The pub, food, staff & village were all great. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the pub every evening and enjoyed every meal. The breakfast was really good too.
These days check in is usually after 3pm. I didn’t realise until a couple of days before the pub wanted it to be between 1-3. We were both working all morning so couldn’t get there for that time. Luckily the owner was around to let us in. The room was very tired which was a shame as it’s always to go away to somewhere with home from home luxuries or to be even better. Our room only had 2 sky lights and they felt like they were falling apart. Hopefully the rooms will be updated in time. The village is very pretty but there is nothing else there. When I booked I expected to be on the high street in Dorchester! The pub & village is 8 miles from Dorchester! Thankfully the pub food & staff were so good to be there so often 😀

Situated conveniently off the A37 in a peaceful village just north of Dorchester, The Greyhound Inn boasts a prime location. The welcoming atmosphere upon arrival and the exceptional quality of food served make for a delightful experience, although the dessert menu may not be suitable for those with nut allergies, but there were options. The bedrooms, located opposite the pub, offer a convenient stay; however, the room I booked was Maggie which had the boiler extractor outside the window, as it intermittently operates throughout the night, leading to a less than restful sleep. To ensure a more pleasant stay in the future, it is advisable to request a room away from the boiler extractor noise. By doing so, one can potentially enjoy an exceptional experience at The Greyhound Inn without any disturbances.

Quietly located in a small village away from main roads. Beautiful old country pub that has been bought into the 21 century. The bedrooms which are clean and pleasant have been formed from an old house across the courtyard from the pub. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Owner was friendly and helpful.
Dinner menu was interesting but would be limited if stayed more than a few days. Had to ask for cereals, juice, and toast. Would have preferred if could serve one self. We stayed at a quiet time of year so this may have been a reason.

Lovely location in pretty Dorset village about 8 miles north of Dorchester. I used as a base for visiting the tank museum at Bovington - about a 35 min journey away. The accommation is across the car park from the pub which is fine and the double en-suite room was well appointed and comfy. Staff and food at the pub were excellent and it felt really friendly for someone travelling alone. Hope to return with a friend to show her the area.
Only minor point is they need to deal with the mould showing around the bottom of the shower cubicle, easy fix with some mould spray remover!

Overall, very good place to stay. We were visiting friends nearby, so a good choice for our locational needs. We got there just before 6pm, so hasd the chance to enjoy an evening meal, as well as breakfast the next morning. Food was great, as was the overall atmosphere. Staff were superb and they ensured we had a good stay.
Only downside was one of the rooms on the ground floor had the main boiler flue next to the window, resulting in my travelling companion not having much sleep at all. I had an upstairs room, no issues for me.

Eventually found the Greyhound Inn as directions from Booking said Dorchester but it is not in Dorchester (and often no internet on travelled route lots of tiny country lanes) Very pretty village quite and pleasant - comfortable bed and clean one huge plus dogs were able to be in the bar and at breakfast area. Breakfast was very good. ( this was particular welcome as arrived to late for any food in the evening stopped serving anything promptly at 8.00pm)
No food served after 8.00pm and the village has no shops etc. Can find a car parked right up to your bedroom window if on the ground floor. Booking.com should put the name of village on booking form as it is just said Dorchester confusing and spent ages trying to find it.

Chris and all the staff were amazing and couldn't be more helpful, friendly and accommodating! The food was delicious and served in a lovely setting. A well stocked bar and super outdoor seating area was much appreciated after long walks in the stunning Dorset countryside! Our room was of a good size and well appointed, although a little maintenance and updating would be good moving forward. A beautiful location, in a quiet village setting, within easy distance for many wonderful walks and the coast. We will definitely be back!

Everything was fantastic. Food was wonderful as was the staff. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of it (gorgeous scrambled eggs!) The couple who own it were really friendly, as were their cats! They couldnt do enough for me. I would stay there again and would highly recommend to others. Beautiful Dorset location, you are very lucky!
If I saw any issues, the bed was rather uncomfortable, but then I always have trouble sleeping away from home.

Lovely pub in an idyllic village. Food offering by the pub was of a fantastic standard and very tasty. All staff members attentive, accommodating and very welcoming. The landlord, who also ran the kitchen spent the latter part of the evening talking to different customers and making them feel welcome. Brilliant!
The rooms being offered were of a good standard; however, to go the extra step the bathroom initially only had a bath - all rooms should have a shower too. On my request, I was moved to a different room with a shower with no fuss at all from the staff. However, the bathroom in this room needed some decorative re-freshening.

This is a fine country pub set in the heart of Dorset countryside. The village is pretty idyllic. The accommodation is set apart from the pub. The staff are very welcoming and attentive.
The noise from the boiler firing up all night was really intrusive against the low level of background noise. There was also a constant noise coming from some other equipment which went on all night.........water heating/AC?
