The property is exceptional and Alberto is so hospitable welcoming you into his home and also his home town of Ortigia. Every part of La Residenza has his own personal touch and every day Alberto will bake a sweet delicacy for you to try for breakfast. His is extreme knowledgeable and proud of his town and is happy to answer any questions and recommend places to go and see. The location is central and perfect within walking distance of everything. The rooms are clean, spacious and so comfortable. You even have your own little terrazza and great natural light. Anita the housekeeper is so sweet and lovely. From the moment you walk into La Residenza it feels like home, which is exactly the ambience Alberto wants you to feel. If you need a taxi to the airport Alberto can refer you to one. My stay here was nothing but exceptional and I look forward to returning. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Ortigia. Grazie Mille Alberto e Anita per la vostra ospitalità.

That I had to leave.

OMG - this place is amazing. It is right in the heart of Ortigia just off Via Roma. It feels like it should be noisy but is in fact a slice of tranquil heaven. It is very quiet with gorgeous rooms, and a small balcony to enjoy an evening snack. The breakfast was delicious served on a lovely terrace & a fabulous communal area. Alberto & team could not have been more helpful with pre- arrival information and tips about where to go, where to eat and what to see on arrival. This place is an absolute hidden gem - will definitely stay here again. Just gorgeous!

That I had to leave! It was fabulous.

The room at La Residenzza was like in the pictures. Very spacious and comfortable. The mattress was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and I personally loved the softness of the towels. Everything was clean and stylish. The little balcony did not disappoint, we loved it. Alberto was very kind and patient with all our questions. He gave us great advice on everything from where to park to where to eat and swim. This apartment is located in the center of Ortigia, everything within walking distance. Breakfast was served at the nice balcony and Anita was really sweet and kind. Breakfast choices go from pastries to ham, cheese and eggs. Good coffee and tea too. We got two bottles of water in the fridge free of charge, a nice welcoming touch. Thanks Alberto and Anita for a great stay! If you have a car, it is not possible to park around as this apartment is in the historical center so you would need to leave the car at one of the car parks (parcheggio Talete) Make sure you do the payment through the app because the machines are a nightmare to use. Alberto will explain everything you need to do with the app.

I would like to suggest to have, additionally to sliced bread, another type of bread more Italian like.

Alberto was really charming and very helpful in welcoming and guiding us with exactly what to do, where to eat and what to visit upon our arrival. Prior to our arrival, Alberto contacted us in order to inform us about where to park and especially to avoid the activated "ZTL" zone of limited traffic. Regarding parking, if you are using the app easy park , do remember to register the actual plate of your rental car so that a fine is avoided. He organized some gluten free breakfast for my wife. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops are right outside the residence. Ortigia is in fact the best place to stay in Siracusa. Anita the house keeper was very nice. We had a very comfortable and clean room. Breakfast was pleasantly served on a beautiful terrace with a nice view.

Rolling suitcase potential: Beware of the uneven platform outside the main entrance door. While I helped my wife to carry down her suitcase, mine rolled and jumped down the whole staircase. This was due to our lack of attention. Do pay attention whilst exiting with your suitcase. I would have enjoyed freshly baked bread at breakfast instead of only toasts. However, that is apparently the Italian way of having breakfast.

Super clean and comfortable room in a historical building, with lots of light in the best spot of adorable Ortigia. Our host Alberto was very friendly and gave great tips even prior to our arrival, helping us find the closest parking and the places to visit and eat. He knows a lot about Sicilian history and all the details on the island - super interesting! The breakfast is served in a charming balcony by Anita. We simply loved it and can't wait to come back.

Alberto was welcoming, helpful and charming. He was always contactable, which was nice and he gave us excellent suggestions as to what to see and do and where to eat during our short stay. The location was ideal for walking around town and within a few steps of some good restaurants. The room was lovely, an attractive mixture of modern and traditional Sicilian decor. The breakfast was plentiful and good, served beautifully.

Didn't expect a restaurant right below our window but it was quiet by around 10.30-11pm. Would be nice to have coffee available in the room.

Brilliant location right in the heart of Ortigia but quiet for sleeping. A decent size room with adequate space for luggage & hanging clothes. Breakfast was buffet style on the terrace outside & Anita made a lovely cappucino each morning. The host Alberto on arrival assisted us with our luggage upstairs & gave us several options on the map of what to see, where to eat etc.

A lot of outside stairs

The residence is clean. As a world traveler, I would say it’s ‘above European standard’ for cleanliness. The house maid is very friendly, and prepares breakfast for you. She was wonderful. So was the breakfast. Order a cappuccino! The man who checked us in when we arrived was also very friendly and knowledgeable - although his suggestions for places to go were very touristic. However, we found our own little gems…. Location is fantastic for walking & exploring the island. Walk down the streets less traveled. Eat at Locanda Maniace, a 3 minute walk, thank me later. It’s a Michelin quality gastro-experience. Everything else is tipica-tourista. If you want something a bit out of the ordinary, take a walk, 3 min away, on the western pier for sunset, find the only house amongst the restaurants, with a garden and a bunch of rusty seats. Only 3 are good for sitting. If the homeowner is outside, strike up a convo, see if you’re invited for sunset…

Closest parking is a 7 minute walk at €2 per hour (€48 /24hrs). Cheapest parking is off the island, 12 minute walk for €15, recommended by the house. Small rooms with only skylights for windows. Balcony and kitchen are shared with other guests - but on the plus, there are only a few rooms. Thin walls. Creaky floors. Loud doors. Key for the bedroom doors are antica style/chonky, without much to the individual pattern or teeth - which offers little security for the room door locks. However, there are multiple keys and multiple locked doors that must be passed to even get in the residency, which helps. The terrace is not private, and is quite small. There is no refrigerator in the room.

Alberto sent us very good instructions on where to park and how to find the building. We let him know roughly what time we would be there and he was there to meet us. He shared his love for the island of Ortigia with us. He told us the places to visit and the ones to avoid. We stayed for 3 nights and he gave us 3 different recommendations for restaurants all of which were superb. The room was spacious and comfortable. The lounge area was large with tables to eat breakfast at as well as a balcony where you could also eat. Alberto only has 4 rooms so you can take the time to talk to your fellow guests if you wish. His housekeeper serves a very nice breakfast. The home made cakes are fantastic.

There was nothing we didn't like. If you are less mobile there is only a stair access to the property which is on the 1st floor.
