Staff - exceptional helpfulness and friendliness, cleanliness, standard of furnishings and fittings, attention to detail exceptional throughout with clear thoughtfulness for guest experience, welcoming chef's chocs in room, access to seafront, great outlook on seafront from the public areas, useful free parking. Hope they can keep these standards up past the newness.

First room I had over kitchen extractor really noisy but seamlessly changed when I complained. The 'high end' leaf teas in the room very unpleasant to undrinkable as were the coffees from the coffee machine in the room - ordinary teabags - e.g.Twinings - almost any supermarket brand would be better as would good quality instant coffee sachets! A small quiet lounge would be a welcome addition but the lack of this is not a disincentive for a return visit

The overall vibe was excellent and just what the refurb needed. It is stylish, clean, fresh and welcoming. Understated with hints of luxury everywhere. You have certainly capitalised on the location. Communal areas and guest rooms alike. Bed really comfortable. It was our 40th Anniversary and we were given an upgrade. The restaurant manager at lunch treated us to our wine. Lunch was simply delicious. The crab and battered samphire were so good! Thank you to everyone who welcomed us so well.

We don’t like Nespresso pod coffee machines and I wasn’t disappointed. We also don’t like milk in silly little sachets. The cushions on the room chairs slipped. The quarter light above the patio doors was locked so we had to sleep with the French doors open. No big deal, but felt vulnerable. (The key could not be found). The radio had not been tuned in and getting on iPlayer and ITV X was far from straight forward. An observation: the floors creak! Our evening meal was nowhere near as good as lunch. As if it was a different chef and it was a very different team of staff. They did respond when we complained, but not with the passion shown by the luncheon team.

Our room was warm and cosy, the bed very comfortable and Sarah the receptionist gave us a very helpful and kind welcome. We liked the fresh milk for the excellent tea and coffee making facilitiesWe appreciated the treat in the treasure box. The shower had a non slip base and was easy to operate. The room was decorated with a palette of sea colours.

It would have helped to have a few instructions about operation of the TV and delightful little Roberts radio and the coffee machine....all a bit too high tech for us. This didn't spoil our visit and is just a suggestion

An exceptional hotel. From the moment you step through the doors you know that this hotel is special. That impression remains throughout the stay. The rooms, the staff, the food and the service are 5 star. We have stayed in many hotels around the country, and The White Horses is up there with the best. Well done and thank you to all involved for our wonderful stay.

We did not like that we had to leave. It is the sort of place where you just want to stay that little longer to soak up more of the wonder.

Very comfortable room. Travelled with my adult daughter and she slept comfortably on the sofa bed. We got an unexpected sea view too, Service was great with added thoughtful touches e.g. sweet treat on arrival . Fresh milk provided in the room and outside the door in the morning. (no fridge in room) Decor was welcoming and not overwhelming. Free parking was helpful too. Staff friendly and informative. The refurbishment of the entire hotel has been excellent.

we dined in in the evening and I wouldn't recommend the fish chowder. Very underwhelming and quite expensive. Where was the fish? But it might have been an off night.

The location was lovely, overlooking the sea. The hotel is only recently refurbished so everything is fresh and of good quality. The room was a good size and comfortable. We booked a room with a balcony which was well worth the extra. Nice touches in the room- a Nepresso machine as well as a kettle, home made jammy dodgers and both still and sparkling water. Storage is adequate, the shower is excellent and bathrobes provided. We ate in the restaurant, which was good and there is also a bar menu. Parking is free for residents and there is a very good and frequent bus service into Brighton from right outside the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Staff were helpful and genuinely welcoming in arrival from the outset. The cleanliness and the interior style (recently refurbished hotel, since July) were high standard and made for a friendly atmosphere. I chose this hotel due to revisiting the area for a birthday weekend, mine and my friend's. . Locally sourced products in the hotel in their reception, gift area, and throughout the hotel made for a nice touch. The receptionist was enthusiastic and friendly, professional whilst allocating our rooms. My room was more spacious than I had expected, very clean and with attention to detail.for facilities. Good selection of herbal teas, biscuits, and water, coffee. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and decor in keeping with the location but not tacky.. I slept really well.! In-house made or local (?) complementary chocolate truffles in a small wooden box were lovely. I'm not sure if they were due to the hotel being aware of our birthdays or all the guests receive. But nice thought, though Good sea view from my room at front of hotel and closeness for the pebble beach, south coast walks, and local Rottingdean village, Rottingdean Windmill, Rudyard Kipling House were great. The bar, restaurant space is a nice open space and breakfast bar for the morning within it. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming and we ate in at the restaurant. Food was great quality and well presented. Any queries or small amendments to customise the choices were made without any fuss .Ethan, who was our waiter, could not have been more accommodating , as we're the bar staff and breakfast team this morning pre check out Nothing is too much trouble to want to make your stay a good one. I hope that approach continues. Highly recommend

WiFi seems to drop off regularly then will reconnect.Maybe that's due to location, as opposed to their network provider?. Perhaps teething problems to check. Other than this nothing . Great experience !

A superb refurbishment; location on the seafront.

Room 109: - A heating problem needs resolving - i.e. how to set and reset the heating control panel; one staff member managed it but couldn't remember how she had done so! - The extractor fan over the in-room bath continues after the bathroom lights and fan have been switched. Makes the room noisy - Rubber mat needs supplying as the shower tray is unsafely slippery. - The large TV half obliterates the sea view! - The windows (and probably others in the front as well,) do not easily offer an actual sea view unless you are standing at them! The rooms with balcony would be a better bet if an actual sea view is important. The restaurant menu and service did not actually live up to the expectations of the very smart decor.

The location of White Horses is wonderful! Right on the beach! We booked a room with sea view and balcony and it was perfect. The room was very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Little touches made it special. There was a delicious welcome home made flapjack. I liked that in the barhroom, the shower controls were directly as you entered the shower, and not under the nozzle, so possible to start it running without getting soaked . Sitting on the balcony with a drink in the evening watching the sun go down was a treat. The theme of the decor throughout the hotel is 1930s/40s ocean liner and it is of a very high quality. The menu in the restaurant was both creative and also offered traditional favorites like fish and chips. Everything we tried was very good. All staff we met were friendly, relaxed and helpful. We will be going back when we next need to recharge our batteries.

Really beautifully refurbished old beachfront pub/hotel in a good spot for Rottingdean beach. Very nice receptionist, free parking, and the bar has a beautiful terrace with a sea view. Lovely handmade biscuits on arrival.

I feel bad to point it out because the hotel staff were so nice, but I was a bit shocked to see such bad damp on our bedroom and bathroom wall. I understand that it’s a hard problem to fix but I just didn’t expect to see lots of paint bubbling and flaking off the walls in this type of luxury property. Also, the TV didn’t work, although to be fair we didn’t discover that until we were in bed so we didn’t give them the chance to fix it. Service wasn’t great in the bar, with lots of tables left uncleared. But despite these things, we had a nice time overall.
