintains many of its original features and resonates a positive and peaceful vibe. My room was spacious, ventilated, clean and well looked after. The breakfast was continental, with good options to choose from. The staff members I encountered were welcoming, friendly, professional and really did contribute to my stay being that much more enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel itself is in an ideal location, it has a spectacular view, overlooking a quiet part of the beach, which is only two minutes from it's entrance. It also is conveniently located that within 5 - 10 minutes walking time, I could be in the more busier and touristy part of the seafront. If you are looking for a place to stay in Eastbourne, I would highly recommend you consider this place.

This is a small privately owned hotel that's been converted from an old victorian/edwardian or similar age heritage house. It's best described as quirky; some things are good, and others not so good unless perhaps you bear in mind the price. All staff I met were pleasant and helpful. I especially enjoyed the DIY breakfast, but there is help at hand if needed with the breakfast. Quirky - some things were good, the breakfast and staff, comfort of the room, free wifi, tea and coffee making facilities and location; some things a bit off: one lamp wasn't working, the door to the room didn't feel too secure, some cleaning had been missed or hurried, breakfast room was not open at scheduled time with no sign of any staff. However this was my second stay as a solo traveller and I would stay again.

The less positive aspects of the quirkiness. The worrisome room door. The toilet seat underside wasn't clean. The free water bottles weren't afaict sealed so I didn't use them.

It’s a great little hotel! You get good value for money and the rooms are spacious and super comfy, we were right at top and had a wonderful sea view. I really enjoyed my stay and will book again for next year. Thank you Halcyon.

The shower took a while to drain away, first time I used it I was convinced I was going to flood the bathroom, but I didn’t and it did drain, just a little slower than normal. The breakfast room was a little confusing on first visit but I believe the girl who was in there to help may have been new to the job so I won’t hold that against them. Brekkie is a simple help yourself cold meats, cereal, breads, and tea, coffee or fruit juice. Enough to get you started and head out to explore.

Communual kitchen lovely idea, loads of food choices, fresh fruit and yoghurt etc, perfect location, quiet end of the sea front. Stunning view from room!

PLEASE put a hook in the bathroom to hang towel or handbag etc, and perhaps small jug to fill up the kettle with as it wont fit under the tap.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Halcyon Private Hotel, and it was such a wonderful experience that I extended my stay until Friday, and I might stay even longer. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the kind and helpful gentleman at reception, setting a positive tone for my entire stay. My room is spacious, impeccably clean, and boasts a stunning sea view from the bath. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is calm and peaceful, which I absolutely adore. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and the room is tastefully decorated with pleasant toiletries provided. One of the highlights of my stay is the breakfast included in the price. The lovely lady who organizes breakfast is cheerful and makes every morning delightful. Enjoying breakfast at a table overlooking palm trees, the sea, and the sun is a serene experience that I look forward to each day. Despite the room being busy, it remains fairly silent, allowing for a peaceful start to the day. The Halcyon Private Hotel is truly a gem, situated just one street away from the Grand Hotel and close to the beach. I’ve decided this will be my go-to place with a view until I complete my property purchase. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a tranquil and delightful stay.

Excellent stay! We came with friends for a girls chill out without kids and just loved it! Great location, very nice hosts (gentlemen at reception and lady at breakfast). We felt very welcomed and received lots of recommendations for restaurants! Room, linen and towels spotless. Room with sea view on top of the building was great and we had wonderful time in general 😍 thank you!

We were waiting quite some time for someone to show up in reception area to check in. The host showed up and apologized- it was fantastic service! Nothing else otherwise.

The best view I've ever experienced from a hotel room, it was breath-taking, the ocean and the cliffs all in a panoramic view from the bay windows. Facilities in the kitchen were perfect, a nice communal space full of many teas and coffees, fruits and snacks, and it was a great continental selection at breakfast which inc vegan options. There was a turn down service every day, something I don't require myself but is a lovely touch. I feel a little door sign politely declining would be appreciated as would save resources :) The room was exactly as described only better. I was kindly upgraded to another room and it was perfect, luxurious big bed you just sank into, mini fridge, large television and great shower. It was above and beyond my expectations and the team do a fantastic job at maintaining everything.

Everything was really nice. We didn’t know that this hotel provides breakfast, but it was there. They offered us with fruits, juices, different mills, fresh croissants and others. They also provide us rooms with breathtaking views. We had one room with sea view and other three with city view. The rooms were enough big, everything was clear! I don’t remember the name of the owner of hotel, but I wanna thank him! He was so kind! Thank you! This hotel is near station, about 10 min walking. It is a big advantage of this place! A lot of restaurants around. And the main place Beachy Head is so near (5-7 min by car, 40-50 min walking). Thank you so much!!!!

The hotel was undergoing renovations but even so they provided us with quiet and clean rooms without any inconvenience.

The hotel was perfectly located with a beautiful view on the sea. As it was rather at the end of the road along the beach one could find free parking very close. The rooms were brand new, the more expensive one was very spacious and perfectly equipped. The owner and his staff are nice and welcoming.

The one thing that should be improved is the breakfast. It's nice to sit with the other guests in the kitchen and it's ok to help yourself to milk/yoghurt in the fridge. But a coffee machine should be added and there should be "real" plates/cutlery and not throw away dishes (even if ecologial). Also the quality/choice of the jams/youghurts could be better.

Friendly helpful staff, lovely sea views, location and very comfortable beds. Rooms kept very clean and overall excellent value for money.

Consider having a more buffet style breakfast with everything out on view so that it’s easier to make a choice with what is available. Ensure that the reception has someone there all the time or the front door kept closed (with intercom access) so that it’s more secure for guests.
