The hotel was a modern facility with lots of international and Japanese tourists. Clean and efficient. We were in transit to the national park in Kamikochi, and the hotel was a good "no worries" spot on the journey. We had to deposit our shoes in lockers on arrival - my first and only experience of that on this trip. Breakfast was good although the breakfast room was somewhat crowded with some guests eating alone on a "bar"-type counter on the side. The food quality was good. The hotel is well located for night-time access to the restaurant and bar district. We had a great meal there. The next morning, we quickly walked to the Castle which was not far. It's also an easy walk to Matsumoto JR station for our trip to Kamikochi.
The name of the hotel doesn't capture the notion that it's right in town a few blocks from the JR station. I didn't notice any "natural hot spring." I had come from Hokkaido where there really were "natural hot springs." The contrast was dramatic.

We loved this place, due to its design, comfort and little extras that made the stay so enjoyable. Clean, comfortable room, very cozy. Completely dark and quiet at night. Nice view over Matsumoto and the mountains. Beautiful outdoor and indoor Onsen and small sauna. Couple of free things that sweetened the experience: very tasty soup in the evening, popsicles next to the Onsen, welcome drink. Good location, close to restaurants, could walk to the castle. The room is rather small, but normal for Japan and well designed to feel spacious.
We were charged an extra 300yen for parking our car 1.5 hours before check-in. A little bit steep for 90 minutes considering we are hotel guests, and we were leaving early the next morning thus freeing up the spot. The check-in machines were annoying: a person ended up doing the check-in for us at the counter as they could not solve the issue either. Helpful staff.

Beautiful hotel, very clean, traditional style with tatami on the floor you should leave your shoes when entering this may be an inconvenient for foreigners but it’s like habit when done it’s comfortable and cozy. Breakfast is one of the best tried in Japan. Very nice onsen. Room is nice and clean. Staff very kind and English speaking. Free drinks during your stay.
Breakfast time too early Room need more space for luggage Some shelves on the bathroom could be useful Elevator a bit busy and slow

No one can wear shoes in the hotel . There are shoe lockers at the entrance. In the room , there are slippers for just bathroom use, and emergency slippers in a bag just in case. Everything is new and clean. The breakfast buffet is tremendous deal and tasty. We used the onsen twice a day . So relaxing . This was a good jump off point for Kamikochi ( hiking) and Azumino (Daio wasabi farm).
The location is further from the city center and tourists destination. But easily walkable

Great location, an easy walk from the train station, even with luggage. The hotel is very clean, but beware you do have to remove your shoes at the entrance, leave them in a locker, and walk to your room in your socks. Our room was small, but workable and very clean. The bathroom and shower were very small, but the shower pressure was fantastic, as we found in most Japan hotels. They know how to do showers right! The bed was comfortable. We walked all over Matsumoto from the hotel. It was about a 20-minute walk to Matsumoto Castle, good exercise after a long train ride. We were able to walk everywhere we went, including the miso factory for a tour and to a fantastic Neapolitan pizza restaurant for dinner, Pizza Verde Matsumoto. Onyado Nono is a great option for our one-night stay in Matsumoto. Easy walk back to the train station early the next morning.

Beautiful indoor/outdoor public bath with a huge sauna, gorgeous rooms, tatami everywhere, no shoes inside, tasty drip coffee in rooms
I can't think of anything I didn't like. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

The Japanese breakfast buffet was simply exceptional. Many traditional dishes were served, & good quality ingredients were used. If we return to Matsumoto again, we may book this hotel again only to savour its great & good Japanese breakfast spread. The other feature that we like is the onsen - balanced lighting, quality shampoo & bathing wash, & most importantly, a clean place to shower & onsen in peace.
While language may be a barrier, we felt unwelcome. The front desk staff were seriously cold & unfriendly, even at check-in & check-out transactions. Such unwelcome stance was especially felt whenever we & all other guests entered the front door, as they zoomed in with near yelling voices to tell us to remove our shoes. It happened every time we passed the front door for the two nights we stayed there. All guests were cooperative & understood the hotel policy that no outside shoes are allowed inside the hotel. The point is - do the front desk staff need to speak so sternly, so coldly, so belittling to the guests?

The facilities and the service were exceptional. Very helpful and friendly staff provided necessary information and even brought luggage to the room. The natural hot springs were beyond expectations; including the guest amenities (sleep/loungewear and toiletries provided). Breakfast was on of the best breakfasts at a hotel I have ever experienced. Fresh and traditional Japanese food for anyone to enjoy. Highly recommend this place for a pleasant stay near the train station and within walking distance of several landmarks.
Nothing to dislike! Only that it was a little confusing trying to find the correct door to enter the property.

The public transportation we were using during our trip was delayed, and we ended up arriving around 11 p.m. However, when we called to inform them about the delay, they told us that the front desk is available 24hrs, and we could check in anytime, which allowed us to head there without worry. The room was very clean and compact, and it was comfortable enough. And we can walk around barefoot. It was so comfortable because we didn’t need to take on our shoes when we go out. The hot spring was also open late at night, so we could relax and rejuvenate our tired bodies before sleeping. Both the bed and mattress had the perfect firmness for us, and we slept very comfortably. The breakfast was satisfying, with a well-rounded menu that left us more than satisfied. Overall, we were very happy with the hot springs, the cleanliness and comfort of the room, and the meals. If I had to mention one thing, since we came with backpacks after a hike, it was easy for us to open and close our luggage. However, I think if you had a large suitcase, you might have to move the table around, and only one person could open their luggage at a time. But if you use the bed, I think two people could open their suitcases at the same time, so it’s not that big of a deal.
