This hotel is relatively new and shows like it. A beautifully designed open lobby area with stylish comfortable furniture leading to a bright cafe/breakfast area, greet you on the ground floor. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. The valets were polite and brought our car very quickly. The room and bathroom themselves were basic but spacious with laminate floor (much better than carpet) nice and clean. For me the beds were not that comfortable. We were in a Queen, maybe Kings size bed is better. The location is a positive and negative. While it's close to the main downtown street, walkable to excellent restaurants and bars, it is also near the train tracks, so we did get woken a few times with the train horns through the night. The best feature of the hotel is the roof top bar and restaurant which is also open to the public and serves a very nice breakfast and a wonderful cocktail.

Loved that it had an up to date contemporary design, it was clean and had a very easy and comfortable vibe. The bathroom was appropriately stocked with toiletries and it was a V Generous size.

Cannot think of one thing that we didn’t like. The price was comparable to hotel chains that were of significantly less quality and that did not offer dining options that came anywhere close to what The Melba offered. On our return trip north back to Canada we will definitely be looking for the Hilton Tapestry collection hotels along our way.

Location was great. My room had a view of the water. There were shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel was easy to find, room was very clean and comfortable. There was also a coffee shop in the lobby which was very convenient.

Self-parking is across the street from the hotel itself, only valet parking is convenient to the front of the hotel. I paid for Valet parking but then coming in two nights, I had to find parking for myself because no one was at the valet stand. I waited for 15 minutes but then decided to find parking myself.

People make the place, and the staff here is exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.

If I HAD to pick one thing, there could be more or brighter lighting in the rooms. Now, my particular situation is not like most - here on vacation - but, I had to be up before sunrise most mornings and a bit brighter lightning would have been nice.

TV needs input of anyone brings their own way of streaming, not fair if you have to pay for premium WiFi after spending so much on booking the room. The location was not ideal only because of parking. You either pay for valet parking or have your car on the street. Can’t park in certain areas due to other public buildings blocking or giving a time frame to only park during certain hours.

The hotel staff, location, and amenities were excellent. If I am ever in Melbourne again, I will definitely stay here.

The rooftop restaurant. The service, though polite, seemed inept. Tables were unbussed, and spoons for coffee had to be requested as well as salt and pepper. The huevos rancheros were not done well and left me with indigestion. On the whole, the one negative with our stay in Melbourne was this restaurant.

We got upgraded to a larger, corner room. We also ate at the restaurant and it was delicious!

When we came into our room there was a large pool of water (we think it was water) that we had to clean up. There were no leaks in the ceiling so we had no clue where it came from. It was a pretty unpleasant first impression. Overall the stay was great, though.

There is no pool at this hotel and the only place to relax outside is the rooftop restaurant. The air conditioner would frequently turn on and off throughout the night and it was very noisy. It was not really working it was humid in the room

Dud not get breakfast

TV reception failed on 2nd night of stay. Only provided a few tissues in bathroom. Minimalist decor was uninspiring. Hard bed. Chair was also hard as if it was not provided for sitting. Motorcycle racing on fri night was hard to sleep through. I was promised a bill by email and still have not received it.

I had lunch and it was delicious. The drinks and view were amazing.

I didn't like that the snacks in the lobby were expensive - $7.00 for a small Pringle and can of sprite. The rooftop was closed after 11pm. I was hungry after watching a Broadway show at the The Henegar Theatre and didn't eat anything afterwards.
