It was a wonderful stay. We had booked a half board (about an 8 course private dinner) and private, semi-open air onsen in our room. The onsen was wonderful and we were able to see outside as we took our hot spring bath. The rooms were wonderful and the staff was amazing. The dinner we had there was delicious and I could not even finish my meal but the experience was great, and I would do it again. There is a shuttle that takes you back and fourth from the hotel to the train station but please do check with the staff on time. When we made it to the station it was a bit late, so we took a taxi to the hotel.

There is nothing the hotel can do about this but it is a little far but well worth the travel.

It was our honeymoon and it was sweet the accommodation offered us wine to celebrate at dinner. The dinner was phenomenal and we were so full after. The facilities were good and it was fun to play some pool and table tennis too. Hostess at dinner was pleasant and was timely in bringing each course, multi course dinner was delicious and was a wonderful experience. Great facilities with different onsen to relax in and each was a different experience

The arcade/games area could be refreshed a bit and renewed. I heard there used to be a VIP lounge. Would have liked to check that out.

Staff were very friendly. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. 4 different Onsen were amazing - when you worked out which day was for men or women! (alternated)

Not much to walk to in terms of eateries, although a convenience store down the road Booking.com advertised private Onsen in every room however, this was an ambition not an actuality yet. Staff were so helpful and let us book the private Onsen morning and evening for the duration of our stay free of charge. Excellent customer service.

Good breakfast, courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Good hot spring.

The first night someone was talking loudly 2 doors down and slamming doors at 20 past midnight. They woke me up and I had to call reception and ask them to speak to the guest who’s breaking the rule. It lasted for a long while after the staff member came to knock on MY door to ask me to show him which one. I don’t know what he said to the noisy guests but the noise still lasted for a long while after the staff member came to intervene!

I'm very happy with our decision of choosing this hotel for our stay near Kyoto. It's only about 20 minutes away from the city and you can see lake Biwa from the room and the attached outdoor-bath! The staff was incredible, super friendly and quite proficient in english. In the basement there is a small arcade, and there was a (free) bingo event in the lobby, both of which where a lot of fun! The food was delicious and the room was one of the biggest I've seen in Japan. All in all it was an amazing experience and we will definetly visit there again if we get the chance!

The staff were super friendly, service minded, and fairly comfortable with English. We had a room with our own outdoor bath which was amazing, and the room as a whole was spacious, clean, and filled with amenities. All the food was great. Overall had an amazing stay and me and me wife really felt like we were taken care of and spoiled.

If there's anything to criticize, the location is a bit remote and if you're interested in doing anything else outside of the hotel it will involve some effort on your part (though they will provide you with a shuttle bus to and from the nearby train stations for check-in and checkout). Also, while the food was excellent, the amount for the kaiseki meals and Japanese breakfast could be almost overwhelming

The entire establishment was beautiful, from the lobby to the rooms, to the dining areas were all immaculate. If you want to really experience traditional Japanese culture, you should come here. The room we stayed in was a two twin bed room with a private onsen bath. The room was so spacious and clean for just two people. I would highly recommend including the Kaiseki breakfast and dinner in your plans if you can. The staff were very nice and attentative to our requests. Being mindful that changes to dinner courses can be a great inconvenience to the staff, we did make a small request without the hope that they might be able to accommodate us, but they did, and we were really grateful to them. On one specific day we asked if they could call a taxi for us before the free shuttle times to the ogotoonsen train station, and even though they could not actually get a taxi so early, they still accommodated us and got the shuttle to do a run for us at 6AM. I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone that wants to have a resort-like experience of just relaxing in the baths, wearing yukatas, and enjoying locally sourced cuisine. Also of note, the hotel does use a luggage transport company, so if you need to ship your luggage from hotel to hotel, they also use Yamato transport. Just ask the front desk for a slip.

The ryokan offers a free shuttle service from the ryokan to the nearest JR train station, which is Ogotoonsen. It's about a 20min walk but a 5 min car ride. After 7PM, the free shuttle stops, and then from there you can only relay on taxis. There are taxis that come and go around the train station, but relying on when the next taxi will show up was a source of anxiety for me. The ryokan was a highlight of our trip, but relying on taxis after hours was a great inconvenience.

Absolutely loved our stay. The staff was so welcoming from our very first interaction. Check-in is a lovely process where you sit on comfy couches and staff walk you through your reservation, explain the facilities, etc. Our room was very nice and came with nice amenities. The rooftop mineral baths are spectacular. The meals (we opted for dinner and breakfast) are a MUST. They hosted a bingo night while we were there with prizes. Such a fun experience. We would definitely stay there again.

Like other onsen ryokan, they offer pick up service from the station, in addition, they are so thoughtful, when we leave, they offer several drop off spot in case some of us want to take the cable car, ropeway back to Rurikoin temple area in Kyoto. Very thoughtful. We booked the spa service ahead of time and it's very enjoyable. We upgrade our room with a private onsen, they fill up the water and keep it warm just so we won't have to wait, very thoughtful. The food is super good quality, enjoyable. I highly recommend staying at this place. Really 10/10!!

Everything here was just amazing. When we first checked in, they made the mistake of assigning us to the room where other people were already in. But as soon as they realised they made the mistake, they quickly assigned us to another room and even offered us free drinks. The dinner was fantastic, and we were all very satisfied and full after dinner. There were three different onsens that I could enjoy during the stay. Both open-air onsens were beautiful and possibly one of the best onsens I've been to. The breakfast was also amazing!
