A wonderful historic building in the centre of Southwell. Beautiful panelled dining room. Excellent breakfast. Very good car park. When we arrived an oil filed radiator was on in the room, making it pleasantly warm. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
I had investigated how to arrive at the hotel car park using google maps since the route in is just after a one way street. So I knew what I was looking for. Yet the signage was almost non-existent and I found myself in the wrong car park. Added to this is the appalling road/track with the biggest pothole I have experienced. DRIVE CAREFULLY- you could lose a wheel especially in the dark!

Very relaxed and friendly for our dogs with a nice walk beside the primary school which we would have explored further if the weather had been more clement. The breakfast was excellent and we loved the clocks.
It is wonderful that the hotel has electric car chargers on site - a real bonus - but the information on the charging point is out of date and without help from the hotel staff I would never have managed to charge my car. The App identity needs a label over it to give the correct App name. Directions to the car park could be better both on the sign board and on the website.

We stayed for 4 nights. Everything exceeded our expectations. The Bedrooms have wonderful comfy beds, even the biscuits on the tea tray are special. The breakfast is delicious, the fresh fruit includes individual bowls of fresh Blueberries, raspberries, melon, pineapple. The full English breakfast is cooked to order and is the best we have had. The staff are friendly and helpful. The car park is free and the hotel is in a wonderful position. It is a lovely place to stay and all the extras makes it good value indeed.
We would have loved to stay longer than the 4 nights.

The hotel is in a truly historic building, full of charm and atmosphere. The location is magnificent, bang in the centre of Southwell and just a short stroll from the Minster (which is what brought me to town). The vegetarian breakfast I requested was cooked fresh to order and was delicious, and there was also plenty of fresh fruit on offer. There's a spacious car park at the back of the hotel, which also doubles as a public car park, but registering this on a tablet at the front desk took seconds. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. Also, I'd booked a single room but was assigned a double, which was much appreciated.
The room overlooked the main road through town, which got quite busy as day broke. Also, the pub over the road had music playing until just after closing time. The noise wasn't the hotel's fault, of course, but if you're a light sleeper you might want to ask if you can have a room at the back.

Decoration history the paintings and shio in glass cabin i saw lovely sunrise in morning room was red .its convenient, traffic can hear but it stops at night time bus stops not far away minster just straight down to right .there's a library its closed one day week .so if you have to wait to book in there are plenty of places to sit stay warm off street at moment pool isn't open.like old fashioned key for room .bath golden taps i wanted to read up more on history have break fast.
Prefer to put kettle on table. Wish Southwell has luggage storage spaces .

This is a very old historic property. Apparently King Charles the First was arrested here. The building certainly looks old, and is like an antique shop inside with lots of ticking clocks. It's right in the centre of Southwell, with Immense around the corner. It's got a very large car park behind. That's free. Breakfast was free, but very nice. The two staff I engaged with were both very friendly. And eager to help The room was quite large, modern and quite. Everything seemed to work and it had the facilities you'd expect. I booked a simple single room, and this was much more than I was expecting. It even had a roll top bath.
Really very little. Some might find the old interior a little eccentric. Floorboards did creak, and you could hear the plumbing.

Rooms were large and freshly decorated. Bedding was very comfortable. Large shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty . Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good location and large free carpark available.
Although it was a Saturday when we returned to the lhotel at 10pm the bar had already closed. We couldn't have a shower in the morning as the water was scalding hot and were unable to change the temperature. When the heating came on in the morning at 6am the plumbing was quite noisy.

Really enjoyed my stay at this quirky and atmospheric old coaching inn. The room was cosy and comfortable, the location was pefect - right in the heart of Southwell - and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - I appreciated the range of fresh fruit on offer but could have done with more vegan options for the cooked breakfast and a vegan spread would have been good.
Due to the historic nature of the building, the wi-fi didn't seem to reach my room and so that was a bit inconvenient.

We had a lovely historic room, with nice bed and bathroom (with a proper bath). Everything was comfortable and there was lots of character (including sloping floors!). My wife and I were there as part of a bigger group and we were looked after very nicely.
The pub across the road had loud music until fairly late. This was obviously not the hotel's fault, but it might suggest asking for a room at the back of the hotel (where apparently it was quite a bit quieter).

A gorgeous place to stay we had a four poster bed room (room 2) and the size of the room fantastic great to have a window in the bathroom lots of natural light and right in the heart of town the staff were friendly and very helpful it was great to be able to park at the place, thank you we had a lovely stay
The smaller details in a room need fine tuning the sealent round the bath messy, the bath tap dripping and staining the bath the toilet handle loose, no hand soap supplied, and the cups perfect size for your morning cup of tea, but black cups are harder to see tea stains/dirt on we had to wash ours, white cups would be better
