The setting is beautiful.
The first room we went to was very, very dark. We soon got a move to a slightly nicer room. Still dark, but that is the ambience of the building. Check-in and check-out times could do with being a bit more flexible. It did feel very rushed having to be out by 10.30 am. We were a little late leaving and got a call to the room asking when we planned to leave. We were just walking out the door. Earlier, we had asked for more tea and coffee making facilities in the room. This took ages to arrive, which hadn't helped. All round a pleasant stay and would definitely go back. Breakfast was lovely, too.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The hotel is bursting with character and charm, creating a truly unique and memorable experience. Our room was beautifully decorated, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a perfect night’s sleep. All the facilities were in excellent working order, making our stay smooth and stress-free. The staff were outstanding from start to finish—warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our visit special. Breakfast was a highlight, with a fantastic selection and everything cooked to perfection. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will definitely be returning. Thank you for a truly exceptional stay!

1. Super building, great staff, good location. 2. Lovely piano - thank you for letting me play it. 3. Great grounds. 4. Good bar menu, served well. 5. Felt very welcomed, and to feel "at home".
1. Room rather dark - nice to be in keeping with the general ambience of the hotel, but as a red brick building there is no reason why more light coulnt be provided for morning makeup and shaving. 2. Pillows old and very lumpy. below standard for this type of hotel 3. Room temperature cold. Provided oil heater only just sufficient. 4. TV chanels - access to eg iplayer, or ability to screen mirror is needed these days. 5. One day was very busy, so that bar and restaurant facilities were insufficent - more seating needed.

This hotel is so pretty and well decorated. The hotel itself is like a mini museum. Everywhere you look, there is something interesting to see. We went during Christmas time so it was even more decorated. Room were great size and everthing was clean and comfortable. Reception lady with the blond hair was really kind and sweet. Garden around the castle is also very nice for a walk. I did not try the restaurant so i cant comment, but i did order room service: baked camembert and periperi hashbrown tots, both were phenomenal, thumbs up to the chef!

Staff were brilliant, customer service was excellent, without looking like it was rehearsed !!! To the point that when we took a wrong turn in the car park, and weren't sure where to go to drop off our bags, a young man called Luke, explained how to get back to the reception area, and even waited for us to make sure that our arrival went smoothly. And I must add he was on his break at the time.
Breakfast seemed a little disorganised, no sauces available, and the toaster only worked one-sided. Also the orange juice dispenser was so unstable that when my husband wnt to pour a drink the whole thing collapsed on him. When a member of staff came out to help clean up the mess, she said that it was not the first time that time it had happened that week, so I question why it was allowed to happen a second time

The hotel is absolutely stunning. We stayed in one of the feature rooms and it didn't disappoint. The building has a rich history. It was originally a 12th century abbey. Obviously, the building is modernised, but it has kept the gothic, medieval aesthetic throughout. The gardens at the back are also beautiful.
Some of the information we were given on checking in was not correct, but other than this, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit out of the way if you are not driving, I had to get ubers everywhere, but they didn't take long to come and seemed to be plenty of uber drivers about. The cream tea seemed to be very overpriced, but I expect that in this kind of hotel. You can book to go in a little boat that takes you around the moat, but unfortunately, we weren't able to book a time that was convenient. I would still definitely visit again.

It’s nice and quiet hotel far away from big cities. Quite often there are some weddings which can be noisy, but we were lucky. We’ve been in room 168 with a nice yard view. And it had the most comfortable bed 😅 Breakfast was okay. Dinner, which you’ll need to book in advance, was amazing. I was worried about that some rooms can be really old, but we have been settled in new building, so I was happy with it.
We didn’t figure out how to switch on only 2 lamps next to the bed not all possible lights in the room so we either didn’t use it at all or enjoyed cozy lighting from the yard. Also even though there was a fan in the room, it was a little bit hotter, that expected and windows can be open for a tiny bit because of health and safety reasons, I assume

Fantastic room with very comfortable 4 poster bed and courtyard view. Excellent dinner very accommodating for vegetarians. Special touches like an anniversary card and chocolate decorated plate. Placed in a romantic spot for evening meal. The best bit of the whole stay was booking the date night punt with Anthony at Abbey Punts. This really made our stay and he was so passionate about the history and making it all special for you. Excellent singer and pianist. Plus the place that he has created is just so amazing.
Breakfast service not up to standard that we saw everywhere else in the hotel. Thought paying to park at hotel was a bit steep.

A beautiful stately home. Friendly front of house staff, wonderful environment, and exciting period rooms.
Charging for parking is a bit unusual in these circumstances and from the feedback here guests clearly don't like it. Why not just build the cost into the room? Dinner was to a high standard but nothing special, however the buffet breakfast works really well. Some of the waiting staff in the evening with painfully inexperienced, but nice young people.

This is a real magical place , if your a fan of bridgerton you need to visit ...with stunning grounds and afternoon tea ,scones served freshly baked ,little sweet delights and you could even eat the chocolate plant pot that held the strawberry mouse it will fill you with excitement. It also holds well should I say a few spirits that like to make themselves known I expiierenced tv turning on in the night and sounds of chattering when staff made me aware the hotel was quietened down for the night after discussion next morning. Staff and hotel management where extremely accommodating and pleasant too And I will certainly visit again in future
