Very friendly and very comfortable environment, lovely location, and a room that is neat and lives up to expectations of what was advertised.

Unfortunately, the location on the main road also means a lot of car and truck traffic, mainly trucks with loud brakes in early hours of the morning can cause sleep disruption, that's just the environment though. Also, in our room, there is a light above the bed head backboard, that is not quite secure and in a pretty bad location as it is easy to accidentally whack it when getting in bed in the dark at night and also just an awkward position. May need to be moved up a bit and secured more.

Nice rustic room that met our needs as we were taking the ferry to Kangaroo Island the next morning. The staff did a great job communicating with us as we were checking in after hours. We purchased the breakfast and the cheese platter, both were excellent value. We took the cheese platter in a take away box so we could have it the next day for lunch.

No dinning services near the hotel so make sure to stop before arriving or pick up something to dine in. Also if you need to refuel you car do that as well before arriving as the local gas station closes at 5 pm

The owners were there to greet and orient us to the property, as promised. The room was spacious, very clean, and in a great location, just south of Second Valley township. Although it was on Main South Road, it was exceptionally quiet during our stay - peak times may have more traffic heading south towards the KI ferry. We would be very happy to stay at Second Valley Cottages and Lodge again.

Anyone with mobility issues should let the owners know as accommodation was up a decent flight of stairs.

It was set back from the main road, so it was quiet but easy to access the road out of the area. It was central to Rapid Bay, Normanville and Kangaroo Island to name but a few of areas of Tourist interest. The room had a Microwave, Fridge, Toaster, Tea and Coffee facilities. The owners had provided a complimentary basket of goodies, such as Biscuits (Tim Tams) Crisps, sweets, Cheesy savoury snacks etc. I would recommend the Lodge without hesitation.

Fresh-made muffins were left at our entry together with juice, milk and coffee, very much appreciated. Also, there were fantastic Australian shampoo/conditioner/body balm in the bathroom. The studio apartment was really cosy, would definitely recommend it to other people coming in the area or going to kangaroo island. Thanks for welcoming us :)

Staff were welcoming & friendly. Accommodation was very clean. Breakfast provided was delicious. Shower was a great pressure & instant hot water. The mattress was really comfortable. The communal fire pit was great & the marshmallows for toasting was a nice surprise when sitting around fire at night with other guests.

There was no kitchen sink or bench space inside our room. Had to go outside into the courtyard to rinse off dishes or collect drinking water. Wouldn't be ideal for those colder months of the year. There was no comfortable arm chair to sit in, my husband has had 2 hip replacements & it would have been nice to have a comfy chair to sit in.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy. It had all the necessary facilities and little touches for our 2 night break. The location was great to get to the places we wanted to go.

I think the mattress on our double bed may need replacing, as although very nice to meet in the middle, we did meet more than we should have.

Beautiful to wake up to the wildlife noises and the blissful country sound. Very peaceful and quite location. Convenient to most of the other surroundings towns, so it wasn't far to drive around and look at things.

Spacious room. Prompt reply from staff and good communication. Free snacks (noodles) were offered in the room. Very close to Cape Jervis Ferry terminal, a good location if on the way to Kangaroo Island.

The information booklet may need to be updated as unable to locate some of the restaurants mentioned or the opening time was slightly different. Unable to find the hair dryer in the room.

Staff welcomed us and introduced us to the area. Facilities were clean and roomy. Plenty to do in the area and had an excellent time

I was having allergic reaction to sleeping on the bed due to dust mite build up. Not a surprise as this happens often in hotel rooms.
