An elderly relative of ours was rushed to Hereford Hospital, so we needed somewhere to stay for a few days. We are so glad that we chose The Green Dragon Hotel. After tiring and emotional days at the hospital it was a lovely cosy place to return to where we could relax and unwind. The hotel has a history that goes way back. It has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored. We loved it! We had coffee and pastries in the elegant Garrick Lounge in the mornings, we dined in the Hereford Brasserie in the evening, the food was delicious, and enjoyed a drink in the cosy Orange Bar. The staff were all professional, friendly and helpful. The owner was always around in the daytime checking that we and the other customers were enjoying their stay. Nice decor, comfortable beds and friendly staff. The location is very central and there is parking behind the hotel, and if you’re lucky enough to get space, it’s very reasonably priced. The bars were nice and cosy and I recommend staying here!

The breakfast was £16.50 each and we ordered off the main menu only to get a very small plate; if you ordered from the main menu you weren’t allowed to go to the buffet, so we left hungry. It was not worth the money, there are plenty of good reasonable cafe’s nearby that is cheaper with bigger portions. Plus a party was happening one night downstairs and it was very loud and went on until midnight, so we couldn’t get to sleep. In hinsight, we should have asked to switch rooms but was too tired to pack everything up. They need better soundproofing or just to turn the volume down to be considerate to other guests.

Great couple of nights the room was large and comfortable, The hotel has a nice feel to it comfortably lounge area nice bar good restaurant area all well done out. It's in a great position near to centre that has a good selection of shops, indoor market, food outlets and cafes and bars, plus cathedral and museums, the racecourse is a short distance away, taxi just under 10 pounds each way

The menu could have been better, was abit disappointied with the food we had, most of it was lovely just little bit, s let it down. The cost of parking had s to the price, but they do offer a reduction.

A lovely, historic hotel that retains a lot of character and has obviously had some TLC recently which is nice to see. A great central location, moments from the cathedral. I had a good sized double at the back with a huge bed and a new, soft carpet. I was so cosy and had the best two nights' sleep I've had in a long time. There was an iron and an ironing board in the wardrobe which I was grateful I didn't have to go searching for. Everyone I dealt with was really nice and the breakfast was great, in a room decorated with prints of apple and pear varieties, which as I was there for Apple Fest, made me happy! I'll definitely go back.

Only a point off for the slightly eccentric plumbing which I suppose is almost inevitable on the third floor of an old hotel. The hot water took a very long time to come through to the shower and when it did it was never more than warm. The pressure was also feeble; totally fine but if I'd had to wash my hair I would have been there a very long time! My friend staying on the first floor had no such trouble. Some new panels had been put in round the shower in the smart revamp but unfortunately it meant the taps were almost up against the wall. Someone with less mobility/strength in their hands would have struggled to turn them. Some lever taps would solve that.

You can't beat the central location. Very handy pay car park to the rear entrance of the hotel. Guests receive a discounted rate when paying at the machine near the reception desk for a 24 hour stay. Room clean and well-presented with quality mattresses and idiot-proof TV set-up, which made a welcome change!

The reception staff gave rather a lack-lustre impression. The breakfast was expensive compared with other providers in the city. A large window had been left open in our room high up on the wall which could have proved rather chilly during the night, had we not been able to reach it by perching on a chair! Unfortunately, something was wrong with the en suite toilet flush which created an unpleasant odour in the room - perhaps the open window had some connection to this?

The hotel was beautiful and i loved the old decor. When we got to the room, the staff had put balloons, banner and a card for my husbands birthday which i thought was a lovely gesture. The location was also perfect to explore Hereford.

Breakfast time , twice we went down for breakfast and there wasnt any staff to greet us. We waited awhile, we had to ask a maintenance man to ask someone to come. No apology when they came. Disappointed both times.

Superb location and very comfortable bed. The night porter was most helpful and accommodating to our needs and requirements of coming back late and supplying tea and milk for our room.

We had to pay separately for the parking, the staff at the bar wore ear plugs while there were still guests around. This was a challenge when trying to rouse his attention. When asking for tea and milk for our room we were brushed off in a manner that made us feel like intruders to his personal audio entertainment and getting ready for home.

Great reception staff, went above and beyond, prior to our stay to sort out our very confusing group booking for our daughters wedding. Bar staff were also very helpful organising ice buckets and glasses for the bridal suite.

Some of the rooms were very dark and shabby, as were the corridors. It was poorly signed, i kept getting lost going from room to room as we were all on different floors. Also the lift could be bigger. A workmen knocked on our door to say that we had just flushed the toilet all over him as he was working on the pipe outside, we should have been warned of this prior to him starting work as the result was very embarrasing. Aslo the hotel descibed our room as having city or courtyard views, our room overlooked what looked like a yard where unfortunate people were rough sleeping.

The Green Dragon has lots of style and character. the Bars and Lounge area are very cool. the staff were brilliant. We had a slight problem wuh the bath at night and were immediately moved and upgraded, very efficient.

Very little not to like. At breakfast I would deliver a Pot of tea or Cafetiere rather than staff filling small cups from jugs which meant you had to wait constantly fir refills. This isca very small grumble.

Comfortable night’s sleep with very nice bathroom. My single room had a large bed with plenty of room. There was a bath as well as a shower in the spotless bathroom. Nice thick, soft towels.

I was expecting a few more helpful items in the room, such as a shower cap, tissues, bottled water, perhaps cotton pads for removing make-up. I asked if a shower cap was available but reception didn’t have one. I also asked if there was a needle and thread that I could use, but that was unavailable too. I paid (through booking.com) over £180 per night so was expecting rather more than this.
