Honestly it was fantastic, we stayed between Christmas and New Year so a busy time for the Team but Patience, Luca, Tash Gladice and the whole team were exceptional. The rooms, the atmosphere, the food and the location are all amazing. I genuinely can't tell you what an amazing gem of a hotel this is and I'm not sure hotel is the right word, it feels more like a family house with owners who have amazing taste and really understand their guests. If you don't like staying at Derwent House I think that may say more about you then it does about them lol So much I could say, but the crux of it, would we go back again, in a heartbeat, would I recommend it, I would recommend it to our Mums :)) Thanks for making the stay what it was Sam and John

Nothing, the place is amazing, the attention to detail something many business aspire to but few can achieve.

We cannot speak more highly about this place. DH is a colourful warm & friendly little sanctuary. The staff are all amazing, the room was so unique with lovely views of Table Mountain & the sea in the distance. Lots of lovely touches that made our stay so memorable. The breakfasts are delicious with lots of options & daily specials. They bake cakes that you can help yourself to in the afternoon & well stocked wine & gin bar on honesty basis Pool area is lovely with a hot tub & plenty of comfortable chairs / beds Nothing was too much trouble Amazing place that is a must stay Well done DH team !

I can't tell you enough how much I loved my stay here. I am so fortunate that with my job I get to stay in some incredible hotels, but honestly? Nothing compares to Derwent House. As a lone female traveller, it's rare I stay somewhere and feel so safe. Here I could totally relax. Unfortunately I was really unwell whilst on holiday and the team really looked after me. Nothing was too much trouble. Even the breakfast pack made for me when I went on an early morning excursion was perfect. The attention to detail was also incredible; a daily newspaper on the breakfast specials, a chocolate on my pillow with tomorrow's weather forecast and a chilled bottle of water made me smile every day and made me feel so much better. I will return as soon as I can. Magical.

Location is great. The property itself is on a quiet street but just off one of the main thoroughfares Kloof street where there are restaurants, convenience stores and ATMs. The breakfast was delicious with daily specials the in house chef prepares. They also have tea time with cakes and other complimentary goodies. The staff was wonderful. We interacted the most with Tash who went above and beyond for us and was a wealth of good information. So was Luca.

Of course being a boutique hotel the room is on the smaller size and I would prefer the shower be enclosed as the half closed half open thing made it easy for the floor to get wet.

I had a lovely 2 night stay but would have happily stayed a week. breakfast was excellent. Alongside the buffet of pastries and yoghurts, there were lovely selections cooked to order, for example local smoked trout with scrambled eggs. Staff were very friendly and helpful, checking all the time that everything was ok. They packed me a lovely breakfast and made me a coffee when I had an early start for a trip. The location was very convenient for nice restaurants and the area felt very safe. The hotel decor was fabulous with lovely African prints and fabrics everywhere. As others have commented it was a much more intimate and welcoming experience than many hotels and I was genuinely sad to leave. I hope to go back soon.

The only downside was that I could hear the front door bell from my room, so the Saturday night I was there it rang quite late with guests coming back. I was probably more sensitive than usual recovering from a long flight with no sleep.

Everything about my experience staying at Derwent House was exceptional. From the incredible hospitality to the cosy communal living room to the amazing food - breakfast and the daily soup and cakes (put on during winter). I was on a business trip attending a conference and every day I really felt I came "home" to the warmest people, the most cosy relaxing environment and all under the breath-taking changing view of Table Mountain, right around the corner (walking distance) from the vibrant Kloof Street. I will never stay anywhere else if in Cape Town again!

The weather (hahah) although honestly even the weather (which was wintery) didn't put me off as there was a beautiful roaring fire to snuggle up infront of!

You are treated like a member of the family at Derwent House. From the moment you book, the staff is reaching out to help you have the best stay in Cape Town suggesting places to visit, restaurants, tours, etc. The rooms are a good size and decorated well. The hotel is well decorated and has great art throughout. I enjoyed a hearty breakfast daily and looked forward to relaxing in the evening with a delectable dessert and tea or wine/spirits. Luca, Oliver, Gladys and Mercy do everything they can to ensure a wonderful stay. I hope to return to Caoe Town in the future and will definitely book again at the Derwent House. As I fly home to Louisiana, I have already recommended Derwent House to other travelers.

Nothing. I enjoyed everything

What a treat the Derwent House was. From the friendly and knowledgable staff to the lovely homy and colourful decor to the little attentions like fresh cake and coffee on hand at all times. We loved the neighbourhood that has countless options to dine a few minutes on foot, a short distance from Table mountain and pleasantly distant from downtown which was still accessible if you fancy a longer walk. Breakfast was varied, generous and quite good, the honour wine and gin bar provide just enough selection for a nice happy hour to cheer a beautiful day out and about.

We spent a whole week so could have done with a little more space inside the room as you tend to expand as you go! But nothing that unpleasant with access to our own terrasse to expend our living area.

Since the moment we booked the attention was top. We went for our honeymoon and they prepared the room with champagne and decorations, this amazing detail melted my heart, you can tell they care. All the staff is super friendly, they were so everything to help you with recommendations for dinner and tours. Derwent house is the best option if you are looking for a “home” feeling, all decorations are amazing, I wanted to buy everything I saw, you can see love and attention in every single detail. Breakfast was espectacular, complete and with good flavor. Afternoon tea, coffee and cakes makes the difference, again you feel taken care of. Thank you to all the staff Luca, Oliver, Gladys, Patience, housekeeping and kitchen for doing our honeymoon very memorable. You won two more customers for life! Will be recommending it as much as we can!

Room was a bit small BUT worked perfectly fine for us

Beautifully set boutique hotel with amazing friendly and helpful staff. We had the suite which was spacious and comfortable with outdoor balconies. Pool is lovely and not too busy with towels and little areas to relax and settle in. Afternoon cake and fruit is provided and honesty box for other snacks and drinks. Good choice of cooked breakfast and continental selection. Lovely communal lounge area too. On street parking available on first come basis. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Derwent House!
