The location is wonderful. Very close to Holyrood Palace. We liked how quiet it was and the spacious apartment. Modern amenities in a historic place.
We arrived after hours and let the property know ahead of time. We arrived after 11:00 pm and our code didn’t work to get into the apartment. We couldn’t get in contact with anyone and were wondering if we would spend the night in the hallway. My husband randomly added a zero to the code and we were able to get in. Someone must have misprogramed the keypad. We were not contacted by the property until the next morning. I was told the manager would be in contact with us but they never happened. There should be an emergency number to call that is reliable for such problems. Also, the washer and driver are a nice service, but we couldn’t get the dryer to work.

This apartment is a hidden gem in Edinburgh. Initially, we thought the price was a bit high, and were worried about the lack of staff on-site. However, we were delighted with the location, the property, and the communication. This apartment is located at the end of the Royal Mile, right next to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Every day, we could see the guards passing by, and on the last day, we were lucky enough to witness a royal family member entering the palace! The accommodation was clean, cozy, and convenient. It was our first visit to Edinburgh, and we were delighted to have such a comfortable place to rest after a long day of exploring. We would love to stay at this apartment or another Cheval property (like in Old Town) if we visit again. Highly recommended!

For us (2 girls in their twenties), the location was perfect. It was around a 15/20 minute walk into the city centre of Edinburgh and a 5 minute walk to the Royal Mile. If you were not wanting to walk or take a taxi to be in the centre, it wouldn’t be ideal for you. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the staff we spoke to were so so friendly!
Weird one, but the mugs and crockery are strangely small, so if you’re planning to use the kitchen to cook a meal - maybe don’t. The bowls are big enough for cereal, but you can’t be eating a meal out of them. Also, there are no instructions for anything anywhere, so if you’re not used to convention ovens or how to work the heating, get ready to google!

Everything is just so well thought out. The temperature of the room, the fact the lights are on when you open the door, the attention to detail in everything provided in the kitchen - the milk in particular was great for a cup of tea in the morning! Also, the bed is extremely comfortable which is very important.
That I was only staying one night! Perhaps also bed pillows that aren't so high could be provided for those who prefer that but this is a VERY minor quibble that I am only writing here cos Booking.com insists I write something. Not worth worrying about.

It was spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable, stylish and very well laid out. Everything we needed was available and the welcome pack was very comforting. The staff were quick to respond by phone and very, very helpful. Peter was especially kind and went out of his way to make our holiday go smoothly. The location was excellent for people who like to leave the busy tourist centre behind at night, but still offered easy access on foot or by taxi up the Royal Mile. The Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Palace and Dynamic Earth are next door neighbours and for late arrives, the Holyrood Marriott Hotel is a short stroll for a bite to eat or a drink before bed.
The unexpected winding stairs while charming and atmospheric were bit of a drag with heavy suitcases. But we managed well enough!

Beautiful renovation of an old building. Very comfortable. Everything was finished to a high standard. We loved the location opposite the parliament and near Arthur’s seat but easy walking to the old and new towns.
The heating in the bedroom off the lounge didn’t seem to respond to the control so was a little cold. There was no sound from other apartments but there is some traffic noise from the road. It didn’t bother us.

Beautiful property at a uniquie location at the end of the royal mile immediately adjacent to holyrood palace (a royal residence) and parliament. Has a lovely garden and can hear and see processions, as they happen at the palace. Also gorgeous view of Arthur's seat area (hills and park). Very clean, easy access, daily room service when needed.
No major complaints - Spaces are a little tight but that is what is expected from older buildings.

The location was perfect. Close enough to the tourist attractions yet it was quiet at night. We had housekeeping daily. After a day out we came back to a well appointed flat. If we needed anything the management team responded very quickly. Within a few minutes. It was very comfortable and we felt we had value for our money.

First off, the building is beautiful and the work that has been done is exceptional. Your made to feel very lucky to be able to stay in such a historical building. Peter was very hospitable on arrival and throughout our stay.
The building is the perfect mix of Old and New. Rooms are very modern and comfortable and kept pristine throughout the stay by the people who manage the apartments. We particular liked the coffee machine and the bed was massive and so comfortable. The location of the apartments is perfect, at the very bottom of the royal mile. means you’ve always got a downhill walk back home in the evening. Even thought there is traffic during the day you can barely hear it. Thanks again and we look forward to staying the same time next year.

This is my second time staying with Cheval. I had high ecxpectations because the quality of my earlier stay was great. This stay did not disappoint. Everything was perfect with the room- it was well-equipped, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Everything worked and was of good quality. Peter, who met me to check in, was extremely helpful and amenable, but not intrusive. This particular building has a fascinating history and is in a wonderfully peaceful location, right next to Holyrood park and the Queen’s gallery. The room was fastidiously clean. The bed was also extremely comfy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and hope to come back soon!
