Great location, slightly faded glory but really nice staff doing a great job overall.

I was surprised to see service charges on a bar bill, for drinks which I had purchased at the bar! This left a bad taste probably more damaging to the business than 3quid was worth.

Stayed for a friend wedding, last min booked as I was meant to stay elsewhere the night before the wedding, but the hotel I was going to stay at was horrible and dirty. I was able to book with 30mins notice and the staff were so friendly and really nice, they were also able to keep me in the same room for the next night, for the other booking! Would defo stay again!

The breakfast food wasn't the best both days, with the sausages not looking fully cooked and the next morning the bagel was so burnt and hard it cut my gum, so the chef need a little more work but everything else was lovely.

The room was exceptionally comfortable, clean and very well serviced. We had an evening meal which was very good but quite expensive. The lounge area is very well furnished and relaxing. The hotel overlooks a country park with Deers and sometimes Alpacas. The service and staff were simply excellent in all areas of the hotel.

I felt the furniture in the dining area needed considerable attention. Some of the chairs were worn out with splits and holes. The upholstery in some of the seats had collapsed which meant they were uncomfortable to sit on. Breakfast needs reviewing. The cooked breakfast is unexciting and was not cooked very well. There is a table with croissants, toast, jams etc but all fairly standard food. Rather sadly the squeezy honey came from Slough which I found disappointing. Parking can be a problem. The car park was full and we had to park in a field under trees.

The staff were excellent, particularly the lady on reception, although all were courteous and helpful. The surroundings couldn't be beaten. Our room was very small but adequate, was that because of the Booking.com discount? The coffee/tea facilities were good.

The meal (breakfast) quantity wise was limited and only just warm. It took an age to be delivered to our table and the restaurant didn't seem that busy. There was a lack of space for the number of guests known to be attending the wedding; fortunately the weather was not too bad so we could wait outside and chat before the proceedings started, if it had been raining there would have been an issue! The room had a bath/shower which for a less able person would be an issue, be sure to check. There was no information in the room, local amenities, check out time.......

the setting and scenery of the hotel was lovely. our room was lovely too pillows were amazing , the staff at reception lovely and helpful. we had some treatments in the spa which was lovely and the staff so friendly. the whole hotel was so clean too and the bar staff were so attentive. even making me a cocktail not on the list. we chose to eat outside the hotel however the food we did see looked nice.

the pillows were great, however the mattress was quite hard and really wasn’t comfortable so that was a little disappointing. the tv channels and signal wasn’t the best and they kept fuzzing/ breaking up.

The room was very nice and should have been considering the high room per night rate! The linens/bed were good. The view from the Garden room was lovely. It was very quiet. It was nice and warm. There was plentiful hot water, again only to be expected.

The hotel seemed very short staffed which is terrible given the high room rate. One chap seemed to do everything. He worked extremely hard. There were no rails or holds to assist in getting into the shower. The magnifying mirror was broken and useless. Breakfast was OK, but the service was VERY slow and the waiter was the chef as well. For £17.00 a head I would expect better. One of the staff members had been drafted in from another hotel as they were so short staffed. Disappointing.

Bedroom was excellent size and the bed very comfortable. Nice location. Reception and cleaning staff were very helpful and friendly.

The evening restaurant was not quite as expected. Staff were not very attentive and having booked ahead for a table, therefore hoping for a nice table we were offered a tiny table initially as it was pretty much sit where there is a free table. The restaurant food was nice but the portions far too small, vegetables very sparse and the price was high. So very disappointing for a country hotel. In fact the following night we resorted to the local pub to avoid hunger and there were other guests from the hotel doing the same! In case you think I’m a big person I’m not! I’m 5ft size 6 and I eat a healthy balanced diet!! Give a bit more and you’ll maybe find those staying more than one night will eat in other evenings as well…. Breakfast in contrast was excellent thank you.

Beautiful 18th Century house in a delightful setting. Staff very friendly and we had a lovely room, very comfortable bed and a lovely deep bath with hot water. So often the water in hotels is lukewarm. Cannot fault the room.

The decking was badly in need of painting and all the gutters were leaking. Was disappointing to find that we were not allowed to use the pool as there was something wrong with it. As we drove back from a day out, and it was becoming dark, we spotted several rats in our headlights running from a storeroom.

The hotel is located on beautiful grounds, surrounded by deer and greenery. The building is gorgeous and the decor and furniture is carefully curated and in keeping with the style and era. The room was quiet, spacious and felt cozy. The bathroom had a selection of toiletries and we were provided with plenty of fresh towels. Good water pressure and hot water on demand. Breakfast was good and although there was a limited selection of items, they were all freshly made and tasty. The staff was welcoming, polite and catered to all our needs. The receptionist in particular was very helpful and assisted me with a personal problem I was facing. The hotel was clean and tidy and the grounds were beautifully kept.

Some of the furniture in the restaurant area was a bit tired. Some minor maintenance issues were present in some areas (damp/peeling walls).
