Sweet little gem of a spot. Set away from the road in a quiet location, right by the butterfly grove.

We were in room 16, which we at first thought was great because it was an end unit and had a patch of grass right there for our dog. However, when the guests arrived to room 15, we could hear almost everything. Our heads were almost touching when we slept; just a thin wall between us. For two nights in a row, we were awakened by one of them having a 3am coughing fit, and they probably didn’t do much better with my husband’s thunderous snores. I loved everything else about the place, but that to me (a light sleeper) is a deal-breaker.

I live locally but had to vacate my apartment with my pup for a week. My experience at the Butterfly Grove in couldn’t be any better! I stayed at 2 other close hotels/motels for a few nights prior, they were fine but neither compared. The staff were all so kind and accommodating, and were happy to extend my stay when I needed to. They made a very stressful time a lot better for me. My room was great, very clean with high ceilings and an electric fireplace. The location was the best part, it’s amazing to wake up right in the middle of the monarch grove. I couldn’t bring my dog in the grove, but all around the property and right outside my room, there were tons of monarchs. It is really beautiful and peaceful. I would 100% recommend above anywhere else to anyone visiting.

The place was very clean, the girl at the reception was very friendly, she told us that every morning they had coffee for the guests, the room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable, they have a small pool and a small spa there we relaxed and enjoyed the garden and a 7-year-old boy and I, just in front of our room was de parking… just behind the rooms is the monarch butterfly sanctuary a few steps away, but it's a shame we didn't find any, apparently it's not the time…. about 4 or 5 minutes from there are the different points where you can appreciate the ocean and its beauties, where you can take beautiful photos, you can also walk and enjoy the sea breeze, look at squirrels and with luck you can see dolphins or seals... it is the first time we were here We liked it a lot... a lot of peace and tranquility

The hotel is older but well maintained. The decor is dated but everything was super clean and comfortable and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable and WiFi worked well. The rooms were also very spacious so if you have more than one person you won't feel on top of each other. Also, the area was beautiful and there were walking paths to take in the morning or evening. All in all I was very happy with my stay and would look to book again.

The office was only open for certain hours. They also don't offer breakfast. None of these were a deal breaker for us.

We really liked the high ceiling, fireplace-even though we didn’t need it, and roominess. Also, we were very pleased with our 2 small dogs being allowed and the grounds where we could walk them. We liked the location. It was so peaceful.

I recommend a larger coffee pot( we brought our own & we’re glad) Personally, we would prefer comfortable seating, sofa, recliners or something instead of a second bed. It’s such a relaxing place, which we like, but sitting on beds or table chairs when resting in the room, is not so good for us older folk.

My only dislike is that we stated 3 nights (4 days) and not provided housekeeping. At check in, I was asked if we needed housekeeping. I said yes, for clean towels and extra coffee. I was told that we had to go into the office for those things. My husband and I are both partially disabled and we're staying for our Anniversary. It would have been nice to have our room freshened once, since we were there more than 2 days.

The manager was so friendly and helpful! He let us take a look at both available family suites (in the house, rooms 25 & 27) to decide which one was the one we preferred. He escorted my 85 yo mother (who joined us separately) to the room personally, and answered questions promptly and expertly. He readily gave us an extension of our check-out time when I asked (my mother was moving slowly the last morning after lots of walking the day before.) This was so appreciated! We stayed there specifically to catch the tail end of the Monarch Butterfly season, and it did not disappoint! Our room (#25) looked out directly into the sanctuary. The monarchs flitted about the motel property, including right past our large bedroom windows, and into the lovely pool area while we were lounging in the hot tub. (Staff made sure stacks of fresh pool towels were available every time we entered the tub.) The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were high-quality. (My well-traveled mother especially would like everyone to know how comfortable the bed was!) The location was very convenient for us, as we had a car. It would probably be very less convenient without one, especially to obtain breakfast.

The coffee bags for making coffee in the room make terrible "coffee" (coffee-flavored tea is how we describe it). The coffee available in the lobby is slightly better, but still. Better coffee would be really appreciated.

Lovely spacious room with all of the amenities we needed and then some. Comfortable bed. Spacious bath vanity separate from shower/toilet. Parking right next to the room for easy unloading/loading. Great location.

No air conditioning. It was quite warm while we were there. And though there is a ceiling fan to move air, it did get quite warm in the room overnight for those who prefer a cooler room and aren't comfortable sleeping in a ground floor room with the windows open. Otherwise, very comfortable.

Loved the location, although it was unexpected I had 2 beds when I thought I was getting one. Didn't know there'd be a fireplace, which was a bonus. Loved the high ceilings & nice bathtub. Also super convenient that you could park right in front of your room. Didn't know it was right by the monarch sanctuary, although I didn't have time to visit. Good to know for the future! Would definitely stay here again.

Walls seemed a little thin because I could hear my neighbors talking VERY loudly. I had to wear earplugs the first night & was happy they checked out the next day. Also, I might not have picked this place if I'd known they allowed dogs. Next time I'll ask to not be put in a room next to a barking dog & for neighbors to be more considerate of others.
