Wonderful hotel where we were welcomed warmly by a professional staff member in reception. He is a real credit to the hotel. Super helpful and passionate about the town, giving us a number of great tips that helped us during our limited time there. Received an upgraded to a suite for our family, which was comfortable and clean for my wife and daughter. Very central location as well close to the train station and an easy walk to the town centre and beach. If we are ever back in the region we will be staying at the Metropol again.

Wifi was patchy, but staff accommodated this by enabling us to use wifi in the lounge area.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. The location is fantastic, right beside the town railway station and bus station- but you don’t hear the trains throughout the night! It’s a cosy, traditional hotel with everything you need. I stayed in a single room which had a double bed, tv, bath/shower and fast WiFi. It was spotlessly clean and I slept like a log. The lady who checked me in spoke perfect English and was helpful and friendly. There is a bar too which I used and got a nice pint of Jupiler. I visit Calais often enough and won’t hesitate to stay here again too. The price is extremely reasonable and great value for money.

The friendly staff was helpful and i was particularly happy they spoke english very well. My french language skills are poor and communicating in english makes things so much easier. The room and bathroom were clean and the beds were good. I slept very well. The hotel is good enough for a one night stay. Hotel's location is good too. Little to no city noise. Note to motorcycle riders: Metropol hotel has a very spacious and closed garage to park your motorcycle safely. But keep in mind, you need to order parking lot separately. Metropol charges a small fee for the parking, but hey your motorcycle is worth it.

The bathroom is small, though all you need to freshen up is included.

Lovely and helpful Staff, and 24h reception. As always, kettle in the room and an option to use the private garage are for me the main sale. As are comfortable and clean beds. Also this time only a single room was available and that simply meant a double bed in much smaller room which was a nice surprise. For an overnight stay legroom is not all that important for me 🙃

This time, in the bathroom the tub stopper and the sink stopper were not in fully working order, but i managed to use both after some fiddling. In general, across the hotel, the decor in some rooms is more outdated than in others. Also No aircon means it could be tough to sleep there in the heat of the Summer.

Welcoming, helpful, friendly staff, clean, comfortable bed. Some obvious updating of the bathroom which was clean and had a good shower. I didn't eat at the hotel as I had to leave at 07.00 and I didn't feel ready for breakfast so early but the dining room looked very welcoming and well-presented. Indoor, private garage which I had booked in advance

Although the bathroom had been updated the lavatory seat was not properly fixed and the lavatory itself was badly placed for any comfort. The temporary-looking wall behind the loo was not finished, there were breaks and tears in the wall. Such a shame as the rest of the bathroom had been nicely finished.

Great little hotel a stones throw from the local bars and restaurants as well as the port. It's quaint and not the Ritz, but that just adds to the charm I think. The rooms are clean and there is a secure garage which is great for motorcyclists. Friendly staff and a well stocked bar area. Didn't have breakfast on this occasion due to ferry times, but have stayed here before and it was a shame to have missed it. Many thanks.

Nothing - second time I've stayed here, which is a good enough recommendation in itself.

The room was nice, clean and comfortable enough for two of us and our little dog. There are lifts which was helpful for me as I’m disabled and I parked my car right outside. The breakfast was good and there was plenty to eat to start you off on your day. The town centre is close for shops, restaurants and the beach which was nice

We lost the internet on the 2nd night through no one’s fault and that was a little inconvenient.

Very large suite which was lovely and cool on a hot day, despite no air con. Everything was very clean. Reception staff were very cordial and helpful. Beds were very comfortable.

There was some evidence of damp in our room with wallpaper coming away/puffing up near a window. Breakfast was very disappointing. We had smelled bacon and read on here that hot breakfast was cooked to order but despite the waitress coming to our table with coffee several times, nothing was offered and I ended up with a dry roll and a hard-boiled egg as I’m lactose intolerant. Also there was a lot of noise from guests arriving back close to midnight, running around and shouting. Generally the hotel experience was positive though.

It's an easy walk into town to find restaurants etc. The parking provided (at a small extra cost) was convenient and secure. The quality of the lounge, bar etc. was better than we expected, as was the breakfast (at extra cost). We would certainly be happy to use this hotel again if passing through Calais. The manager was particularly friendly and helpful.

Nothing to complain about at this price.

Very comfortable bed with 2 pillows each, on our first day, we are so tired and just slept through. They changed our towels every day. Kept our room tidy. Thank you all for looking after us, we have a nice stay👌

The light on the hall way didn’t come on easy, you have to walk further to let the other lights on but the one near our door don’t . Not a big deal as we used our phone to light our door as we try to open our room
