Deluxe Double Room was great. Plenty of space with large bed and also big sofa/sitting area. We were in Maldon for a wedding so didnt spend too much time in the room but we loved the room. Staff were friendly and helped us with a request to check in an hour early.

Received an email from the Hotel the day before our stay saying that original payment had been rejected. When enquired it was actually that Booking.com hadnt sent the money over to the hotel (i had booked just before an ownership change). Told to call Booking.com to sort and spent approx 20-25 ?mins on hold. In my opinion this should have been for Booking.com and the Hotel to sort internally. All above being said, this would not stop me from booking this hotel again.

It was a friendly, happy place where we stayed on Friday night. They had music in the bar and we stayed to enjoy the vibe which was an unexpected treat. The room was well appointed and ideal for our short break, right in the middle of the town centre. The breakfast was fabulous....a treat and will encourage us to stay again!

With no parking on site, we used the large pay and display car park which is very close. We arrived late and didn't need to pay until the morning so it wasn't a big issue

During a difficult time (house fire) and a last minute booking they made us welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms clean with comfortable beds. We stayed an extra night and couldn't fault it. I'd recommend the White Horse to anyone who wanted a relaxing stay in a great location. The menu is original and delicious. I could have stayed longer and worked my way through it. I highly recommend the ploughman's!

There honestly wasn't anything not to like.

Great location at the top end of the High Street. Room No 1 was well appointed. 2 single beds and plenty of room for clothes and case. Decoration of the room was great quality, wooden polished floors, big TV, open wardrobe and nespresso machine. Bathroom is clean and shower is warm. Soft fluffy towels and bathrobes. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is amazing and very generous. I had weetabix, coffee and eggs benedict. Staff are so friendly and really care about their hotel and its success.

Nice double room with sitting area. Twin room was a bit smaller but OK. Staff very kind and attentive. Breakfast outstanding with great variety

Parking is a downside. Public car park behind and close to the hotel charges from 0800 - 2200. Only £10 per day but had to get up in time to feed the meter. Difficult to find food in the pub and surrounding area after 2100 on a Sunday evening.

From the minute we walked through the door we were made to feel so welcome. Our room was extremely clean, the bed was really comfy. There were dressing gowns for us to use during our stay and those, along with the bedding smelt lovely and fresh. Every member of staff we interacted with was amazingly friendly and made you feel like they had known you for years. We ate 2 evening meals while we were there and both were really good, the roast dinner was exceptional, as was breakfast. We've already booked another weekend here, but sadly not until September as it is so booked up, which doesn't surprise me as it's such a great place :)

There was nothing we didn't like.

Comfortable, fresh feeling newly decorated room. Contemporary design in old building but worked well. Staff were all lovely

being a room over a pub there was a bit of noise but it certainly wasn't a rowdy pub. having to get up and pay for parking at 8am wasn't great, but if i'd managed to work the app out it wouldn't have been necessary to get up.

From the minute we stepped in nothing was too much trouble for john and ben. Exceptionally friendly and helpful. Locals lovely too. John's wife makes a fabulous breakfast.

Only one thing would have made it a 10 out of 10 and that would have been free parking but saying that, the public car park was right next to the hotel and you just had to update your ticket every morning at 8am. You could do it via an app so didn't have to get out of bed to do it. We went down for breakfast by 8am so not a problem doing the parking ticket the same time.

The White Horse was very welcoming. Our room was very comfortable plenty of room. Good location as at end of town so did not miss anything. The hoist John and Wendy very friendy and accomdating nothing to much trouble. The breakfast choice was great something for everyone. Full english was freshly cooked with good quality produce. The white horse is above a pub so nice to pop in for a drink with a good atmosphere. Would stay again.

Nothing to report that spoilt our stay

Perfect - we had everything we needed and we’re well taken care of by fantastic staff.

You have to pay for parking and rush out in the morning to extend it for the day but it’s very close to the hotel. A special deal / card for hotel visitors would be great. There wasn’t any storage for your toiletries in the bathroom but on the whole there was nothing to complain about.
