at the checkout date the front desk clerk wanted me to pay for the city tax (no surprise there). But when I gave him cash he refused to accept it. According to him the management has instructed staff to no longer accept cash, not even for 12 EUR of city tax. I find this highly problematic, as cash is the only universal, non-discriminatory form of payment available to anyone. Also, if they have such rules, those must be communicated *before* a booking is placed, so the guest can decide at that point to look for an alternative hotel with less obnoxiuous policies. Instead, the booking.com listing still lists cash as a payment method even today :(

Liked the proximity to the exhibition centre. Rooms are fairly updated and things are in working order. Elevator though small is working and never broke down during my 5 days stay.

Price during the period of travel was high without breakfast included. Had to keep windows closed due to bees entering my room and woke me up at 5am.

The location is great and the price for the rooms and location was adequate. Location is super, very quiet. Common areas stylish, not opulent.

I booked a very small single room with a loft bed. Access to the loft bed is inappropriate. While I don't mind climbing a ladder, having the ladder parallel to the bed makes it very awkward to enter and especially exit the loft. I also did not like that there was no 24 hour reception and one had to get a key from a lock box in the lower ground floor.

This hotel has a cool style, and it's in the perfect spot – you can stroll to loads of attractions. Our room faced a lovely garden and was super peaceful. We loved the chill common areas and the little extras like board games.

The only hiccup was at checkout. Even though we'd paid through the booking site, the hotel's system didn't recognise it, so we had to pay again, but received the refund 3 days later.

Breakfast was simple but well thought out. Coffee was excellent. The hotel was small enough to make it feel like a really intimate experience and yet all the services were spot on.

There was nothing I didn't like about ths hotel. It was quiet and in a really good location. Although it was raining upon arrival, the staff were helpful in booking me a taxi when I needed to go further than around the corner.

The hotel was in a very nice residential area with close access and walking distance to a variety of services. it was very clean and a nice change from the standard hotel. it was also close to the train station, a large park and the conference center. Overall it was a positive experience.

I did not opt for the breakfast because (US) $20 for breakfast seemed excessive. A small refrigerator would have been nice. Although I did not have any problems the lack of a 24 hour operated desk was a little surprising, especially given the rate of the hotel. It was not as well known to either my arrival or departing taxi driver. access to more English-speaking channels on the television would’ve also been nice.

Nice hotel, clean and close to the exhibition center (10 min walk) on the other side of a park. Very silent residential area. The furniture is modern green-minimal but tasteful and not cheap. Wifi perfectly working. Double courtains are perfect if you need dark to sleep well.

The welcome drink is a large bottle of water that you carry with you in the room. It's ok, but 1) I expect a bottle of water for this class of hotel, 2) calling it a welcome drink looks like a joke... After 9PM you can only enter with a badge, looks like no one is at the reception.

This is a beautiful 140 year old townhouse in one of the most glorious residential streets of Rothenbaum near the university. stilwerk is a design shopping mall near the Harbour which uses this hotel as a show room for some of their products. every piece from the chairs to the toilets you can order. Furthermore, the breakfast is small but delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. They offer bikes with which you can be in the city center in ten minutes.

my single room was cozy but tiny. i still liked it.

Staff very friendly, rooms modern and nicely refurnished in a beautiful "merchant family house" from the late 1800s, rooms very clean; building, rooms and the surrounding area exceptionally well-tended.

If I had wanted to use a desk, I would not have found one inside my room (I booked the most economic type of rooms), but there would have been space to work within the hotel.

although a fantastic selection of reading materials were provided, with dark walls, a soft ceiling light and a bedside lamp that pointed at the ceiling, reading was a challenge. It was also very warm with no AC or fan, but the window did open
