You can either walk from Hakone Yumoto station or there's a bus stop Sammaibashi and walk 4 min to the property. It's a quiet neighbourhood. Nice view of the river from level 2 dinning area window. There's a small playground round the corner but it was raining so the children didnt get to try. Google made 7-11 look quite far away but actually it's just a little walk, easily within walking distance. No issue. Level 1 is a comfy bed. Level 2 & 3, futons are provided for but just need to set it up ourselves. Kitchen utensils was well equiped so we brought some stuff at 7-11 and had hot soup udon for dinner. yummy for the raining cold day. They also provided children bowl, fork and spoon.

Forgot about the climbing up and down the stairs might be a potential issue for the seniors with knees issues. The dinning area was on level 2. And night time, you can hear the other apartment people walking up and down the stairs (not much of a sound proof there)

The finishes and decor in the property gave it a really cosy feel, and the futons were comfy. The kitchenette was stocked with everything we needed. The property is located right on the river, and there is a footpath you can follow into town that makes for an easy and enjoyable walk. There is also a 7-11 a few streets away. We found a great little Izakaya, called Daichan, run by a lovely older lady, in a neighbouring street. It was nice to be away from the tourist strip. The host was really responsive and told us about the Go app to book a taxi when we were checking out.

We found the layout a little bit tricky for our family. The sleeping areas were on the ground floor and on the second floor/loft, which were separated by the living, kitchen, and bathroom on the first floor. The steps leading to the upper levels were also quite steep. The ground floor tatami room was big enough for three of us to sleep together, with one person sleeping in the loft. The toilet off the kitchen smelled, and we couldn't use the air conditioner in the living room as it was leaking quite badly. We also didn’t expect to have to pay extra to use the clothes washer/dryer. I can't recall this being mentioned in the listing.

We booked last minute, the host was responsive to our questions, and we had a nice stay in this traditional Japanese home. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese sleeping arrangements and dining area. The property was a good size for our family and had everything we needed. We only stayed for one night (checked in late, checked out early) so we didn't spend much time in the property. A solid 3 star in terms of finishes and such, but it was clean and comfortable and met all our needs. The washing machine was good, but coin operated. The property is a 10min walk to the Hakone Yamote station, which was nice and easy in the morning to explore Hakone but more difficult with luggage.

- very nice 3 floors house, it’s the best accommodation we had in Japan thanks to the space (usually you get a very functional but tiny room) - Japanese bathroom to relax end of the day - each room/floor has air conditioning - well furnished kitchen - very responsive & English speaking host - close to Hakone’s train station and main streets (10-15min walk) - we unintentionally broke a bowl and the Horst was very understanding

The futons were comfortable. The location is good (if you've done your research prior). I knew this was not in the hub of things and a 10 minute walk from the train station. This did not bother us nor was the walk hard (despite carrying many bags). There's a nice little izakaya round the corner (less than a 5 minute walk) which does nice food and drinks. The property was generally clean but could be improved in the entrance hallway (some dust and cobwebs). The washing machine provided was handy and relatively inexpensive.

The kitchen doesn't have any complimentary tea or coffee despite there being salt and other condiments. It would have been nice to have some coffee or tea. We needed to wash 10 days worth of clothes for 3 people in 2 nights. The drying provisions struggled to manage this and would recommend that bigger or more drying racks are provided.

The location was quiet with the beautiful river running behind the guest house. It was a short walk from the 7-11 and about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station. The house was clean and equipped with everything needed, including a washing machine. If only we could stay longer to enjoy more sightseeing!

Stairs were a little steep so wouldn’t recommend for young kids or elderly folks or those with mobility issues but was not a problem for us.

Pleasant property with everything you need provided. Location is slightly further from hakone-yumoto station if you don't mind walking 10 min or so. We were happy to experience a Japanese way of living.

Please note that using the washing machine is chargeable as it is a coin laundry machine. If you intend to do laundry on the property please come prepared with many 100 yen coins. Otherwise, detergent and laundry equipment is provided.

nice location, very spacious, very clean, nice facilities - just a really very nice property, I would definitely stay there again. location is great for exploring the area - close to the main train line - so an easy transfer, but also perfect location to explore the area from with the Hakone free pass. Bedding was nice, clean, fresh and reasonably new. Would definitely recommend.

The place is great - so these are just suggestions. It might already have been there - but a home manual may have been useful with some basic info on the appliances, things round the home (took 5 minutes to work out how to lock the door - then saw the little label on the door) in english and some tourist info - e.g. local restaurant recommendations. It felt like the place needed a good airing when we arrived, and this invited in the mosquitos that then feasted on my son that evening.

The house was very spacious and had everything you could want for a stay in hakone. The host was very responsive and helpful in different situations we asked about. The house had good amenities and was comfortable for our stay. It was a good location and the area is better enjoyed with a car.

The coin laundry was a bit of a surprise, but worked very well and the host provided products to clean the clothes with.
