Amazing location right on the ocean. Staff were so friendly & helpful. As it was my 60th birthday celebration they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Pacific View Suite, which was stunning. They also sent a birthday cake and chilled bubbly to the suite as a birthday treat. The meals were all delicious and the level of service exceptional. This hotel thinks of every detail to make the guests feel welcome & appreciated.

Beach Front with a rustic atmosphere-escape the day-to-day hustle & bustle. Staff very attentive & helpful. Valet parking was great! Room was perfect with ocean view; easy walk to shops & restaurants. Check-in was a breeze...Oh yaeh, the margaritas were the best!!!

Room service menu selections. Having to use my phone to see any kind of menu was a pain (especially with the pop-ups)., but even then the selections were very limited. Thermostat did not work until the morning we checked out.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the location couldn't be better -- you truly are right at the beach! I had an ocean view room with a balcony and each morning I woke up to the awe-inspiring view of the Pacific Ocean. Cracking open the sliding doors even an inch and I was greeted with the mesmerizing sound of the waves. And as fabulous as the setting is, the staff is equally magnificent! Each person I interacted with went above and beyond to make sure my stay was the best it could be, and it was that and so much more. They made me feel like a VIP! And if I hadn't experienced all of the above, I would go back just for their ice cream sundae and their pineapple coconut smoothie!

Only one suggestion, upon being taken to our room, the bellman should have done a better job explaining the use of the safe, the working of the TV and certainly should have fetched us ice. I had inquired as to where the ice machine was and he replied that there were no ice machines on the property, but that it we wanted we could have gone to the bar or the pool to get some. For travelers who had just spent 6 hours in flight to get there he should have picked up on that and just made the effort to get us some ice...that was my only complaint of the service...anticipate the needs fully.

Location, On-site restaurant, luxe & comfy room, though our stay coincided with 1st day of Hotel-Worker strike at hotel up the block for 3 hours starting at 6 am, so loudly that it sounded like they were outside beneath our balcony. The property isn’t even a union property so that was unexpected. Also enjoyed dinner at the on-site restaurant & lunch the following day outside on the patio with 2 different ambiances-both were thoroughly enjoyable, the service was attentive and nice and we really enjoyed the food.

The friendly service from all staff from the moment we arrived. The tidy and clean rooms with exceptional amenities of modern holiday accommodation. We enjoyed it much more being our choice of accommodation for our honeymoon. It didn't disappoint. We will be back with Shutters being our #1 pick of accommodation in LA/Santa Monica.

Charming hotel. The staff are very accommodating and very friendly. The turn down service was great. Piano bar with fireplaces in the lobby gave a romantic and cozy vibe. We loved the beautiful pool area.

Noise level from the street and adjoining rooms.

The hotel is very comfortable and the staff friendly.I love the positon on the beach, the casual friendly staff , the recomendations for dinner and the car that takes you were you want to go!

Some areas need refurbishment; stairwells especially.

Great location, right on the beach and by Santa Monica pier. Hotel beautiful, just like the photos. Rooms gorgeous and amazing jacuzzi baths. Food and bar very good. Pool and sun bathing area good but gets busy with lots of children (not complaining and as expected but our children are much older now so we are not as used to lots of small children anymore). No beach seating as a state beach but that’s the same almost wherever you go in California.
