Though there was no physical presence of registration at this location, information was provided in advance of check-in at a nearby "sister" hotel. Registration there was quick & efficient. The unit was well-located close to restaurants in the Old City. The room was well-appointed with clean linens and had a kettle & supplies for tea and/or coffee. As well, there was a mini-kitchen down the hall with a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster and another kettle as well as utensils and a table & chairs. The unit was quiet and daily housekeeping was provided.

There was nothing not to like

If you want to immerse into the party culture of the casco viejo, book this room. It’s functional, clean, and a super location. Daily cleaning surprised us, window to the north, didn’t even need the air conditioning with 30°C outside.

It’s not what we don’t like, it’s rather what you need to be aware of: Taxis cannot take you directly to the location beginning from 11:00 a. m. But it’s very close to the train station. There are quite some steps to the second floor directly when arriving with heavy luggage and the location might result in some nightly disturbances by late party goers. But, if you can deal with that - there’s nothing we didn’t like. 😁

The pre-stay communication was excellent - timely, friendly, appropriate, and helpful. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Casual Serantes with 7 rooms and it is a newly converted old building. It's all fresh and lovely. The shower is 'compact'. Its in the old town, is quite 'gritty', think Bristol, not Kensington. The overnight SABA parking at the railway station was 10 mins walk from the accommodation. There was a big discount booking via Casual Serantes. You just drive in and park and whatsapp the pic of the parking ticket and your registration number to Casual Serantes and who send a link to the parking website. Pay €18 for 24-hour parking, and Casual Serantes sends a code. Show the code when leaving the parking, and the parking company check their records and let you out. Europcar is in the railway station at the same place, and there is an amazing restaurant for coffee and pintxos (pinchos) for c€4.00 pp for breakfast in the railway station opposite the Europcar office.

Very clean property with plenty of space, good amenities too with tea, coffee and a kettle inside the room. In the hallway you also had a small kitchen with fridge, microwave, cutlery and freezer if needed! Right in the center of the town walking distance to everything

Quite noisy due to being above very busy bars/cafes at night and the cleaning staff goes to your room everyday which usually isn’t the case seeing all your things are inside… But I told them not to do it whilst we were over and it was fine after.

Far better than many previous negative reviews stated!! Lovely room with excellent double glazing. Yes, 43 steps in one flight but they are neither steep nor narrow (not as steep as those in many a UK terraced house and nothing compared to old Dutch houses eg Anne Frank’s!). Code for entry much better than needing key(s). Great to have a kettle and mugs in room as well as small kitchen nearby.

No noise insulation between rooms!! Person next door was having a reasonable phone call for over an hour in Spanish and not loudly at all, but pretty much every word could be made out! They must have heard our TV the night before too. Quiet after 10pm or so and did not disturb sleep!

The room was very smart and modern and comfortable, the bed was comfortable, the bolster-pillows were good quality (and 2 per bed), it had a modern aircon-cum-heating unit, good lighting, the shower was large, the code lock for all 3 doorways (outer, inner and room) was simple and great not to have to worry about keys/keycards. Communications (from the centre of operations at Casual Mardones) were efficient.

Fewer sockets than some places (only 2 between 3 beds). It had an impressively long flight of stairs up to the rooms (no lift). Of the 3 'Casual' hotels, this one is on a slightly seedier street than the other two (which are very close to each other), though you can avoid the less salubrious alleyway 'shortcuts' after dark and still reach it via the busier main streets. This and the absence of a manned reception explain no doubt why it is a little cheaper than the other two branches. The only real inconvenience (if you are sending luggage ahead with Correos or similar) is having to have your bag delivered and collected instead from the manned Casual Mardones, which is 5-6 mins walk away from Serantes. Like the stairs, not a big deal if your bag isn't too unwieldy!

An amazing accomodation in the heart of old town. Exceptionally clean, the care of the room was taken every day. Kettle and cups in the room and a small kitchen for common use with fridge and microwave. Good soundproof windows which go well together with quite lively night life nearby. I got whatsapp message with access code and the staff was interested if I am ok.

I read about the stairs and a big number of them, but it seems that none mentioned that there is just one flight of stairs quite steep with a big number of steps. As a person who is extremely afraid of height I was initially in desperation before climbing this Everest (thanks God I had only a small bag) and even had idea of looking for another place to stay and I was lucky to meet someone from staff to drag me and my bag up to the very top. The idea of throwing bag down the stairs as the easiest option during final departure was in my mind all the time 😁 Surviving with dizziness for 4 days and 3 nights up and down will teach me to investigate reviews more properly 😊 If you are not as scary as me, then, please, choose this amazing place.

The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was also spacious and everything was modern. The coffee and tea making facilities were great and although we didn’t use the kitchen opposite our room, we would have done if we were able to stay longer.

We understood that there wasn’t a lift but the stairs, while perfectly manageable were a bit daunting, especially for people over 75. Perhaps a little more information before booking would have been helpful.

We arrived in Bilbao during their annual Basque festival which was a great experience. The accommodation was right over one of the main party streets but surprisingly the windows were very sound proof (except when the nightly fireworks were in full swing)! The room was a good size, comfortable beds and there was a shared kitchenette with a microwave, fridge etc The location was great in the centre of the old city and an easy walk to the metro station and lots of attractions.

Walking up the 3 flights of stairs with our suitcases - but we knew this when we booked. There wasn't anywhere to wash the dishes in the kitchenette so we had to wash them in our bathroom.

The location is great, right in the Old town of Bilbao. We got the bus from the airport to the centre of Bilbao and then it was a 20 minute walk along the Grand Via which is their main street to the accommodation. The bus cost us 3 euros each and takes approx. 15 minutes to the centre. Really easy. There's a busy bar in the street outside of the apartment, but the sound later on at night does not travel through to the room. The shower is tiny so if you are a bigger person you will struggle. There is also 44 steps up to the room from the outside door. This was no problem for us, but some people who have breathing problems, etc it may be. We had no problems and would recommend the place. No one meets you, it is all coded to get in.

Nothing apart from the shower being so tiny. The shower itself works great. One small concern was that the code to get in the main building was exactly the same code to get in the next two doors.
