Lovely and clean and the bedding was excellent with a choice of hard and soft pillows. Plenty of hot water and the TV selection was good. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was good with a nice choice and freshly cooked. The meals in the pub are excellent. Tea and coffee and biscuits were in the room. I indulged in a hot chocolate. We did not have a car as we had family shuttling us about. Location is nice but I think you need a car really to get about. A great place as a base for sightseeing in beautiful Durham.

Only a tiny cooler. On checkout day morning the Inn was closed. When we checked out we had to wait in the car park until we were collected. This may have been a one day thing and the morning staff were apologetic and offered us a lift to Crook. It was just something we were unaware of.

The evening meals in the restaurant were amazing and they catered for a party of 9 of us. It was good value and quality.I have to mention the Christmas decoration outside, the staff must have worked very hard to achieve the magnificent winter wonderland. Staff were efficient and friendly.

The awful storm that came. Because the Hotel rooms were situated in a block seperate to the main building, it meant we had to fight the elements of storm deseree which blew us all over and drenched on entering the restaurant in the main building. ( Obviously though it was beyond the control of the hotel )

Very warm welcome and taken to our room, rather than just being sent in the direction. Room facilities/controls explained to us and told that feather pillows were there if we preferred them, the bed was very comfortable (great for those who prefer a firmer mattress). The room had a very well stocked hospitality tray, lots of choice and enough of each to allow more than one beverage per person. Very nice toiletries supplied in the bathroom. Ample parking, close to the rooms and Good WiFi coverage. Great food available in the restaurant throughout the day, although best to book for the evening if wanting to dine before 7pm

Only criticism is that, as others had already checked out and we were staying,it was expected to be able to clean/service the room at the same time as the vacated ones. This didn't work for us, as we were still using the room, and as a result it wasn't serviced/cleaned that day. Whilst it isn't a deal breaker, it did cause inconvenience to us

The staff were super friendly, welcoming and efficient. We booked for dinner and the food was delicious. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed plus the bed was very very comfortable! Location was perfect for our trip, ideally located. Breakfast was also delicious with everything you could ask for and again, super friendly staff. The whole experience was great and we’ll definitely return.

Nothing really as everything suited our needs.

The breakfasts were gorgeous! It's a really lovely place, great for Hamsterley mountain biking. Personal downsides...very small rooms and sound proofing between rooms not brilliant. Woken by the room next door's shower. We were in Room 7, and the mirror in the bathroom (there's a lyric in there!) was very high. I'm 1.6m and I could only see the top of my head. Full length mirror in the bedroom, with handy socket for the hair-dryer. USB slots on one side of the bed too. Lovely tea / coffee making facility, with biscuits too! The shower is small so if, like me, you like to lean forward to wash your hair your rear end will connect with the cubicle. Also you can't adjust the shower so you don't get your hair wet. No shaving / magnifying mirror, all important for popping in contact lenses and applying make up for an evening in the bar. Overall this is a lovely place to stay and I would stay again.

Room and shower cubicle rather small. Can't adjust the shower low enough to not get hair wet...I.e can't lower to shoulder height. These are niggles not show-stoppers.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and very tasty food! My dog Hugo loved it and his doggie treats too! I highly recommend the Steak Pie and Cheesecake. Stayed here overnight on my way home from a New Year visit to Scotland. Would highly recommend to everyone and very pet friendly. Rooms are lovely with super comfy beds! Thanks and we will be back!

I couldnt get a parking space when i arrived but managed to park on the street. Would be good for guests at the hotel to be able to reserve a space especially if you have heavy bags to carry in!

A lovely little hotel, off the beaten track but perfect for exploring the area. It seems to have about 12 motel style units. Not spacious but sufficient. The rooms are modern, clean and light and very well kitted out. A small but clean, modern, ensuite shower room with plenty of towels, soaps, etc. The room has tea and coffee ( and hot chocolate) making facilities and biscuits! I've found a hair dryer, a USB powered fan! A small fridge, a curved (!) Screen TV and a very comfy bed! The food offering so far has been superb. In the restaurant last night I had a rather nice starter of fried brie, a main of roast lamb ( lovely meat, really well cooked veg and all piping hot! ) and a very generous ginger sponge with custard to finish. A very enjoyable meal at a very sensible cost. This morning's included breakfast was equally good, a selection of juices, fruit, cereal etc and a good choice of cooked food. I had the full English and it was excellent! I'm loving this place so much I'm staying an extra night! A quick update... on the second evening I started with the creamy garlic mushrooms, a smallish portion but really tasty. For my main I had the 10oz Sirloin steak ! It was superb ! No room for a pud tonight ! The second morning's breakfast was again really nicely cooked and well presented.

Nothing to not like!

As we arrived we were provided with a blanket, bowl & treats for our dog and she was able to accompany us in the restaurant for breakfasts & evening meals. Our room was spotless and well appointed. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet spot which is very convenient for visiting the beautiful local area.

It would have been absolutely perfect if the room had been bigger.
