Overall, the room was perfectly fine - it was warm, (despite the bitterly cold weather outside), and very clean & tidy, and well presented. The breakfast was good and enjoyable.
There were no spare blankets, and since it's mid-winter blankets are a must-have, relying on a warm room is not the answer. Guests should not be expected to make a call just as they're about to go to bed to ask for a blanket (or two) - a minimum of two should be provided as a standard. When booking the room I failed to see that breakfast was not included as standard but had to booked separately. I had to book and pay for it, as I arrived for breakfast on the morning in question. Is this the normal practice? Surely it would be better for the guest, for it to be included as standard for the full room cost to be seen when viewing and booking?

The hotel is a sprawling old building with lots of character. It's pretty well located on the main High St, with bus routes outside and the railway station a few minutes walk away. The room I was given was very generous in size, it felt more like a mini-suite with a desk and chair, plus sofa, armchair, and coffee table. Some of the hotels I've stayed in at similar prices would have chopped this space into two separate rooms, so I really appreciated having ample area for once. Bed was perfectly comfortable, and again a generous size. Also nice to have a full-sized bath as well as the shower.
The shower was a bit quirky. The water was fine and hot, flow wasn't brilliant though and it was hard to add cold to bring the temperature down. I'm not much of a plumber but think this might have been a blockage in the mixer tap arrangement that feeds the shower head.

All the staff were exceptionally friendly and approachable. Very professional. One young man seeing me trying to find my room and struggling with my baggage quickly helped by carrying my suitcase and taking me to my room. The breakfast was good although the choice of hot food was abit limited, being vegetarian. Generally very good
I appreciate it is a very old hotel and is full of quirky aspects (which is part of its charm) but faulty bathroom blinds and shelving is basic maintenance and could easily be addressed. Saying that the charm and character of the hotel together with the staff far out way any negatives.

It's a very old building and a lot of work has clearly gone into keeping as many of the old features, so there's a lot of small doors and wonky, squeaky floors - but you would expect exactly that in any building with so much history to its name! The room was comfortable and VERY reasonably priced, staff were lovely and tried as best they could to help with the issues that arose (again, kind of to be expected in such an old place), and the location was fantastic! Definitely recommend for anyone interested in historic buildings and mildly kitch-y aesthetics.
The hot water pressure in the shower was very low. RE: accessibility - the rooms are only accessible by stairs, and some are quite steep. I liked that as a feature, but it may be important for some to know.

It's a really quirky old building which I found particularly charming. Our room was dark oak panelled, with a very comfortable 4-poster bed, and the rest of the furniture was appropriate to the ambience. All the staff were particularly friendly and cheerful. The drinks were very reasonably priced, and the breakfast was very good. I'd booked it purely on price as all we needed was a bed for the night, but we got far more for our money than I would have expected. As long as you're not looking for some kind of super modern luxury experience, I'd really recommend it.
The shower wasn't quite as powerful as one could hope for, but I'd imagine sorting out the plumbing in this building would be a nightmare, so this is a very minor issue. It served its purpose.

Very clean everywhere. Lighting in the room was great and nice bathroom. The shower could do with improved pressure. Beds very comfortable. Convieniently located at the upper end of the High Street. Parking at rear, free, as long as you tell reception when checking in. *It looks old inside and some floors creek, but if you pay attention when you book, this is a very old protected building, but I found everywhere to be very clean.* I would definitely stay here again.
No hand soap for the hand basin.

Overall we love this hotel. We prefer to stay in the main hotel which was able to be arranged on this occasion and our request for rooms next door to each other was also met. The rooms are great. I hate corporate hotels (we all know the ones we mean!) and the Rose and Crown is ideal with bedroom windows that actually open, lovely old wood floors, individual decor etc.
Our only slight issue this time was with the breakfast in that it appeared to be on a buffet service but the heat had been switched off which meant it was cold! However, the staff quickly remedied this and provided freshly cooked breakfast with the same great produce which we always get at this hotel. I believe the hotel is not able to offer lunch and dinner at the moment which does not affect us directly but may have been the reason for the slight breakfast issue.

Breakfast was superb. Plenty of food, plenty of choices. Fresh bakery was provided daily. Eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and more were part of traditional English breakfast. Plus everything from continental breakfast was also available. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and my night rest was very good.
The sink was historically outdated with two taps and a plug. And the floors were singing (squeaking).

I loved the traditional old style feel of the hotel. It was ideally situated on the High Street, close to all the shops and the parks and the castle. It was on the bus route and about a 15 to 20 minute walk to Tonbridge station. Brilliant. My room was comfortably small, but it had all the amenities that I needed. The room was clean, and the bathroom was great, with a lovely shower. The single bed was really comfortable. All in all, a really good 4 night stay in a great old Hotel. Thank you.
No complaints.

I was in the old building which I liked, the only issue was the water consistency in the shower. The temperature was difficult to maintain & the pressure could be a little stronger but that's difficult in a building that old. I don't know anything about the new building. The breakfast was lovely.
The car park wasn't easy to find in the dark but a lovely neighbour showed me the right place.
