We had a nice 3 days in Pelgrims Rest staying at the Royal Hotel (Old Bank rooms) Neat and clean and ideal for people that just want to get away to get some rest. Visited beautiful waterfalls in the surrounding areas. I will definitely recommend it.

Phone signal is a bit difficult but like I said if you want to go and have a good rest this is the place

Stayed here before - in 1989. Felt just the same. Quaint, old fashioned feel to it. Got what I expected and very happy with it. Had a great breakfast that morning and a most enjoyable evening meal the night of our stay. All felt very safe walking around.

Travelled from the UK and hotel only had the round plug sockets rather than the square more modern type. Should have brought a travel plug after all.

So much history and we loved the quaint, large rooms. The staff was very accommodating, especially Bright who checked us in and continued to help us during our stay

I was with my husband, son and daughter. The place is so mind refreshing and it's a heritage site. I liked the hospitality and the fact that there's a police station within the areas so safety is guaranteed. The break fast was superb

The smell in the rooms but not a train smesh since it is a heritage site

the hotel is moreorless in keeping with the gold mining period. The bedrooms were clean and tastefully furnished. Friendly staff generally.

There was no electricity when we arrived in PR, but that wasn't the fault of the hotel. The lounge area of our house was a little "musty". And we were in a separate building to the other 2 people in our party, but not too serious in such a small town. For the town, it would be nice if there was more variety for the street vendors - all the goods are the same, so makes purchasing from individuals very difficult.

Olde worldy experience. Drove though last year and wanted to see a bit more of Pilgrims Rest, so booked this year

Candles in rooms. Dangerous Department of Public Works should allocate more funds to these Heritage Sites Load Sedding at a most inconvenient time

The rooms are in good condition - fresh and clean despite the hotel being quiet for so long and still recovering from the fall-out of Covid. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The barman (Ken) entertained our group well and made for a fun evening with our friends. Parking (secure) was easy and spacious and covered.

The coffee provided in the room could be of better quality but was not a problem. We didnt eat at the hotel but our friends staying with us couldnt finish their breakfast, so this clearly requires attention.

The ambiance was amazing loved the town and the bath was big enough for 2

The hotel provides breakfast and a buffet at supper that was the only thing that really disappointed

Staying at the hotel is like spending time in a living museum. Gorgeous quaint town holding on to its heritage. The downside is that with that there is no or very limited internet access, and no TV.

Extremely limited options for a vegetarian to eat at the hotel restaurant and in town generally. Lack of wifi in the room to have evening entertainment.

A step back in time. Comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast. Parking. Able to accomodate our late arrival.

We booked 2 rooms. One of them had a bit of sewer smell. The open bathtub without curtains was difficult not to flood the entire bathroom.
