the location of this hotel was superb - very close to the river, bars and restaurants. We stayed for 2x 1 night stays in the same week, and were really impressed by the excellent reception staff who were very helpful in dealing with our late arrivals and early departures each time. Because of how well we were looked after for our first (very brief) first night stay we looked forward to returning later in the week. Hotel itself is very grand, rooms large and very well equipped. There are cheaper alternatives in Skopje but I still found this to be very good value for the reasons stated. Will return.

The option of a buffet breakfast earlier would have been good (we had to leave before breakfast time for both of our stays.) Signposting from the carparking to reception could be better.

Situated in the center of Skopje, this is a true gem of a stay. Be mindful of taking a pet in, there is an additional 46€ fee to pay for the pet on top of the room cost. Amazing breakfast, the room was spacious and elegant, access to gym and spa are nice bonuses.

Some of the furniture feels dated/unkept, one of the legs of the nightstand was just “leaning on it” because it was broken and then crudely glued on and detached, which is not something you expect to see in a 5* hotel.

Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and clean with good facilities. We stayed for one week. The staff were friendly, efficient, competent and well-trained. At breakfast there was a wide range of foods to suite most tastes and egg dishes could be cooked to order. We used the travel desk to arrange car trips to neighbouring countries and was impressed with the standard of car and driver provided. Located in the heart of this interesting city there were plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby. Many of the sights of Skopje were within easy walking distance.

This is a very good hotel but there were small maintenance issues, which we reported. These included broken hinges on cupboards and the telephone system delivering early morning calls which we didn't ask for. None of these defects affected our enjoyment of the hotel. For one meal the side dishes were cold. When reported we were offered replacement dishes. Since there were so many good and cheaper restaurants within easy walking distance we chose to eat out.

Location, breakfast and hotel ambience

I asked for early check in but even at 3pm one of the room was not ready. Hotel in below response claims that second room was ready prior to 3pm is totally incorrect. It is not good to note that Hotel records are incorrectly filled instead of improving the service. Hotel should check telephone record that I made a call from my room after 3pm (around 3:15pm) complaining that the second room was still not ready.

The hotel is located in an excellent location, right in the center of Skopje, near all major tourist attractions, shops, and restaurants. The hotel itself has a café and restaurant, an executive lounge for work or meetings, a spa, and an excellent gym.

Regarding drawbacks, we were assigned a room overlooking a building under construction, and the view is quite unpleasant and partially noisy. If possible, request a room with a view of the square. The accommodation is not cheap, so they should accommodate this request. Additionally, the reception is very slow in dealing with clients. Finally, we had serious issues with ordering taxis, and even though this might not be solely the hotel's fault, the taxi they called twice was about 20 minutes late each time, and the last time we almost missed our flight. This is a general issue in Skopje, but a serious hotel should take care of the taxi service it offers to its guests.

We love the service, it was fantastic. The Marriott is in a great position and the facilities are great, but what makes the Marriott Skopje is the staff. All of them. Everyone was so helpful from the District Restaurant to the Reception. Reception provided advice we needed, were so accomodating and organised taxis to some difficult places. There was helpful advice and they all want the extra mile. Its very child friendly and I would recommend for families. The gym was great and spa centre was brilliant to rest and relax. I recommend the spa services and also a message. They were all so accomodating. We are so grateful to all the staff. You made our holiday so special

The Marriott hotel in Skopje was truly an amazing experience! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and we were upgraded to a room with a breathtaking view of the city as an extra bonus for our honeymoon. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers and hearts, and the delicious chocolate cake was the perfect ending to the day. We truly enjoyed every moment at this impressive hotel. Top notch location. Great choice of facilities. The hotel room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. We got a high floor room but it was an adjoined room. Staff was great and very helpful.

Toilet was not part of the bathroom. Bathrooms drain did not work very well and was flooding the bathroom floor and the room carpet. There were some stains on the carpet and the curtains, but nothing major. The TV is kind of a smart TV with Marriots branded system, but it was sluggish and kept restarting itself.

Reception/front office staff was brilliant, diligent and rxcellent guides and ambassadors to Skopje many offerings and outstanding representatives of Marriott Skopje style and care philosophy of visiting clients. That is no accident , just dedication and outstanding attitude to hosting guests, shared by all people working at the front desk! I wish we could clone these people and distribute them in many more hotels, where their professionalism and attitude is seriously lacking. However the fix is simple: when your steps take you to Skopje Macedonia, just stay at the Marriott hotel and look for Sanjia. She and her team will take good care of you! Alain
