We loved our stay here at the Hill B&B. We booked the annex suite which was absolutely amazing, and fully self contained with everything you need, including its own garden and patio furniture. We found it very comfortable with lovely decor throughout. There are plenty of family games in the cupboards and lots of books to read, everything from information on the surrounding area, to cook books! The hosts were super friendly and were on hand incase we needed anything during our stay. We had our breakfast in the main house which was a full English, all cooked fresh to order with toast and fresh coffee and it was absolutely delicious! Fresh juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt was put out to help ourselves. We will definitely re-book at some point, very highly reccomended. 10 out of 10

One of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen, hosts were super lovely, and helpful when my partner lost his wallet (it was handed into the newsagents across the road) The bed was comfy and tea and coffee was provided. Breakfast was lovely and always fresh. House is close to two pubs/restaurants, a handful of cafes and a co-op. Also if you like reading the host has an array of books
Everything about the actual property is great just be warned if you want to go for a drink in Barnard castle area a cab is going to cost you almost £40. But again not the B&B’s fault

Hosts were absolutely brilliant. Breakfast cooked and served to perfection, with many choices. We were for few days and get caught in rain, so spent afternoon in, so many books, we watched TV. Hosts even heated up in microwave my favourite pudding. Nothing was too much to ask. Shower is really good with perfect power. Bed is comfortable. Window can be opened. Nicely decorated and clean, quiet and beautiful place to stay.
The fact that we left early :D and did not spoil ourselves by enjoying another breakfast. Ha Ha. However host offered even to make take away breakfast for us.

From the moment we arrived at The Hill knew we were in for a treat. This charming bed and breakfast exceeded all our expectations. The hospitality extended by Sue was unparalleled. She greeted us with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. Their attention to detail and personalized service made us feel right at home from the start. The accommodations were impeccable. Our room was elegantly decorated, offering a cozy ambiance that invited relaxation. The clean and cozy bedding ensured a restful night's sleep, and waking up to the tranquil surroundings was a rejuvenating experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious breakfast served each morning. Prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, each dish was a culinary delight. The communal dining area fostered a sense of camaraderie among guests, making for lively conversations and shared experiences. Overall, our stay at The Hill was nothing short of magical. The combination of exceptional hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and idyllic surroundings made for an unforgettable experience. We cannot wait to return and create more cherished memories at this hidden gem of a retreat. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway amidst natural beauty and warm hospitality.

We fell extremely lucky to find this place. It was actually our second visit this year as we had wet weather in July the first time but despite the weather we enjoyed it so much we decided to stay again in September.. The annexe was a beautiful place to stay, it was spacious, light, comfortable and relaxing. It had a lovely garden overlooking the hills and it was so quiet and peaceful. The annexe was close by to the local co-op, cafes and small shops, pubs and a fish and chip shop all within 200 metres.. The owners Sue and Alan were very friendly. We were surprised by cookies, crisps and wine on arrival. They went the extra mile with providing us a tasty cooked breakfast every morning and a milk alternative for my partner who is lactose intolerant, nothing was too much trouble and they were fantastic hosts. We also managed to do some stargazing from the garden and we could see the Milky Way! There was plenty to do in the area all easily accessible by car including the lovely cafe at Bowlees which is a 10 minute drive away. From here there are lots of walks including the waterfalls, Low Force and High Force or walks around the hills, the area is stunning. Also nearby is Cow Green reservoir which was also serene.
We had to leave to come home.

Fabulous location and beautiful annex in the midst of the town with easy access to cafes, shops, pubs. The annex was perfect self contained accommodation - fabulous bedroom and en-suite with an amazing bright lounge leading out through patio doors to the garden. Very clean and modern and the facilities were fantastic. It couldn’t have been more perfect. Sue was a fabulous host :)

The Hill B&B was scrupulously clean, comfortable bed and nice linen. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, good quality teas etc. Our host, Sue, was friendly and helpful. Lovely place to stay and you can park right outside. We would certainly stay again.
Our SatNav took us all over, so it’s best to put complete address in, not just postcode..as we did.

Lovely apartment with everything you need. Spacious and great view from patio doors. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Fabulous breakfast. Really good quality and lots of options. Location is great for visiting Barnard Castle and the Waterfalls nearby. The little village is ideal with pubs in walking distance. Really enjoyed our cosy stay and would recommend to anyone.

I am writing this in English so that the owners can understand my comments. Sue and Alan were very welcoming and friendly . The full English breakfast was excellent and there was also a fresh fruit and cereals ,juice etc.The room was extremely clean and newly decorated and the small bathroom was modern and of a very high standard in cleanliness. There is also accomodation available in the Annexe which has both a kitchen and sitting room. The atmosphere at breakfast was intimate because other guests shared the table and lively and interesting conversations took place. The area in County Durham has many things to offer including wonderful walks in the beautiful landscape or visiting historical buildings and the cathedral in Durham etc. We will defintely return to this excellent B&B.
Nothing.
