This is a special B&B - the couple running it also runs the camping area, a small cafe with a shop and most of all, a seal rescue station. The room was on the smaller side, as was the bathroom, but both was clean, and I controlled the heating (which is a good thing in Scotland). Also there was a very comfy "living room" for the use of both B&B rooms, where you could make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and relax. Breakfast was served in the small cafe/seal shop (I bought a few plushies, the money goes to the rescue). Everybody has mentioned the seals - of course I also went and checked them out. It is a privately run rescue (Phil: "Because someone has to do it".)

We booked this B&B on very short notice and got a two beds room with a tiny but fine en-suite bathroom. However, there is also a comforable and large living room which you share with one of the other guest rooms. They also have a seal rescue station behind the house and Phil told us all the stories about these cute animals he experienced in the last two years and even allowed us to watch the two little (few days old) harbour seal puppies getting fed in the evening. He served us and other guests a really great breakfast the next morning - freshly made and ready for delivery exactly at that time you have selected on your breakfast card. He even gave us lots of hints what to do in the region.

His partner was about to kicking us out after the first night although we have booked the room for two nights (in one booking process, no amendment etc.) - instead of checking the bookings first (they only have a small number of rooms). Of course, Phil apologised the next morning.

Location is unbeatable. (5 min drive from Dunnetshead). Our host Phil was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was all home made and delicious and more or less a la carte :) Bonus points also for the seal sanctuary on the property.

Our room was a little bit dated and the door separating the bathroom from the bedroom is something you’ll have to get used to (as there practically is no door). Nothing that should keep you from booking though.

Our host, Phil, is up there with one of the most personable people I’ve ever encountered. He managed to make our stay, at an already incredible location with a sea view, even better. Great location to visit Dunnet Head, John O’Groats, Wick and Thurso as a stop off on the NC500. Breakfast was delicious and generous in its portion. Set us up well for the day ahead.

The staff were very helpful with good knowledge of the local area. The rooms are clean and tidy and pretty much the same as the photographs. The location is excellent with good view of the sea and a place to sit right at the edge of cliff! The breakfast was excellent and those who looked after us very helpful and friendly!

The shower clogged up on this visit, but that may not represent the usual plumbing. Also the water pressure for the shower was also low...

Lovely and spacious, sea view, warm, everything we needed for our stay. The cooked breakfast was a bonus and perfectly cooked. Phil & Carol were so welcoming and amazing hosts. Their doggies Skye & Billie were gorgeous and friendly. Just wish we could have stayed longer, didn't want to leave. It's a definite 10/10 from us. Will definitely be back again in a heartbeat ❤️🐾

Nothing we didn't like, it was just perfect

Phil the host was great, gave us lots of information and was very knowledgable about wildlife in the area. The location was fabulous. It was a bonus having the seal sanctuary. Breakfast was also good

The room we stayed in lacked that special attention. Towels very small limited soap, shower gel etc. Fort the size of the room we did feel it was on the exoensive side

Lovely hosts who cooked up a very filling full English breakfast in the morning. We were also greeted by their lovely dogs Billy and Sky who were so friendly. Amazing view from our room overlooking the sea and we could clearly see Orkney across the water, as it was a clear sunny evening! We also saw lots of seals playing below. Excellent location for Dunnet head lighthouse and we enjoyed a very tasty meal at the hotel a short drive away. Would highly recommend staying here!

Location is unbelievable. Amazing views and the wildlife is fantastic. Really friendly hosts and amazing to experience the seal rescue centre there. They are doing an amazing job and it was a pleasure to meet them. Breakfast cooked fresh to your order. Booked us in the local pub for a meal which was fantastic too.

Location was excellent, right at the base of Dunnet Head, and our hosts were welcoming and very easy-going. They also run a seal rescue and rehabilitation at the property, and learning about that operation was really interesting!

It’s definitely a more casual and laid-back b&b, which isn’t a downside unless you’re expecting a more high-end guest house experience. Still a comfortable place to sleep with friendly hosts and friendly dogs!
