Our stay at this hotel was fantastic. The staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to ensure all our needs were met. The location is perfect, just one street behind the main promenade. Breakfast was lovely and was a refreshing change from the overcrowded queues you can experience at bigger hotel chains. The honesty bar was a nice touch and there is a lovely terrace to relax on with your chosen drink/snack. On the whole a fantastic boutique hotel experience. We also loved Nice, Monaco and Eze and will definitely return.

My only comment would be the size of the small double room. It was small and a bit cramped. If returning I would upgrade to a bigger room.

There are three things that make The Hôtel de France stand out from the sizeable competition: the wonderful staff, the comfortable rooms and the location just moments from The Negresco and the Promenade des Anglais. Nothing is too much at this hotel and it's so welcoming and homely from the moment you arrive. Small touches like the free coffee, drinks and pastries in the lobby/ breakfast room to the 'Honesty Bar' are delightful. We stayed in two rooms - one on the first floor with a balcony and on the third floor without. Both were superbly presented with a kettle, coffee machine, fridge, more towels than we could ever use and pillows aplenty. Superb. Breakfast is a fair and decent spread too - deliciously fluffy scrambled eggs, sausages, yoghurts, fruits, pastries, etc. More than fair value. It's important to bear in mind that this is a three star hotel, so you will not be getting a Negresco experience. But for one tenth of the price and the same location, I've never seen the point in paying for facilties I never use and almost always prefer to skip hotel restaurants and enjoy authentic local cuisine. Unless you need a spa, concierge, bellboy, swimming pool and myriad other facilities, the Hôtel de France has it all. It's also within a few minutes walking distance of a superb Carrefour City supermarket and every other shop and service you could possibly want. The train station is a 10 minute walk and local buses and trams are also nearby. What more could one possibly want from a stay in magnificent Nice!

The staff were the best I've encountered in all my travels- including to some 5 star hotels! They were all really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were clean and well equipped. And the location was fantastic, just a 3 minute walk from the sea! Excellent value for money.

The room was rather small with the window open the street noise could get a bit much if you're trying to have a lie in. However, we did select the small double room and just had to close the window and use aircon so no love lost! An extractor fan in the bathroom would've been great but there was a window so that works just as well.

Hotel de France is a warm, welcoming place to stay that’s conveniently located close to the Old Town, great restaurants and shops. The management and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and quick to respond to needs. The breakfast room and courtyard were inviting and cheerful. Lots of good options for a full breakfast. Our beds were comfortable and the shower provided good water pressure and temperatures. Great location! We used taxis only from the train station and to the airport. Otherwise, we walked everywhere! Would highly recommend!

Would loved to have had more storage or shelves for clothes, but no big deal.

The design was cool and the staff was impeccable. The manager was so kind and sweet, he made the place worth it. Their breakfast is also great. The location was very walkable and safe.

I hate even writing anything negative since the manager was so great. The room was a much smaller configuration from the photos used on booking. We Could barely get around the bed to the bathroom. There were stains on the curtains and large chair in the room but the manager took care of that himself. On our last day we saw a large amount of mold in the bathroom so we tried to keep the windows open to not breath it in.

The staff was exceptional, and we even met the owner which seems to be a rarity these days. Such a great surprise to meet him! He takes great pride in the hotel and it shows. They followed up with us before our arrival to ensure everything was in place that we requested. The front desk, Anaïs, is a pro. It's a breath of fresh air to be treated so personally and not just another "number!" Rooms are pleasant, comfortable, and have everything you need. It was our first time in Nice and the location was in proximity to a lot of cool restaurants and the beach. All in all a great value for the price, and we felt right at home. Merci à tout le monde à l'hôtel - nous reviendrons !

The staff at this hotel are lovely and super accommodating - our trade show ended early and they were happy for us to return to the hotel with our bags and store them securely + a location to change and shower. Great spot, will definitely revisit on my next trip to Nice.

Nothing - everything met my expectations, the cost and location were just perfect for our needs. The rooms may be a little small if traveling with a family, but a great place in a central location.

We were very pleasantly surprised, how good the breakfast was, eggs sausages, all beautiful pastries, fresh breads, juice, coffee freshly cut fruit, tea,comfortable seating, possible outside, if wanted. Location is excellent. It is a very charming hotel, we did not want to stay in a big hotel, this hotel is more authentic French hotel. Staff amazing. The receptionist was extremely helpful, no problem was big , everything was easy to solve. The room was clean, comfortable.

I cannot think about anything negative or crtitical

The staff were absolutely lovely - nothing was too much trouble. The location was good in that it was close to the Promenade. The bed in our room was a king size, even though the room was small, and it was very comfortable.

We were on the first floor immediately above reception and the passageway to the terrace and it was noisy at times. The room was also quite dark as a result of where it was situated. However, we could have paid more and booked a larger room on a higher floor.

The staff was above and beyond, trying to help with everything. The breakfast was good, with fresh bread and croissants, sausages and eggs. Fresh coffee and orange juice pressed. The original room was small for our family and we were upgraded to a bigger room, which made our stay more comfortable. Hotel provides a beach mattress and umbrella free of charge, or access to a private beach club at a discounted rate.

There are not enough hangers, hooks or shelf storage space in the room. Taking into account the hotel is near the beach, rooms need to be equipped with simple wire to dry swimwear. The hotel promised to fix this.
