Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is generous and waiting staff really attentive. Coffee is amazing. It’s great for the money and location was fine for me as I needed closeness to airport but ability to get collected for trip to La Paz Waterfalls (highly recommend)

No problems with anything

I have been coming to this hotel for over 20 years. The atmosphere is quaint yet sophisticated. The rooms and sweeps are extremely comfortable and well designed and the pool is crystal clear .Even though time in between us, sometimes five years! The one change that they made is that they used to have a buffet breakfast and now they have waiters. personally, I enjoy choosing my own food because I waste less that way.

They really should go back to buffet. Now there are silly annoyances, such as, if I want a pat of butter, I have to wait for someone to bring it to me! In the past, I could have two bowls of fruit, and one scoop of eggs, this time I had to have a predesigned breakfast and snack once I last visited, the sausage meat has changed, so that they are kind of like hotdogs. I was given these and I couldn’t possibly have eaten them. I would never have chosen them to put on my plate had it been a buffet, so, I wasted food. One of the things that I love about this hotel is that they are very ego, conscious and friendly, they recycle everything!

Very nice hotel located in a really nice neighborhood. We stayed in two different apartments, but both were great (the second looks to be the new one). The swimming pool is not that deep but you can enjoy the time there. The breakfast was very good and the people were extremely kind. We also booked twice taxi with the assistance of the hotel staff. The place around the swimming pool is ideal to relax and drink something.

The first apartment was on the street side and at the other side is located a restaurant-bar. It was a little bit noisy until midnight or so. The apartments are not air-conditioned but at least for us was not a problem because the temperature during the night was ok.

We had great time in this hotel after very long flights from Europe. This is great place to relax after long journey and to fix things before tour around Costa Rica. Hotel itself offers nice and quite big swimmingpool, tasty and filling breakfast, and what was also very nice - there was continental breakfast buffet before the actual breakfast - that's a nice option for those who wake up early. Staff was very friendly and room very comfortable. There was Mobile Network office nearby so I could buy Costa Rican Sim Card and ATM to withdraw some cash. I find this hotel perfect to start a journey in Costa Rica. 2 nights is reasonable choice :-)

Really hard to find anything I didn't like...

All the staff at La Sabana were excellent. They were friendly, helpful and informative; able to answer any questions or queries we had. The room was comfortable and spacious but could perhaps benefit from a few upgrades, although it suited our needs perfectly. We were offered a wide selection of options for our breakfast, and the hot food, scrambled eggs and omelettes were freshly cooked to our specifications. The airport shuttle bus was not an option but staff at the hotel arranged a taxi to pick us up at the airport. We felt that the price was higher than we had anticipated and we fed this back to the staff.. We caught the bus into the city and decided that it was easy enough to walk back, including walking through the park. Would definitely recommend La Sabana as an excellent choice for a stay in San Jose

The traffic to and from the airport is frequently congested and needs to be considered when planning a return journey. Obviously this is something to be expected when staying in the City.

Very good apartment midway from airport and city centre. Spacious, clean and comfortable with a kitchen and fridge if you want to eat in. We had room service for dinner to eat in the living room and was quite nice. The staff is amazing, very helpful and polite. We had our child with a medical issue and they got the doctor to come in the room in less than 30m to see her. The breakfast is so good and with lots of choice. The coffee is very tasty. The swimming pool was a bit cool but ok if you want to stay in instead of going to city centre. The hotel is walking distance from a big park.

We liked everything

We rented a two-bedroom suite with kitchen facilities and we were very happy with our choice. The rooms were all spacious, clean, up-to-date and comfortable. They were also quiet. The reception staff and maids were friendly and welcoming and happy to accommodate our requests. La Sabana is in a great location, about 20 minutes outside the city centre in a quiet area of town with a park nearby. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

My only small grumble is that the swimming pool isn't heated, but after the initial shock I quickly got used to it.

Amazing staff, great breakfast (local and international), loved the vibes at the pool. The communal areas a nicely decorated, and the pool in the middle elevates the experience. The room we got was very tidy and clean.

The bedrooms in our apartment were quite small, as well as the bathroom. It was a bit tight with 4 adults and a lot of luggage. We preferred staying outside of our room (mostly at the pool, where you could get service or bring your own drinks and food) instead of in the room since there wasn't a lot of space to hang out.

They served a very nice breakfast daily and the staff were very friendly. The pool area was nice to have a quick dip to cool off or to lounge around with a drink and relax. We were there at Christmas time and the location was great for taking in the Tope and Carnival which were within easy walking distance.

There are some restaurants that are close but most are a bit of a walk. The La Sabana park is nice but the stadium at the one end creates a bit of a barrier to to cutting through the area to restaurants etc.

The staff were incredible! Due to problems with our airline, we unfortunately missed the first night of our stay, but the staff at La Sabana couldn't be more helpful in rearranging our taxi transfer and then coordinating a night's stay at the end of our holiday to compensate for the missed first night. They truly went above and beyond! The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well-appointed with toiletries and hairdryer, as well as having plenty of information about the hotel, restaurant and local area on display. This helped us make the most of our first day in San Jose with zero stress. Breakfast was delicious and catered to Costa Rican, American and European tastes in the form of very generous portions.

We wish we could have stayed longer to fully make the most of all the facilities on offer!
